China has surpassed the West in quantity of patents, quantity of scientific papers produced, and quantity of QUALITY scientific papers produces (as measured by the number of citations to the quality papers). China has an industrial strategy that has completely outplayed its Western competitors. China is already the world's strongest superpower... it is just going to take the rest of the world some tome to process and accept this new reality.
