    Becky, I’ve had my Dream Machine for 5 years & never realized I could do this!! It really would have come in handy last week, when I turned a *test out* or trial embroidery design into a pin cushion. I’m tempted to take it all apart, just to try this method!! You are a fantastic teacher, with clear concise instructions...LOVE you & your channel!!!

    I love this. I will try to get a Luminaire XP3 today.. It is quite expensive, but seeing all you can do looks like it will be well worth it. Thank you so much for your wonderful, clear, step by step, explanation.

    Thanks Becky,
    Long time viewer first time commenter. I followed your directions to background quilt around a drawing my grandson did that we stitched. I was going in circles until I watched your clear instructions. I am so very pleased with the results.
    Keep up the good work. I for one enjoy and learn a great deal from you.

    I think it is interesting that several fill patterns are the same as the Kimberbell background, I.e. chain link or chicken wire. I have been doing the Kimberbell background on the non-embroidered blocks. Very different from the embroidered ones. Thanks for inspiring me to work on this quilt. I wouldn’t be this far if I didn’t have you to encourage me.😄

    This is very interesting to watch. I do not have brother sewing machine’s so it would not apply to mine. I would do this in my digitizing software.

    Loved the video. Apologies if already answered. Can I use the scan and erase method with a purchased end-to-end design (ie DBJJ) or only a built-in IQ Designer pattern?

  • @mad_gar2672
    @mad_gar2672 3 года назад +4

    Use the stamp button to bring in the design and you won’t have to erase anything. Either way works great.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад

      Interesting. I'll have to figure out how to do that. Thanks!

    • @mad_gar2672
      @mad_gar2672 3 года назад +1

      @@PowerToolsWithThread you really do read all your comments. Love your videos. And to get you started...with design up in embroidery mode, edit to make a “stamp”. It saves a outline of design. Exit out and while in the design center, after making the square around the design, bring in the stamp you saved ( I think it looks like a flower button). The rest is the same. You’re right...this is why we bought these amazing machines! I love my luminaire.

    For those that have not got this type of machine...could the quilting be done first as this would be the way I would do this and then all the applique and wording be done on top afterwards...just a suggestion

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад +2

      It sure could! However, the machine does a double vs. a single stitch so you'll have a tiny bit heavier thread line than what you would download from Kimberbell.

    • @christinebaker5921
      @christinebaker5921 3 года назад

      Dawn Thompson thank you for your question. I don’t have a new machine either so appreciate your question. I think I will order some of the KB quilting designs and just repeat them instead of buying the whole package.

    I was wondering if you could do cross stitch patern by coping what is on the fabric? Instead of needle work and sew by machine. I have a Destiny 2.

  • @debbiegoines697

    Could sticky stabilizer be used instead of the tape?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Год назад +1

      I don't recommend sticky stabilizer instead of tape. You really need something to hold the top edge of the fabric down that will allow the foot to pass over the fabric without getting caught underneath.

    Can this be done on any machine? I have the Innovis 1700. Thanks for your help

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 года назад

      I think you need a machine with a Design Center of some type in it. I'm not sure if the 1700 has that.

    i can do this with my Dream machine 2 ??? or only on the
    luminaire??

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад

      I'm not sure. I know you have the scanning feature, but I don't know if the Dream will do the stippling around a design or only do it in a set pattern without the ability to erase. Take a look by following my steps and see if yours looks the same. Good luck!
