can you explain? how would you get out of the hold? i mean i guess the obvious one is just push off his hands...but with the boxing gloves, or if there were no gloves, and he was clutching his hands together...what can you do to defend against that?
It's amazing that Serkan is good enough to stand with someone like Ludwig. I hope he works on the clinch and maybe ground technique because his TKD base is a great place to start.
Duane Ludwig is one of my favourites. It seems people round here haven't seen his KOTC fights. Guys, Duane is trained by Bas Rutten!!! I thought it was funny when Yilmaz tried to throw him and came off second best after the first. The guy is great on the ground too! Tough hard fighter with great stand-up accuracy. Once he slowed up Yilmaz with the clinch/knee combos it was game over.
Red is skilled in knee jabs.. and he make use of his every chance. As for the Blue he has to take note that his taekwondo kick needed longer distances to fully penetrate.. and he seems quite busy adjusting his hair.. so it would be best for a fighter to have shorter hair
I absolutely agree with you. Everyone has got a different way of fighting yilmaz. Masato and kohiruimaki went for his left leg. Ludwig went for the clinch and the knee strikes. Can't wait to see what buakaw will do. imo, buakaw will win though.
i couldnt agree with you more man. i train in tkd and mix boxing and use it in k-1 rules. i tried muay thai and it is so different it distracted me. kicks are different every thing is diferent.
Yilmaz is an awesome (probably the best) TKD fighter I've seen. Of course I could see how he wasn't use to this guy's possible wrestling/grappling/throwing skills..and maybe his muay thai (if it is muay thai)
Entertaining fight! Really hard to judge since 3rd round wasn't convincing at all. As for damage inflicted I guarantee Ludwig won the fight but I'm not sure how K-1 scores tbh and how positive they are to strikes from the clinch.
Definitely the right decision. Serkan landed some shots, but so did Ludwig, especially later in the fight, and Ludwig landed knee after knee after knee after knee after knee after knee after knee, completely unanswered. You'd have to be blind not to give the fight to him. Serkan doesn't look worse for the wear because most of his shots were to the torso. I bet if you saw him the day after, he'd be black and blue all over his midsection.
Because he's adapted his TKD to work in the kickboxing ring. TKD has punches, it's just not emphasized in it's demonstrations or in strictly TKD sparring. He obviously placed emphasis on it to compete in this. What he wears has nothing to do with his style and probably wears the shorts because either he prefers it, or because wearing pants gets too hot.
Yilmaz is a good TKD guy, but against a MT, Buakaw for example, those flashy spin kick can get him knocked the fucced out. Was he not in the K-1 tournament but didnt make it to the second round? Those flashy kicks takes too much energy, no matter your stamina.
Serkan just needs work on his patience, the Thai clinch, and more leg kick training. He is by far the best TKD representative I've ever seen in K-1. Against his level of competition and with the level of training he had in kickboxing, he had an excellent run at this level. I think he is a great stylistic role model for all Taekwondo practitioners like myself.
Ludwig landed a ridiculous number of knees to win the fight. Yilmaz landed some good punches but most of his flashy kicks were checked or missed completely.
I'm a TKD fighter who now trains muay thai. I'm smoking everyone in front of me. Just thought I'd squeeze that in. I think the turk would be more effective if he set up his back kick first either defensively or with another kick or feint. He was exposed in the thai clinch too. I've been wanting to see the turk against a formidable opponent to see if he can hang and he did pretty well against ludwig. But I do think if he was in there with buakaw he'd get his lunch money taken.
I am a TKD fighter in this was quite hard to watch because serkan is my fav fighter, but when it came 2 the close clinches where ludwig was just kneeing him and serkan didnt do anything. If Serkan just added few new moves he would be unstoppable.
I'm 28,190 walking,170 fighting, amateur, My Thai fights consist of smokers and sanshou tourneys. I have a black belt in TKD and fought competitively till i was 18. I wouldn't say that I'm a pure MT fighter rather a hybrid.
Im sure Ludwig was doing that because he knows if he lets Serkan have any distance, it'd allow Serkan to kick his head off his shoulders. watching them cuddle frustrated me as well.
Duane leg checked both left and right at the 1:08 mark. Not an auspicious start to the fight. He lost no form whatsoever through the checks and kept upright. Scary!!! Yilmaz is super-fast and Duane flicked them away!
DiamondCalves, If you did YOUR research you'd see it's not spelled mui tai. And do you really believe that Serkan hasn't trained Muay Thai? Anyone fighting k-1 has had years of boxing and kickboxing training and competition. He's not wearing a Pra Jiad(sacred armband) because he's new to Muay Thai. You don't stroll in to k-1 from point sparring. This is why he did well against Ludwig.
Taktiksel bir mücadele olmuş, Serkan yılmaz' ın tekniği bu adamın çok ötesinde. Ayaklarını sağlam kullandığı için yakın döğüşerek sinir bozarak üzerine gelmesini sağlamış. Serkan Yılmaz her saldırdığında uzun boyuyla Yılmaz' ı yormuş. Tamamen taktik savaşı. Direktif veren hoca ve rakibin taktiği asabını bozuyor insanın yazık olmuş gerçekten.
@H8lowlives Yeh but this isn't grappling man its stand up fighting, if it was the other way around you'd probably find that Serkan would of beaten Uno and Ludwig would of beaten Penn, but thats pointless in saying just like saying "these guys would get dominated by grapplers" I mean no offence BTW!
Well you don't have to win a fight to be a winner, just as long you feel like 1. Besides I'd rather watch a fighter giving a show then only stalling or just give an instant win.
Serkan Yilmaz know him very well in real life, people are very rude and sarcastic, and now everyone is trying to maim rather stingy Like many people, and also everyone should learn beaten up
you cant call that mt foighter cheap, they fight based on analysis from the opponents past battles........so is coach old him this was the best rought route dont be mad at him...
if you didn't know there are no elbows and now you can only clinch for one strike at a time in K-1. but that is why TKD will can't beat muay thai fighters.Even if they have taken boxing like Serkan has.
@yardkyle He fought Masato and lost. The next best guy he fought was Ludwig, who's maybe a B+. The rest were lower. He hasn't fought many top level guys. He has no defense against some really basic stuff. Ludwig just clinched him to death. He lost another fight to a guy who just shelled up the whole time and kicked him in the legs. He's lost fights in some REALLY noobish ways. He's an amazing athlete, but as a fighter he has some MAJOR holes that no amount of spinning can compensate for.
Yilmaz really lets the other fighter dictate the match this time instead of playing to his strengths. He should have done his best to keep it a ranged fight and not get into clinches so willingly. He should have beaten this guy imo.
the only reason that yilmaz's tkd works is coz yilmaz is also deadly with hes jabs and hooks, with his good combination of tkd kiks n fist he is an absolute winner!
Right we dont bother that much with K1 , we bother with MMA. And no Turk wanna be has taken on any of the current Irish fighters successfully. Pretty soon Europeans will have had enough of Turkish loudmouths, then you can run like your Albanian cousins had to run from the Serbs.
dunno why everyone thinks serman yilmaz is so good. i mean, he only won 3 out of his 7 k1 fights and while his kicks look very impressive, he is nowhere near as effective as other fighters like masato or buakaw who have got a much more direct style.
thanks for posting, this was a hard fight to judge.
can you explain? how would you get out of the hold? i mean i guess the obvious one is just push off his hands...but with the boxing gloves, or if there were no gloves, and he was clutching his hands together...what can you do to defend against that?

What year was this fight cause Ludwig been around so long I get confused
Are there any other credible tae kwon do fighters? Because, serkan Yilmaz seems to be the only one from what i've seen.
I thought you weren't allowed to get a back of the head clinch in K-1?
whatever happened to Yilmaz ? He was fun to watch for a while.
props to both fighters, great in their own style. serkan doesnt back down, goodstuff
A question, why didn't he use any of his "signature" kicks?
I love that he shut down Yilmaz with a really simple thai clinch. It really emphasizes that you need versatility to remain competitive.
you're right...i've been at it for 3 years now, but I know that my TKD background helps tremendously.
I like it when those two start hugging each other
You know what I like best about this fight? I like that Ramon Dekkers beat Ludwig with one hand.
No olursa olsun Samurai Serkan!...Serkan is the best in kick box!...
Yilmaz is a good TKD guy, but against a MT, Buakaw for example, those flashy spin kick can get him knocked the fucced out. Was he not in the K-1 tournament but didnt make it to the second round? Those flashy kicks takes too much energy, no matter your stamina.
no. don't think so. i heard yilmaz is doing his military service right now.
Why the hostility?
I agree with you 200% percente about respeting any martial art, i give that but ITF it's not a martial art.
Serkan just needs work on his patience, the Thai clinch, and more leg kick training. He is by far the best TKD representative I've ever seen in K-1.

BTW, Corea works as well, just look in the dictionnary, you'll see the reason.
Well said!
I'm 28,190 walking,170 fighting, amateur, My Thai fights consist of smokers and sanshou tourneys. I have a black belt in TKD and fought competitively till i was 18. I wouldn't say that I'm a pure MT fighter rather a hybrid.

wait a minute!!u saying buakaws gonna have a fight with serkan?
the good thing about k-1 is there are no grapplers
what kind of comment is that?
What makes you think Yilmaz doesn't know how to clinch? What makes you think Ludwig isn't just better at it?
DiamondCalves, If you did YOUR research you'd see it's not spelled mui tai. And do you really believe that Serkan hasn't trained Muay Thai? Yilmaz desperately needs to learn how to fight in the clinch, he was getting savaged out there
uufffffffff por fin perdio este weon ,pero es el mejor
he is not wrestling, he is fighting

@yardkyle I think Yilmaz's style is too flashy for his own good.
No art is superior to another
@yardkyle I don't agree. Sure he pushes people around with that back-kick of his, but his basics aren't great. He has a losing record in K1..
it depends on the fighter
amazing yilmaz...
Well apparently he is coming back. After all, that's what he does for a living. I'm not really a fan of Yilmaz but I see what you mean.
Knee work does really make a difference!
@H8lowlives Yeh but this isn't grappling man its stand up fighting, if it was the other way around you'd probably find that Serkan would of beaten Uno and Ludwig would of beaten Penn, but thats pointless in saying just like saying "these guys would get dominated by grapplers" I mean no offence BTW!
sooo......the knees were enough to win him the fight?...doesn't make sense to me..
Thats true and ludwig move each time that serkan do a spining kick to the head so serkan allways miss this kind of kicks
i tnink the guy on red has been one of his harder opponent
why dont you try a professional mma fighter?
I prefer Ludwig's style because I don't think XMA has any place in the ring.
serkan yilmaz NICE kicks
Yup. Eventually everybody has to give up TKD for Muay Thai.
So... you shouldn't be biased against a martial art. You can hate N. Korea, but never disrespect any martial art.
Well you don't have to win a fight to be a winner, just as long you feel like 1.
Besides I'd rather watch a fighter giving a show then only stalling or just give an instant win.
serkan saçlarını düzeltmekten vakit bulsaydı maçı alırmış.
Serkan Yilmaz know him very well in real life, people are very rude and sarcastic, and now everyone is trying to maim rather stingy Like many people, and also everyone should learn beaten up
Big Nog did fight CroCop and he beat him. He got his ass handed to him in the first round and then finally got a take down and arm barred CroCop.
bende bizimki yenecek diye izledim boşa. adamın yendiği videoları koysanıza
you cant call that mt foighter cheap, they fight based on analysis from the opponents past battles........so is coach old him this was the best rought route dont be mad at him...
Yilmaz should learn to deal with the clinch...
He lost because Ludwig had a superior clinch game.
wow, Yilmaz is great, but it looks lyk her could learn to work the clinch a lil better.
if you didn't know there are no elbows and now you can only clinch for one strike at a time in K-1. but that is why TKD will can't beat muay thai fighters.Even if they have taken boxing like Serkan has.
serkan gerçekten süper yhaa
yolu açık olsn
still yilmaz is more exciting..the knee dont really have distance..not much damage..just caught a few to the head..
I'd like to see my fav fighter Serkan go up against cung-le
@yardkyle He fought Masato and lost. The next best guy he fought was Ludwig, who's maybe a B+. The rest were lower. He hasn't fought many top level guys.
He has no defense against some really basic stuff. Ludwig just clinched him to death. He lost another fight to a guy who just shelled up the whole time and kicked him in the legs. He's lost fights in some REALLY noobish ways. He's an amazing athlete, but as a fighter he has some MAJOR holes that no amount of spinning can compensate for.
TF are u talking about? He clearly beat Masato. That was a pathetic decision.
Well done good fellows. The jackass hat is on my head now. My apologies.
that are the new rules the fight were years ago
can't believe Yilmaz lost : (
He can be lost a lot but never be knockout
his legs would not last against buakaw, but i think he'll score some points
Yilmaz really lets the other fighter dictate the match this time instead of playing to his strengths. He should have done his best to keep it a ranged fight and not get into clinches so willingly. He should have beaten this guy imo.
the only reason that yilmaz's tkd works is coz yilmaz is also deadly with hes jabs and hooks, with his good combination of tkd kiks n fist he is an absolute winner!

he is fighter of mixed martial arts, 10 years training kick box, wsho and tkd. but in k1 fight but style kick box that tkd.
sorry tkd no it u stile.
dunno why everyone thinks serman yilmaz is so good. i mean, he only won 3 out of his 7 k1 fights and while his kicks look very impressive, he is nowhere near as effective as other fighters like masato or buakaw who have got a much more direct style.
Very little chance of that happening.
talk about the fighter, not the fighting style.
wow someone missed some english classes lol where did u learn the "fuck fuck word"gangster movies???lol
Ludwig can take a lot of beating but I don't like that he was all about knees here. Effective, but not especially entertaining.
alrighty then...have a good one.
damn those thai knees are brutal...
LOOL! nice one
to be honest, ludwig is fighting like a bitch
Don't worry about it :p
1:48 Duane´s Face Haha
böyle dövüşmü olur amg adam sürekli enseden tutup diz vuruyor hakemler hibirşey demıyor
I think raped was the word you where looking for.
srkan yılmz ın hakkını yemişler ancak serkan yakın dövüşte biraz zayıftı tinede üstünlük serkan daydı.
@H8lowlives Thats true but they were still fighting in the other persons game! Lets agree to disagree! :)
nice knees serkan... muay thai is beast!
