To be honest, after a 12.5 hour shift plus my long commute to and from work, coming home to spend more than 30 minutes in the kitchen will be suicidal. Besides it is practically bedtime when I get home. That is why I meal prep. My fridge is loaded so that when I get home I can focus on getting some sleep...which is not so easy anyway. Of course by meal prepping I save us a lot of money ...because those ordered lunches and drive through meals add up quick! Best of all we know what we're eating.

My husband is now retired, but when he was in the military he did this for me. Cooked like 4 meals. I was in corporate America and we had two daughters. I think it boils down to love cooking, it’s not a gender thing. I love to cook too but I think it’s love language to me❤. It is way of helping so I don’t have to come home after work and do it.

This was so amazing. But as a single working mom, I could not stand up for so many hours to cook and portion out food. It was worth the time and I hope you get a good back and foot massage after doing all of this. Wow. Wow. You have won the trophy of mother, wife, daughter of the year for sure
Why
This is nothing new. Black women have been doing this since they were born. They would cook the food and bring it to the men's work place at noon when everyone ate lunch.
Back in those days there were no fridge or microwave to warm up the food. Some would put the food in what's called a "carrier". It keeps food warm. Men lived longer back then and they were not overweight.
Today's women are lazy. They have less house work because they have time saving devices now.
Women would wash clothes with their hands. It took 3 days to finish.
@@busybee2033 these young people don't know that this was how women took care of their husbands and children. They cook healthy meals. Kids took lunch to school and husband took lunch to work or the women brought their lunch to them at 12pm if they work near the home or they take the bus and deliver the food to them.
@@eileenwatt8283 I agree it is not new. I'm from the Caribbean, so I did not grow up with all the technology for the kitchen. But I'm no longer living there and have long work days, so time is not available to do the same thing as a stay at home mom will do. My mom was a stay at home mom till we were about 7 years old, everything was fresh and from scratch. No laziness. Most working mothers are not lazy, we are over worked and tired. But I see what you were trying to say.
@@eileenwatt8283 yes, it’s nothing new for us africans, but believe me so many have dropped that kind of hard work even back home in Africa let alone in the US. I work 12hr shifts and do a lot of cooking too as I barely eat outside food but this is to a different level. I see my fellow African co-workers ordering food to pick up after work to feed their family. I applaud this lady and hope her family do too.

It's great to open my fridge and have so many ready to eat meals. So cost effective and worry free not having to cook for myself everyday. You kept that kitchen CLEAN while you prepped and cooked!!!!!! I love to cook too, but prepping and cooking this much, when I finished I would have to take to my bed! AHAHAHA!!! Thank you for the inspiration, eating out; I am always complaining about the food, sometimes it's good, sometimes it isn't, there is no consistency and I don't like spending money on subpar food. What you are doing is really the most healthiest way to eat, when cooking at home you control what goes into your family's food. WELL DONE!!!!!!

God Bless you! This is how I was raised and what is normal to me and my husband was raised on a farm so was used to it also! We raised 3 children and I cooked 6 days a week from scratch and even when the kids had hockey at dinner time, I would feed the kids early and prepare a plate for my husband to eat at the arena when he arrived there after work. I can tell you that my kids have good eating habits and are so grateful for it, even though they complained there were no Dunkaroos or pop tarts in the house like the neighbours. Lol. This was my love language also but I called it a labour of love! I had the privilege of staying home but for busy working parents or single moms, it's worth it to prep in batches for the week like washing meats and chopping vegetables--huge time time saver when preparing meals.
Nah! Our mommy cooked home cooked meals every day and we still got pop tarts, cereal and treats!

You r an extremely wonderful cook! I just try to imitate your way of cooking! Friends, let's all unite & encourage our men, brothers, fathers, nephews, etc. to find joy in what they r preparing in the kitchen. Just like how we women can learn something new from another culture, men can too. What would we ladies do if there were no men. We love them & in all aspects of life, we have to show appreciation for them. We don-t want to feel less. Like I said before, it's how they were brought up from youth. However, it's still not too late for those who can't cook, to learn. We love everybody!

Yes Queen. This is what I mean. Mothers have no excuse to not have food in their fridge no matter how many kids. There's many ways to always have something to eat. My Mom was this way and she worked night shifts. We never went hungry.

I just came across your channel and I love the meal prep ahead of time, I personally have never done that myself but it's "super awesome"
to watch the passion and love you have for cooking your cultural foods.
My kids have grown and are now teenagers I used to cook alot for them growing up but now my husband does most of the cooking.
We try to have a balance of western foods i.e rice dishes, pasta, spag bol, mash potatoes with meat,
roasts, then twice or more per week have our Pacific Island Foods that we love i.e raw fish, lu sipi with cassava, chop suey, bbq lamb flaps, povi with ufi or taro and a salad so delicious!
And when there is no time or we can't be bothered to cook buy and
love fish n chips or takeaways McDonald's (not often) indian food
or pizza.
