Do you think you can do an analysis video on Shudder's theatrical film "Late Night with the Devil", do the same for Rainbott's animated analog series "Welcome to Dreamworld"?
I really hope one day someone does something like this for The Dionaea House by Eric Heisserer. There's so many classic stories but nothing really got me hooked like it did.
l love so much that the creator learned about the original creepypasta, knew he had a cave near him and thought "Hey I can do that" and just did it and it came out so wonderfully and so faithful to the original story, I'm so glad that there are people out there that use what they have around them to creat such great content.
@timthetoolpool the man who cave dives is insane, the average man is sane. But are they really insane? To be insane, you would have to completely disregard the danger entirely. No, cave divers and spelunkists work around the danger, as safe as they can. Are these not the actions of a sane mind?
@@timthetoolpoolwhat do you mean? I found this cool cave near me with some weird grinding noises, but it’s pretty cool! I even found a new passage there I want to explore! It’s not like anything bad will happen, right?
The fact he didn't know about the story until he saw a papa meat and wendigoon video, thought "imma recreate this", found a cave and a few friends, made and edited video in like 3 MONTHS, and then uploaded each video so that they corresponded to the dates of the original post. Not only THAT but he said that he made it so that the length of the videos added up to the amount of time it takes to READ IT. This man has such talent and attention to detail. He really said "if im going to do it, then i'm going all in". UGHH SO GOOD.
Alex (the guy that plays Ted) was incredibly faithful to the original story, the entire YT series can be watched in the same amount of time it takes to read the original story, he was able to utilize a real cave, researched actual caving practices and terminology just to make things more accurate, HE EVEN HAS A DOG THAT LOOKS LIKE WHIP IN THE ORIGINAL STORY oh and he uploaded each video on the same day corresponding to the original updates now he's doing his own original series and I am very excited to see how it goes
I really liked how believably awkward the narration was, like he wasn't sure how to talk to a camera, while also getting slowly more comfortable in front of it, warming up to it.
I will say this about caving. The early days folks were INSANE. Burning lamps, fuel you measured in pounds per hour... I mean, you still DO, but batteries last so much longer and LED are so much more efficent....
Aside from the faithfulness to the story... how well is the acting wtf?? It feels nothing like they're following any script, it's so natural, relatable and immersive. I love it!
THIS. I'm extremely picky about acting quality and a lot of projects lose my interest purely because the lines are clunky and its obvious that they're reading off a script. This one feels like there's no script at all, like he's just got a general idea of what to cover in his brain and he's making the details up on the fly. It's super impressive and I hope more projects can match this level of immersion!
The scariest part of watching the series for me was how he actually did all of these things for the shots. The blood can be fake, but he is actually climbing into small crevices, and recording footage in the dark. It provides so much real anxiety into these moments. It is dedication to the art, and I respect them for that so much. I'm really happy this project was undertaken by people with experience in what they were doing.
Nightmind is such a boon for me as a lover of horror who just cannot watch horror films and series. I can read horror books or comics, I can listen to horror podcasts and people telling tales, but I just can't take witnessing it in a movie. Nightmind lets me experience the great series without getting overwhelmed and not feeling alone. And I've loved the Ted the Caver story for years, so I'm super excited to watch this! Thank you Nightmind!
A nuance to Ted the caver I haven’t heard talked about is that the story was written to be read by his friends and family specifically not just any old internet dweller so I wonder if there are nuances to his behavior and word choice throughout the story that most people can’t pick up on because they don’t know ted
honestly as someone who does not have a creative mind whatsoever, this is really motivating. it proves you don't *have* to write your own story from scratch to make an amazing unfiction/horror series.
ted the caver is such an important piece of media. I think it really did an amazing job at setting a standard for creepypasta stories, its extremely alluring premise combined with its level of ambiguity is so amazing
As soon as Nick uploads, I go straight to his description and watch the material. I’ve been conditioned. Why wait until I’m told to do so? I’ve watched the entire series, and I’ll be commenting on it before I watch this video. It’s long, but not too long. There are some slow burning moments, but they kept it reasonably interesting. Every upload has something rewarding. The execution for a film adaptation of an old unfiction blog in found footage format was handled masterfully. The climax hits like a sledge hammer. It ends on a cliffhanger, but with a heavy and dreadful finality to it. Its strength is building hope and optimism, just to shatter it. If you know the original story, you’ll still be rewarded for watching it. But if you go in completely blind, it will certainly hit even harder. 10/10 for what it is.

I remember biting my nails hoping that Ted and B would make it out okay each time, dreading to read the next paragraph/entry as it could be the last. It was an amazing story back then, and this is an absolutely amazing retelling! I cannot stress how much I love this series!
Had to come back to the video to mention this: this SPECIFIC story is so god damn in my exact "Terror Zone" that I was stressing just from what you showed. Didn't even go to the video series yet, just tried reading the page since you mentioned it's still live. I had to nope out of that TOO, because even just reading the words and looking at some of the photos had me uncomfortably freaked out. Like bravo to both creators. this is the first time we went and watched the original material before proceeding with the videos - cave horror is just easier to digest . looooved it!
I absolutely remember the Ted's Caving Page story from back in the day (I was in my late 20s at that time). It's amazing that someone adapted it into a found footage-style video and did it _so well._ (The creator was probably a child or maybe even a toddler when the original story appeared. That makes me feel incredibly ancient.) Bravo!
Ted the Caver is an old and (rightfully) incredibly loved, amazing story and I am delighted at the dedication of this work. Excited for his personal project, too. If he pours as much interest and detail into it as he did with this project, it is going to be amazing. Also so many people are going to rediscover this story now!!! Exciting.

16 minutes in and I’m having to pause because the footage is giving me ANXIETY. Caving is nightmarish and this feels so real. Very authentic and immersive from the jump.
oh this is so special to me, ted the caver and dionaea house were literally what kicked off my love of unfiction/internet horror. i didnt even know there was a video version of it too! and its GOOD? im so so so so joyful right now
i caught the watch party over on the twitch channel, and ended up liking it so much I made my dad watch it with me again over dinner xD and then of course I went and read the original site, I'd never heard of it before the youtube series and I'm glad I came across it eventually!
One thing this project knocks out of the park is the editing: there are way, way, waaaay too many YT horror projects that are supposed to take place in the '90s/'00s but use clearly modern video editing with a VHS filter slapped on top. Ted's Caving Journal actually looks like it was shot by some guy on an old camcorder, which makes it so much more effective. This project also gets my applause for avoiding lazy jumpscares, and all its special effects are used smartly (and sparingly) so I was never taken out of the story by poor compositing or janky animation. I also think everyone should read the original: not only is it the great-grandfather of all unfiction/creepypasta, it's incredibly well written, and the photos add so much atmosphere that's just distinct enough from the video series to give it a unique vibe (IMO)
it's 5 am, thanks too you nightmind my sleep schedule is fucked and I see faces in the corner of my vision. Great adaptation, thanks very much, goodnight and i'll be seeing you again.
In the first few seconds, I figured he was South African and now I'm trying to figure out the cave. It's a bit too lush for Gauteng and if that waterfall is real, I can't can't think of any I've been to like this. I'm guessing MP. Maybe Sabi or Sudwala. Or maybe it's just a shallow one on a property and they're experts with the staging. Really looking forward to watching the full thing.
Haven’t watched past 6 minutes yet as of typing, but had to go back and reread the original. 10 years ago, as a wee net explorer on my grandma’s computer, browsing the creepypasta wiki, ted the caver was magical. I read the first couple paragraphs copy pasted to the wiki, but then I thought about the note they’d left at the top with a link to the original source. Clicking through the genuinely old website and opening the photos in new tabs to see them made for an experience that definitely left some kind of impression on me.

Maybe some day when I'm planning to go somewhere I'll put the playlist on my laptop just to earn them some views because CLEARLY THEY DO GOOD WORK. I am just too chicken to actually watch it.
I can't wait to check this one out, I haven't read the original story so it'll be full of surprises for me and I adore a good found footage. Thanks for sharing as always. 💜 And congrats on the 10 years!!
be right back, nick!!! have to go watch it now
The new series the channel is doing has been Immaculate so far
Wow so far absolutely amazing and far better than anything playing at the local Cineplex!! So many talented creators put there right now I mean I don't even watch TV anymore I'm all on RUclips. Stellar analysis as always.
Oh wow, a Ted the Caver movie, done well? Yes pls. I remember when the original story went up and its lived in my head rent free ever since.
Anyone else get reminded of the Lost John’s Cave episode of Magnus Archives? Inspired by the same source I guess?
Yessss I was thinking the same thing!! I wouldn't be surprised if Johnny was inspired by this story !
Classic episode.
i was in the mood for something spooky tonight, and this delivered with perfect timing.. watching the series rn! thank you nick!
Man, I remember first reading the story. So much nostalgia over it and that time, probably around 2011 or so. Yeah, I discovered it really late lol
I was so happy to see that this was a thing! The original story was so chilling, and to see it recreated on film so faithfully and with so much love is a massive treat.
I'm so happy to see this story being given the light of day again! I remember listening to the story on RUclips when I was younger! Definitely going to go watch the series when I'm home from work ❤❤
Reading the original Ted the Caver was one of the first things that got me into creepypastas and such, many years ago. I loved it. I had no idea someone had adapted it! This is awesome!
Okay just started this lovely journey and already noticing red flags three minutes in lol.. His caving partner was injured only to have that be glossed over and it's all, "Oh no, he's fine now! He can even go caving again!" O_O yeah, okay guys! Love this stuff.
It's cool that this got an adaptation, and i really hope they actually nailed it. Ted's Caving Page and The Diaonaea House are the absolute pinnacle of creepypastas.
THANK YOU NM, IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS AAAAAA XD
The amount of excitement in these comments and the video itself really shows and it makes me so greatful to be allowed to experience this
I've been loving the approach you've been taking to these series you cover, you've been tossing the line out, swishing and bobbing it about to catch our intrigue, luring us in with that little tidbit, and the moment we go to bite, you set that hook and then direct us to the three course full meal. You share just enough now to make us want to check out these incredible new projects.
Now I know what I'm doing this fine summer evening
I'm french and i just wanna thank, thank you so much u don't know what you have create about feldup your the best . THANK YOU.
Ive always loved this internet tail, back when the story first was making rounds as a kid i thought it was real. (Shocker I know, kids are just the hardest bunch to convince.)
Ted the Caver resurfacing now is *chef's kiss*
Ted the Caver is one of my favorite online horror stories, it's cool to see Night Mind talk about it & show off a cool adaption of the story someone worked on
Gotta love the work that went into this stuff
So excited for nicks new model dropping tomorrow 😊😊
I've found your channel back when Welcome Home started but then i lost track on you now i found you again with one of my favorite's creepypasta and you show me a new way to enjoy it now through a series of videos truly glad of have found you again sir with a sexy voice and the best stories to tell
this is the first time we went and watched the original material before proceeding with the videos - cave horror is just easier to digest . looooved it!
I just heard about this from another channel and so happy to get to hear the amazing voice of our favorite extra dimensional entity discuss it too!
It's so good! And how he uploaded each entry on the matching date is really cool
Exciting.
i forget how i found out about this, but it's so good, glad you are covering it. they stuck to the original perfectly imo.
Wow I remember spending so many hours reading the whole story (Has it really been 20 years!? Dang...)
Thank you for letting us know about this series! I've always been left wanting more from the story, so I'll definitely go check it out! :3
Yay! More night mind videos!
Holy shit, Ted the caver always makes me lose sleep….guess I’m never sleeping again…
I love the storytelling advice and passion for craft. You give me motivation and guidance to tell a proper story.
You know, Your content has always come across as familiar, comforting, in spite of subject material. I never really got it. Then, I watched one of ur videos and saw ur sona, and u mentioned ur husband. Now, I understand. You remind me a lot of a someone who used to be a close friend. You have a similar soothing voice. Thanks for your content, its something I keep coming back to to comfort watch.
16 minutes in and I’m having to pause because the footage is giving me ANXIETY. Caving is nightmarish and this feels so real. Very authentic and immersive from the jump.
I love how sensual you can make consuming media sound.
great video as always! thanks for sharing with us
I do have to say a Big pet peeve of mine is bad acting, but this Comes off very natural and realistic. A breath of fresh air really..
oh this is so special to me, ted the caver and dionaea house were literally what kicked off my love of unfiction/internet horror. i didnt even know there was a video version of it too! and its GOOD? im so so so so joyful right now
Ok I’m sold. I’ll watch through now while I’m fighting a fever and again when I’m feeling better. Ty for finding a gem ❤
Finally, one I knew about before NightMind covered it!
Edit: Ooh, I didn't know about the new videos, so Nick got me again.
So excited for the live!
i caught the watch party over on the twitch channel, and ended up liking it so much I made my dad watch it with me again over dinner xD and then of course I went and read the original site, I'd never heard of it before the youtube series and I'm glad I came across it eventually!
I've seen the original videos on the YT channel and the production and quality is amazing.
it's 5 am, thanks too you nightmind my sleep schedule is fucked and I see faces in the corner of my vision.
Dang nice detective work 👏
This was such an amazing take on the original. Very well done!
