- As an RAF helicopter and police aircraft circle overhead, President of the United States of America, Joe Biden and his 30+ vehicle motorcade arrive in Glasgow for the first day of the COP26 climate conference. He arrived under heavy security provided by the Metropolitan Police protection command and the United States secret service.

TLDR: Planes are bad, planes arent this bad.
Youd bet real wrong try smaller company in a high emission sector maybe. Personal carbon footprint as a concept was coined by big oil and aimed at making people view emissions as a much more personal issue than it is. Industry and shipping, things that are large scale and daily, will allways laughably dwarf single trips in terms of greenhouse gases (cruise ships tend to punch above theyr weight tho since they use real icky fuel)
The day to day traffic is much more of a concern than this one off trip along the M8. Nice catch.

The Army’s currently helping out the Scottish Ambulance Service as they’re so short staffed, yet they manage to find a crewed front line vehicle to follow the convoy around, despite the fact he has his own medical team / vehicle present wherever he goes. It doesn’t happen in London or the G7 in Cornwall, why here?

So much for climate change with that convoy. Mind you, that isn't including the aircraft used. Air Force 1 ( Boeing747) , plus the back up Air Force 1, plus the E-4B (747) flying war room, plus 3 C-17 heavy lift cargo aircraft, containing 3 VH-60 Helicopters and then we have the US State Dept aircraft for the other US Diplomats C-32 (Boeing 757) and C-40 (Boeing 737), plus various US military owned business jet types (Gulfstreams), so that would be about 13-15 aircraft in total. Dispersed around Scotland, plus Stansted and Luton in England.
Idiots are gonna complain about the climate impact of this motorcade, whilst I'm out here wondering which dude in the Secret Service authorised the motorcade to get driven into what is clearly a bottleneck with no room to potentially maneuver in an attack.
Yes, it's Glasgow, an attack isn't likely, but the point is to assume it's likely and probable EVERYWHERE. One car blocking the road, a conveniently placed bomb, even a car bomb (considering the cars parked on the route that I BET they probably didn't check, and short of trying to reverse, that motorcade is going NOWHERE fast.
Leaving them completely exposed.

I live literally 30 seconds from that slip road in runs down by the Hilton hotel, and where the video was taken is across the road from the Marriott Hotel. The motorcade is turning right to head to the hydro via the express way ( 2 min ) away.

I mean I don't know anything about security but that limo has 4 doors that weigh the same as a Boeing 757 passenger door, it's near RPG and chemical weapons proof, it has the President's blood type in a fridge somewhere in its boot, windows thicker than my ex, it has tear gas cannons hidden in the front bumper, a rumored nightvision camera somewhere, and it can raise and lower its suspension like a lowrider to avoid another US Embassy in Dublin 2011 incident where the previous limo got its suspension stuck on a ramp. And you can call on a nuclear strike from inside.
But what I'm really curious about is the hidden hamburger compartment that was "reportedly" built for President Trump since this version of the limo first debuted in 2020.

I realise that was likely a joke, but on the off chance it wasn’t it’s actually fairly standard operating procedure to have an ambulance follow the presidential motorcade at all times. While he has a personal doctor with him in the motorcade it is often supplemented with an ambulance from wherever the president is visiting.
