Punch is my first car. Yes, there is some lag with the engine, but not bad. I drove 2200 km covering Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana, all kinds of roads. As a new driver without any discomfort I was able to do long drives, particularly Highway experience was really good. There are other cars comes with better engines for sure, but TATA built quality is your insurance.
I am using Maruti Wagon R ZXI 4 cylinder engine AMT. Even in that supposedly refined engine you can feel the lag at lower points. It's typical of any AMT gear boxes. I have driving almost 1600 kms at a single stretch in 3 days from Chennai to Madurai, Srivilliputur, Trichy, Tanjore Mannargudi and then back to Chennai. Even though the ride quality is fine, high speed stability even above 80 km speed is missing in that. Whereas I have seen my friends driving punch AMT without any stability issues at above 80 km speed in highways. The point is every car has got its own merits and demerits. Punch scores in terms of highway speed stability and 5 star rated safety whereas Maruti and Hyundai has better engine and reliable services. But one has to be alive to enjoy these benefits 😊..So punch in spite of its little laggy performance at lower gears is a better bet any day.
Punch came to market 2 years before and Exter is released 1 month before hence Hyundai studied all features and came out with product that will take head-on with Punch which was dominating past 2 years. Good for consumers. Hope TATA will gear up and do something to elevate Punch market soon. Very good comparison done. It is going to be tough for people to take decision unless they do test drive and get satisfied.

Excellent Comparison Sir. Thank you. It is clear that Exter is the winner. Exter will be the new trend like Swift initial launch provided the product pricing remains the same.
Exter rear seats position is lower for a SUV design ( rather like a hatchback). Thinking about it , it could be a design strategy. Normally in any SUV design the bumpiness in drive is felt mostly by the rear passengers due to the lower weight at the rear and overall higher CG in SUV design. To reduce the rear bumpiness , the rear seats might have been purposefully lowered to reduce the CG at the rear( which in turn makes like normal hatch seating). One important point about Exter over Punch is the rear window and hatch glass are larger which makes the rear side more bright and airy.( Whenever I see a Punch on the road , I wonder how people are able to sit in the rear with very less window size and makes it more busy and claustrophobic)..
I believe that during the media briefing Hyundai officials mentioned that that as of now there are no 4/5 stars rated car in the micro SUV segment. The Tata Punch was rated 5 stars as per the old GNCAP where 6 air bags and ESP were not mandatory. As per the new parameters for a car to be rated 5 stars, 6 air bags and ESP are mandatory. Of course Tata Punch and other cars need to have 6 air bags by October 2023. Adding 6 air bags and ESP will add to the basic price of the car. Let both cars be tested as per the new GNCAP or BNCAP criteria and until then let us not brag that one is 5 star rated and the other is not. I see everything going in favor of Exter, engine refinement, durability, reliability, maintenance, safety, features, etc.
Exter : 6 airbags ,soft suspension and comfortable ride , smooth engine , good fit and finish, good service , excellent room in back seat view, bit lags in under thigh support in back seat ,, more features Punch : good structural integrity,, excellent under thigh support , stiff suspension so uncomfortable in bad roads , more sound and unbalanced engine , poor service , if you are unlucky like me manufacturing defects and poorly tested vehicle will create the hell after buying car .

Fronx is also an optional with reliable engine + Service
Exter boot size is around 310 ltr only bro... May be they calculated areas above boot tray. It visually looks smaller than i20(which is 311ltr).
394 l of boot space in exter
S broo... Only 310 to 330 ltr

Hi sir..vandi start pannumbothu.petrol.r diesel.first endha part ku pogum .epdi start agumnu oru explain panunga sir..
Excellent effort sir. For sure, it would be useful for many.
Thanks for the comparison.
It will be grateful if would have compared the price too.
What ABT rear tyre cladding,it's hittting the tire if full seat capacity with 5 people??
Very well explained wid demo 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👏👏
Sir, what about price comparison???
Magnite in this price is better than both of these. Kindly check online. It is underrated car. Compare once and decide
Bro , thanks for your video. What is your view on steering smoothness while driving ?
Which is more comfortable in the back seat and in which car 3 people can adjust properly.
Punch ia good
Exter is good. If you test drive the car you can feel
Anna sooper .. I want to learn more from ... Please assist me in taking videos and other's
Heard that exter is having rear suspension issue. With full load capacity (including luggage)the rear body is mostly fouling with the tyre. I saw some random videos too. Pls some one clarify this.
Nice review sir, a proud owner of Tata Punch
Neat and perfect review sir, impressed.
1) Sitting High
2) No compromises in seat both passenger & driver there by unlimited comfort (no cutshort of seat width to increase leg room)
3) 16 inch wheel with 195 section radial vs 175 R15.. drive, handling and brake assist
4) 90 degree door open - easy ingress n egress... u ll feel this on a daily basis with ur family n elders.
5) You missed this point - Steering wheel feedback and auto centering ... exter steering is dead light evn at high speeds and not confidence inspring and for me the vechile should react to my inputs where Punch again shines..
Yes 3 cylinder and not tech gimicky as others but if ur priorities are above said 4 points..
Its always Punch
