I cook my oxtails in the crockpot as well until they are falling of the bone. I like to use the beef onion soup mix and beef broth instead of the water. Looks delicious Miriam.

My mother would make cornbread then switch to Jiffy but she added more butter and oil with two boxes instead of one no matter what it called for. It taste the same. We never followed the instructions on the Jiffy box. When making cornbread from scratch use 1:1 cornbread to flour to make it taste like cake.
My Jamaican momma would approve of this. When I saw the browning, my heart smiled. You really know what you are doing. I don’t have patience to cook the oxtails overnight, so we throw it in the pressure cooker.

Hi Mariam I love what you do... I love me some oxtail baby, I'm from Trinidad when I do my oxtail I season it with all my seasonings and when I'm going to cook it I heat up the pot when it's hot I put in some oil and I put some brown sugar, when the sugar melt and look like a caramel color I put the oxtail I turn top when all the oxtail look brown and nice I put it into my slow cooker overnight... When call it stewing the meat this way you will also have your gravy
Miriam- you can make homemade cornbread. I learned by using the recipe from the Aunt Jemima buttermilk meal with the green writing- use the recipe on the side. I use this recipe to make my cornbread for dressing but I add other stuff as well.
This is spectacular! I’ve only made oxtails, once. They take so long, but you’ve shown me, I should try it again. The outcome is worth it! It’s just so pretty.

Jiffys is good, however have you ever tried Krusteaz? Soooo good
homemade 1 dry cup flour half cup cornmeal 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tea baking powder 1/2 cup sugar 2 sticks butter and milk of choice
