Xhaka and Henderson would be good examples of carrileros imo. Both cover for attacking wingbacks in Tierney and Trent respectively, especially last season.
Great one Neil. TBH, I don't use a Carrilero as I tend to use FBs on support to help the flanks or an Anchorman in DM. Mind you, it may be a handy passing option out wide when there's an advance WB ahead to build some triangles. Which brings me on to my suggestion of a role to investigate - Wide Playmaker. I think it is a combination of a wide Trequesta and a Mezzala on the flank. A winger would hopefully race down the wing to put in dangerous crosses, but the wide playmaker should be the go to passing option to help spread the defence out wide for some juicy diagonal balls into the box!
How about a video about the Poacher role? I'm not sure it's used much these days, certainly at the higher levels, so it might be interesting to see how it might work at say a Liverpool or Man City.
Kinda want try a double carrilero. Just imagining the carrileros working as the 3rd man in passing triangles on either side, whilst also dropping in to cover flanks with advancing wingbacks.
I just signed tommaso pobega as i wanted a mid but he has a clause in his contract that he wants to be played as a carillero, so i might give it a go lol. Love this series, keep it up mate.
I've come relatively late to your channel Neil but am enjoying the content and this series has been awesome. Are you planning to do forwards at some stage? It could also be fascinating to see your take on the different keeper roles - a bit less sexy perhaps but I've yet to see any really good coverage of keeper roles.
Was that a Rangnick tactic I spied?! I've been trying to replicate it and playing around with the two CM's, my next test was using two carrilero's. Would love to hear your opinion on that or what your thoughts would be for the two CM roles?
It was a very brief one just for the purpose of this vid. From what I've seen Fred is operating like a carrilero, next to him it looks like a defensive midfielder, possibly a deep bwm. I know a few people have done vids on that tactic so far
@@StingerNeilDI've only ever downloaded one tactic, as I like to do my own, but it was your FM21 Barca one with the Treq up front, it was sensational. I'm definitely going to try a carrilero as the left CM, but not sure McTominay plays that deep. I'll try a CM on defend with a few PI's because he does ping a long range pass now and again. I've nailed the press trap and everything else, it's the CM's I'm debating. As always, class well delivered content.
@@StingerNeilD You definitely should. I wasn't getting much in terms of numbers from the SS so moved that up to a F9 and goals / assists doubled compared to the SS. I'd be interested to see you recreating tactics into FM, but not just for download, doing a video on the thought process of why you went with each team instruction / position role based on real life plays of that tactic. But understand you can't please all so just a thought.
I’d love to try this role more, the description puts it in a way saying that 2 together work best. Any thoughts on a diamond with Cailero next to a roaming playmaker
Ancelotti didn't get the best out of Doucoure for Everton because in my opinion he was played as a Carillero to cover for James Rodriguez when the Colombian played from the right. Doucoure would slot in almost as a right midfielder to do all the work James didn't. It's a tough role to find a real life counterpart for.

Similar to Rodri I think you're right, in that that wouldn't be there primary role but would do it during the match at certain points
7:19 what on earth did ronaldo do there!

Used one in 21. Very effective. Will look to re-explore it I think!

Love the poacher. Not used much as its a pretty static role and loads of teams play with only 1 up so are reluctant to use it

Love the sound of that
Love this serie!

Man wants to run as little as possible 😂
Glad I watched this, I’ve been using a carrilero, but not what I thought it was 😂
Hope it helps in a small way 👍
Very well explained 👏🏽🔝
Nice video
I think it's pronunced Carrey -Lero

Thank you buddy
I love this role I have a player call yaya sithole and he does it great for me
😂 the name
Nice

@@siredmunddorrance4350 thank you man. I loved that barca tactic. Might actually revisit that...Your thought process on the CM sounds good to me

Ward-Prowse would make a great carrillero. If he makes a good box-box midfielder he makes for a good carrillero.
Great shout
Can you do Segundo Volante please keep up the good work this video's are good!
I'll take a look mate 👍
@@StingerNeilD cheers I think that's a fairly under used one as well
Rabiot at Juve is a good example. 2 carrileros should work perfectly in 4-3-1-2 / 4-1-2-1-2 with attacking wingbacks.
Yes he's ideal
I’d love to try this role more, the description puts it in a way saying that 2 together work best. Any thoughts on a diamond with Cailero next to a roaming playmaker
Could work well. I use one when I have a attacking full back or WB on that side

Agreed mate. I think players more often do it as part of a match not as a full defined role if that makes sense.
What template is that? Like the Rodri screen
Tatu skin by wozzie
LOvely breakdown
Camavinga at Real Madrid is a decent option for one of these. (think I've spelt that right)
Good shout that.
Are you using any skin or something?
Tatu skin this one
@@StingerNeilD yeah, thanks. Also great vid
Would you say it's ok to use 2 carrilero on both sides of a diamond or is one enough?
Absolutely. Helps if you have aggressive full backs
@@StingerNeilD thank you 👍
I live for these videos!
Any chance we can look at the F9. I seem to have a love hate relationship with it lately.
Keep up the good work 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Matt thank you man
