@TapMeOut did we watch different fights? yilmaz got at least three times hard in the stomach with spinning kicks and a couple of times hard with low spinning. and he dropped Masato once. and the only think Masato could do is a left low kick, which definitely didn't 'kill Serkan's leg' as some ppl here say. It was an even fight but of course Masato the pop idol takes a judge decision...
How the heck do you people figure the Turk won that fight? He barely landed any shots. I'm not a fan of either fighter, so no bias coming from me. I'm calling it like I see it. The Japanese fighter was landing leg kick after leg kick, and a few punches to boot. He concentrated on scoring, which is why he won. He simply outscored the Turk.
wtf u talking bout the only thing he did was hit his leg yilmaz hit masatos leg too and did more dmg. dont forget the body kiks that yilmaz got on him and some of the headshots. i duno we both have different thoughts but all i was sayin that the match was boring.
guys, yilmaz only did some impressive kicks.u can't say that he won the fight cause he kicked a few times..he got many low kicks he couldn't avoid.how about that? he had no defense at low kicks
I laughed a little inside when Serkan lifted up his hand. He may have scored some heavy blows on the first round, but Masato destroyed him with the low kicks. Great fight
yes there was a ton of force behind them but the impact was...there was a lot of pushing not enough impact for the kick to be effective. masato's leg kicks on the other hand did some noticeble damage. they both deserved the fight, but masato fought more effectively
@SherAFG So what's your connection? that Turks trace descent to the Altai mountains? and what if I like Zambidis as well, who is Greek? and what is with being objective? Everybody is entitled to their opinions, it's the judges who should be objective, but in K1 they are not.
That may hold true much of the time but that was a clear win for Masato. By the end of the second he had beaten Yilmaz's leg raw and was in control by the end, the third was all him. Yilmaz is a mean SOB and is a lot better than his record suggests but guys like Masato are just a tier above.
For one thing it was in japan so they gave it to there fighter for another thing Yilmaz has won more medals and fights than you will ever dream of winning.
Well all you need to do is condition the legs and train for low kicks. There are aspects of TKD that could give trouble to MT fighters. TKD's kicking range is much longer that MT, which is great for the outside. Serkan is an amazing talent, however flawed. Things he could work on in his career is strengthening his legs, defense and offense for low kicks, learn more hand combos, and especially learn to mentally relax and not go at a sprint only to gas later in the fight.
well fought, Masato DEF. won that fight. I thought Serkan had it when he landed alot back spinning kicks in the beginning, but then i noticed the plethora of low kicks from Masato....then i knew he'd win. but it def. was not a one-sided fight.
Wow. I never knew that. I know the balls is the hardest target, but the stomach is pretty hard too, and they were landing them. Bruce Lee once taught, "If the opponent has you in submission what do you do? ... You bite." When your life is under threat, you'll quickly forget about pride and the way of the warrior. In a fight, you've gotta think survival. Plus it'd be silly to try eye gouging and a fish hook with gloves...
Commentator was terrible..."those turning kicks" Damn it..it's called a back kick! I do have to say it was an amazing fight. Masato really did amazing reading him and really showing his skill and coorindation for fighting. Those leg kicks are wicked.
Yeah I'm a Serkan and Masato fan, and Masato won that. The commentator meant that it is too late to swing the decision, he comments on how aggressive Serkan is, and how Masato is using skill.
See, i don't mind comments like that. In fact, you said something sensible. You watched this fight from an objective point of view and gave your opinion. But to have a skewed point of view from the beginning just because the guy is from your country and turning this into a turkey vs japan fight is ridiculous.
close fight, but the way i saw it, masato landed more hits but yilmaz landed more big ones. one of the most tiring things a fighter will experience is missing repeatedly and you can clearly see that taking a toll on yilmaz in the third round.. nonetheless the scoring was close, but the defending champion had the upper hand as far as scoring is concerned.
Aronikun my friend, I'l tell you what am struggling to get over.. The fact that you use words such as 'Game' and 'Played', when talking about Yilmaz Vs Masato. These aren't words you use to describe a combat between two great fighters, which shows the depth of your understanding, anyways, I still believe the 'Fight' was won by Yilmaz, he was the instigator of the exchanges throughout and was solid in his approach
That was his problem though, he just started trying to land single power shots instead of setting them up. Masato took advantage of that and picked him apart.
true, not a one-sided fight, gladly Serk doesn't know how to block a low kick or even to try to kick back. he just wanted to end the show with his super favourite spin kick.
why is masato not real MT? Every fighter is different. "real MT" may or may not be a good matchup against Serkan, really depends on the style of the fighter.
you obviously have never been hit with a spinning back kick before. saying a spinning back kick has poor damage power is like saying a lunging overhand right has poor damage power. the whole point of the technique is power by sacrificing accuracy and an opening
Seems Yilmaz was frustrated thanks to Masato’s leading & counter low kicks, Yilmaz couldn’t really mount a consistent/successful offense to score the win.
Yilmaz is areal tae-kwon-do fighter and he should have done some lowkick(and block) training in holland(cuz they are the best) before he started with k-1. It is spectacular what he does with his legs but u cant (very hard to) win k-1 matches with only Taek-won-do skills(wich he is great at). Dont know his age or if he returns to k-1 but i liked to watch him fight, and i wish to c some more....
I won't deny that the japanese are known for favoring their own fighters but seriously guys! Look at it from a judging persepctive why dont ya? It's not all about the big reverse turn kick dragon spins or whatever the hell they're called. The fact is that they rarely landed. Almost every time Masato didn't get out of the way, he blocked it and that means that it doesn't score whereas Masato consistently scored with leg kicks and boxing. The fact is that Masato was scoring with more effect
Dude, chill out :) spinning kicks aren't ugly, they're effective. Besides, the fact that he can actually pull off spinning kicks in a kickboxing match shows that he has great skill. Besides, how would you know that spinning kicks are the only thing he can do. Have you met him? I'm sure spinning kicks are just his style, and its a good one. Relax dude, judging people won't make you feel good.
i can tell you dont fight at all almost all of yilmaz hit landed on the forehead or slipped the damage masato has a more good shots landed and if you said he did more damage on the leg how come the turk looks like his leg is broken
Man what can I say, that was definitely Masato's match, he's just lucky he didn't catch one of those spinning kicks to the face otherwise that would've been it. Over!
wow this was agreat fight and i think one more round would have decide it and i think they both would of liked that, masato is a great fighter but i really think yerkan its a better overall fighter just cause of the skill it takes to deliver htis kicks with presicion still really close fight
i see this fight on tv and the Commentator say the winner was serkan yilmaz , but masato has to stay in the finals......... in the end was a great fight , the both was great ,is not anyone who fight an equal footing with Masato
i think you have really pretty kicks but dont think your eally understand how it works if you dont think it was fair masato got the 2nd round and at least a tie in the third... if they got a tiebreaker yilmaz will be broken
Most of the roundhouses never landed. He's got a good roundhouse but he needs to not use it less often. Jadamba is much better at disguising his roundhouse than Yilmaz; and Drago is even better.
He who commented this fight was right, those big shots från Yilmaz do no good if they can not score, and Masato is always moving.Yilmaz should forget about those spinning kicks and try to work on scoring. Masato deserve the win in this fight.
Well, there is a timer. And they stop fighting when the bell goes. Does that ever happen in a real "fight"? I don't doubt that if Yilmaz landed one of those kicks, Masato would be going down and if there was no time limit, it'd be up to the fittest, or the lucky. I stand by what I say. This is a game and Masato won.
exactly. I mean, you can't say anything in any match yilmaz fights in. you try to make a constructive comment but the yilmaz fans out there just won't discuss it in a mature way. He's a good fighter and it's a good thing to encourage and admire a fighter from your country but come on, enough of the nationalistic worship.
yilmaz's kicks were too wild, too telegraphed, masato used basic kicks to destroy yilmaz's lead leg. Yilmaz's spinning back kicks didnt hurt masato at all. they just pushed him. Yilmaz was too flashy, masato's style is superior
what, Buakaw is great fighter too, and in the ring he who scores most wins, it has nothing to do with the attitude, who said a fighter can not be bad ass?
the commentator....no comment....why cant he just say his name instead of calling him "the tur" and honestly, i cant help but laugh when I hear "tur" no racism here man
naaah...i think serkan would be limping the whole round and wouldn't be able to kick anymore. Masato just kicked him in the ass. you watched it didn't you?
The fact that he was even able to do spinning kicks in this fighht is amazing ne one try it ? ussually i get smacked or kicked in the legg before i can acually get behind XS Masato hes fast moves round alot andd strikes so hard and fast being able to dodge most of those kicks and land hard ass punches is pure skill
@KammiM Sorry to take so long to reply. Internet is a luxury when you are homeless. I do agree that they are great fighters. They are at the top but they will never show their true abilities in the ring.
If it was a real fight, all they'd have to do is land a soft punch to the balls then while they're withering around a stomp to the throat would k.o the opponent permanently. This is a game and these matches have rules. The rules are the same no matter where the matches are held and whoever judges them. Masato played better and he won. Get over it KammiM.
the only thing i can take away from masato is not using his hands in this fight he punches like a pro boxer if you watch his other fights.. but masato did win he leg kicked yilmaz alot if you disagree what you think if the fight continued for 2more rounds...
@TapMeOut
did we watch different fights? yilmaz got at least three times hard in the stomach with spinning kicks and a couple of times hard with low spinning. and he dropped Masato once. and the only think Masato could do is a left low kick, which definitely didn't 'kill Serkan's leg' as some ppl here say. What was Yilmaz not happy about? What did the two of them ..uh...discuss at 1:22?
good fight, for me Serkan Yilmas was the winner
Anyone know why Yilmaz didnt use back kicks as a counter? I would've thought it'd be more effective that way...
Seriously. Not the first time Japanese judges utilized favoritism.
wtf u talking bout the only thing he did was hit his leg yilmaz hit masatos leg too and did more dmg. dont forget the body kiks that yilmaz got on him and some of the headshots. i duno we both have different thoughts but all i was sayin that the match was boring.
Serkan should of thrown axe kicks, high kicks and he should of thrown a lot more boxing combos (he's significantly taller than masato)
Thank you very much :)
i agree with you, word of wisdom will always be needet ^^
Serkan Yilmaz is a great tkd fighter, but he doesn't fight like traditional tkd fighters do.
guys, yilmaz only did some impressive kicks.u can't say
that he won the fight cause he kicked a few times..he
got many low kicks he couldn't avoid.how about that?
he had no defense at low kicks
great fight its a pleasure see the serkan fight, hes diferent.
that spining kicks are unstoppable
I laughed a little inside when Serkan lifted up his hand. He may have scored some heavy blows on the first round, but Masato destroyed him with the low kicks. Great fight
yes there was a ton of force behind them but the impact was...there was a lot of pushing not enough impact for the kick to be effective. masato's leg kicks on the other hand did some noticeble damage. they both deserved the fight, but masato fought more effectively
i agree 100% he controlled the pace of the fight and landed the more damaging shots and got the only knock down
@SherAFG
So what's your connection? that Turks trace descent to the Altai mountains? and what if I like Zambidis as well, who is Greek? and what is with being objective? Everybody is entitled to their opinions, it's the judges who should be objective, but in K1 they are not.
Who are you talking to?
That may hold true much of the time but that was a clear win for Masato. By the end of the second he had beaten Yilmaz's leg raw and was in control by the end, the third was all him. Yilmaz is a mean SOB and is a lot better than his record suggests but guys like Masato are just a tier above.

i think they shud have went for an extra round.

i side with TapMeOut, though i'm a fan of Yilmaz...masato was far more merticulous and fought much smarter too...
i don't agree with most of what you said but hell, that last line had me laughing!
Yeah I'm a Serkan and Masato fan, and Masato won that. The commentator meant that it is too late to swing the decision, he comments on how aggressive Serkan is, and how Masato is using skill.
I got the fight even. the are both really great. Yilmaz has a great spin kick and masato has a killer leg round house.
See, i don't mind comments like that. In fact, you said something sensible. You watched this fight from an objective point of view and gave your opinion. why serkan lost ? it was in japan ;-)
Damn, Yilmaz is the number one Guard
Piercer and Breaker
serkan let his guard down too much thats why he lost
That was his problem though, he just started trying to land single power shots instead of setting them up. Masato took advantage of that and picked him apart.
true, not a one-sided fight, gladly Serk doesn't know how to block a low kick or even to try to kick back. he just wanted to end the show with his super favourite spin kick.
SO, just for the people who dont understand scoring... a strong fancy spin kick that lands dosent mean u get 100x more points, period
why is masato not real MT? Every fighter is different. "real MT" may or may not be a good matchup against Serkan, really depends on the style of the fighter.
the commentor pis me off. he calls a spinning hook kick a round kick.
Turkey
you obviously have never been hit with a spinning back kick before. saying a spinning back kick has poor damage power is like saying a lunging overhand right has poor damage power. the whole point of the technique is power by sacrificing accuracy and an opening

Dont know his age or if he returns to k-1 but i liked to watch him fight, and i wish to c some more....
how the hell did he win it?? He didn't get the points, its not about who has the prettiest kicks.
fastest spinning kicks on the planet probobley
Reverse roundhouse that is a spinning hook kick dummie.
I won't deny that the japanese are known for favoring their own fighters but seriously guys! Look at it from a judging persepctive why dont ya? He gave Masato a good fight which isn't easy. Serkan just couldn't deal with the handspeed.
why masato won the fight?
such a unfair fight .... home advantage for masato
indeed very clever, scoring points while the other dude keeps defending, smart fighter that masato
i can tell you dont fight at all almost all of yilmaz hit landed on the forehead or slipped the damage masato has a more good shots landed and if you said he did more damage on the leg how come the turk looks like his leg is broken
You obviously don't know much of the K-1 scoring system.

great fight masato.
he has a good manner and personality
i think you have really pretty kicks but dont think your eally understand how it works if you dont think it was fair masato got the 2nd round and at least a tie in the third... if they got a tiebreaker yilmaz will be broken
Good Technic from Masato, he broke the left leg of Serkan in order to prevent its Tae Kwon do ability. Long and dangerous but it's efficient.
Most of the roundhouses never landed. He's got a good roundhouse but he needs to not use it less often. Jadamba is much better at disguising his roundhouse than Yilmaz; and Drago is even better.
yeah except for those "desperate kicks" have landed him in being ranked in the top 10 kickboxers of his weight class in the world.
He who commented this fight was right, those big shots från Yilmaz do no good if they can not score, and Masato is always moving.Yilmaz should forget about those spinning kicks and try to work on scoring. Masato deserve the win in this fight.
@altaimountain well, in this case, they were...
cos he got more points! didn't you watch it?
because this fight was celebrated in japan
I want to see more Yilmaz style kicking in MMA.
Well, there is a timer. And they stop fighting when the bell goes. Does that ever happen in a real "fight"? I don't doubt that if Yilmaz landed one of those kicks, Masato would be going down and if there was no time limit, it'd be up to the fittest, or the lucky. I stand by what I say. for me serkan yilmaz kick ass with the most powreful kicks taekwondo
Both are skilled..Red is aggresive and firm, while i teh
exactly. I mean, you can't say anything in any match yilmaz fights in. you try to make a constructive comment but the yilmaz fans out there just won't discuss it in a mature way. He's a good fighter and it's a good thing to encourage and admire a fighter from your country but come on, enough of the nationalistic worship.
serkan trained taekwondo and kickboxing
@ketoras Yeah kinda funny he chickened out of his fight with Masato with his last minute injury.
lol i like the title. Turkish Samurai. ironically, taekwondo is korean. XD
yeah, by reverse roundhouse i think he means spinning hook kick or jump back kick? haha.. see ya!
I agree. Masato won his Buakaw fight the same way. What's with his fake bouncy style, anyway?
yilmaz's kicks were too wild, too telegraphed, masato used basic kicks to destroy yilmaz's lead leg. Yilmaz's spinning back kicks didnt hurt masato at all. they just pushed him. Yilmaz was too flashy, masato's style is superior
cok delı dovus ama yılmaz sen bu adamı yerdın ya helal olsun sana YILMAZ ONE NUMBER
what, Buakaw is great fighter too, and in the ring he who scores most wins, it has nothing to do with the attitude, who said a fighter can not be bad ass?
Nah man, it was Serkan's fight definetly
What the heck man, Yilmaz should have won that fight.
@altaimountain how objective.... A guy named altaimountain claims that a Turk got robbed.....
masato isnt muay thai. his kickboxing.
the commentator....no comment....why cant he just say his name instead of calling him "the tur" and honestly, i cant help but laugh when I hear "tur" no racism here man
naaah...i think serkan would be limping the whole round and wouldn't be able to kick anymore. Masato just kicked him in the ass. you watched it didn't you?
The fact that he was even able to do spinning kicks in this fighht is amazing
ne one try it ?
ussually i get smacked or kicked in the legg before i can acually get behind XS
Masato
hes fast moves round alot
andd strikes so hard and fast
being able to dodge most of those kicks
and land hard ass punches is pure skill

i hate how this commentator describes the athletes by their ethnic background..."the turk" "the thai"
great fight tho
Masato obviously won, and Yilmaz shouldn`t complain...
serkan just wasn't able 2 dominate muay thai this time
wow nice fight
that was the most distracting announcer i've ever heard.
masoto has a very good defans...but Serkan Yilmaz is ones best fighters in K1..........
serkan won that fight
any comenter of any TV say serkan fight better , but masato can´t stay out of the final matchs........
