The sliding bar indicator is great.
Came here to say this! It's very nifty!
I like the sliding bar indicator too!
I agree delores!
I love the little bar you put on top of the screen that shows what metal you're finding!
that bar is cool! Makes it extra exciting!
Yes it is amazing. WOW wow wow
Yes I really like that bar across the top too!!! Very nice touch!
Congratulations to Vern on his beginner’s luck! What a find! 👍🏼
*My man, Dread Pirate Vern!*
Betty Grimes here. I'm 81 and I have watched your show from the beginning. Enjoy your searches and discovery.
Congratulations
Coffee and GMMD on Friday morning no better way to get started. Congrats to Vern for a beautiful coin and definitely a bucket list that is definitely a great memory to cherish. Brad, some great old copper. Great day of hunting, guys. Thanks for showing and sharing.
That 8 Reales is where the term pieces of eight came from as it was commonly divided into 8 pieces, also leading to the term 2 bits for 1 quarter of the dollar. Fantastic find. Very well worth the watch.
Interesting, thanks
I always thought that pieces of eight coins were Spanish coins made of Gold. This coin was a silver dollar made here in the US. You might want to Google it for more info.
@@davidkohler7454 That is the difference between fact and fiction. In pirate novels this may have been the case, but in reality before America was allowed to mint money, they used Spanish silver dollars which were divided into quarters, halves and eighths.
@@WizzardofOdds And they certainly weren't made in the US.
This is also why a "bit" was used as the name for computer 0/1's, because that was 1/8 of a register. That is, each memory address contained 8 of them to create a number from 0 to 255. They were named after the "bits" which were 1/8 of a coin.
i can not wait for your next adventure i am 75 years old and your excitement excites me keep finding treasures
What a site! Vern, I wish you luck just like this every time you hunt. Great upload, Brad!
I'm at home recovering from an operation. It is very comforting to hear your music and be able to watch your adventures. Keep up the good work.
@clarkabrpi3428, Being conscious that I was still breathing air was very comforting when I woke up. I hope you're feeling better.
I love how well the silver coins survive in the ground. 230years old and beautiful! Finding those coins must be such a wicked feeling.
Yup. Almost too well. Without a spot of any Vermont patina. Squeaky clean in fact. Almost like it was lost ten minutes ago.
Almost
@@factorybear5264 Very suspect...
Patina on silver? You mean copper?
Not only did he find an 8 Reale, it's in beautiful shape! What a find. It was exciting to watch on video, I can imagine what it was like live there in the field. No matter what, you never know what you're going to find when you go out.
The sliding bar made the light bulb in my head go off! Finally I understand what the beeps and levels mean! Lol!
The new graphics are great!!! Love your channel and the original music!! Thanks!
Magic, as always. Love the bar too btw. :)
Nice find, i’ve only found one myself. More of an iron/artillery guy myself these days but Spanish silver is always a nice surprise, keep atter it.
Oh, and it was so beautiful!!
Congratulations, Vern!
Friday Morning coffee with Brad and friend ❤
AMAZING find! Gave me chills because that’s a true bucket lister for any of us detectorists!
Congrats to Vern What a Beautiful find!
I love Fridays for this reason 👌👍🍻
I still cannot get over the 8 reale- Holy Cow, what a find!!!
Modern coins in gravel can sometimes mean snow was once dumped there. As always, great video Brad.
Incredible find! Wow
WOW sweet find got my 8 on the beach a few years back 1794 congrats Vern
1794 is quite a few years back, as a matter of fact.
WOW!! I LOVE the sliding bar at the top of my screen!!!
Awesome find, my best was in Georgia in 2012, I found an 1854D, one dollar gold coin, less than 2 miles from where it was minted in Dahlonega Georgia in Near mint condition
Well done on your gold find 👍
Liking the new graphics
Wow!!! Congratulations on the 8 real!!! Very nice finds!!! I can't wait for you to go back!!!! God Bless Us All!!!
What an amazing find!! The soil there must be special as well, the coin is barely tarnished!!
I'm no expert on the matter, but I think silver coins are almost pure silver, so they don't or barely tarnish. I think these type of coins only wear from usage.
@@Auxius. You’re right. According to The Scottish Detectorist silver finds of any kind come out of the ground just about the same shape as they were when they first went in, due to exactly what you said. Silver and gold do not decay in the ground.
Confidence in the coinage was as important as the intrinsic value of the coin, that is why many countries would replicate the effigies of Roman coinage.
I like your new addition of the metal detector meter on the screen top . Great idea. Very cool 😎
Wow 😮
That little bar you added at the top showing the tone was a great addition. Nice idea and execution.
I’m so envious of your location. I have seen many of your videos where you found relics and coins dating back before America began.
The best I can find in Wyoming will date back to the 1850s.
Love your programs, I look forward each week to watch your adventures.
What area of Wyoming are you in? I'm in Lincoln County. Very little to find here.
‘Same with Oklahoma. 😂
Same thing here in Kansas ! I got into collecting old coins from finding a 1877 Seated Liberty Dime on my great grandfather's homestead here in Kansas ! Back when I was very young !
My precious 🎉
I, along with Ed truly enjoyed this episode.?. We’ve enjoyed your podcast’s. You’re not kidding the Holy Grail… super amazing the 18TH Century etc. keep em coming

Awesome hunt gentlemen.
You had a 'real' good time!
Wow, great work guys!!!!!
Wow 😮 what a find 🎉
Suuuuuuuuch a great find Brad! Talk about a lucky swing by vern though... he only came over to see your find. That's happened a few times with the dudes and it's always awesome and the unexpected finds are the coolest. No 8 Reale for us yet... but we'll get there! Keep up the great work.
Holy guacamole Batman!!! Wow! A eight reale!!! Glad the camera was rolling on this find for all the world to see!!! Thank You Jesus!!!! Great content as always!!!😊❤
Unreal find fellas
WOWZERS
I always wondered about the “ dead as a door nail” saying! Thanks for sharing!
👍💥💯🙏>>>💚~~~ THANK YOU THAT WAS AWESOME
Love the new slide bar and visual indicators when you are on target! Wonderful how you continue to educate us all as you uncover the history that surrounds us! Love your videos, excited with anticipation for every Friday edition.
Fun stuff fellas!
Wow!
Looking good Vern! 👌
Brad could that key hole with the 8's on it being a guest room at the tavern ?!
Incredible find Vern. I have a counterfeit 8 Reale from China ($10 on Wish), because I knew I would never find one here in Canada. They are a beautiful coin. Love the slider bar Brad.
Great finds, you can tell when coins have been in the ground for years or newly planted for discovery. Which one stands out like a sore thumb 14:25. ??
Could the key hole escutcheon be room #8 of the old tavern? The silver dollar is spectacular!! Nice finds, Brad!
Another good video. We have friends up in Vermont. I might hollar at you if we make it up there. Take care and happy hunting.
I find a bit of jewelry from the late 1800/early 1900s. It always amazes me how small people were in that time period. Excellent work; awesome hunt! Thank you for taking us along
8 Reale Amazing! It still blows my mind that the large dollar size silver coins come up as an 88 on the Deus when the half dollars and large cents are up in the high 90's HH Matt
Congratulations, Vern. This Vernon has been looking for 12 years one day 🤜💥🤛🍺🍻🎊🎊 thanks for sharing Brad GMMD🫡
Hey Brad, congratulations to Vern(and you) on scoring that 8 Reales. I totally understand the excitement you two were experiencing when that came out of the ground. By the way, I found that exact key hole escutcheon yesterday in our Cob field. Mine was a bit tacoed.
What a Great Digging Day! FUN!
Oh My Vern! Brad you are a legend and you absolutely rock! What a gift you give back! Congratulations to you both!
Good thing you didn’t scratch the Real, this is one reason you don’t dig other ppls targets. Great finds!
But also.. thats why you dont come over swinging when your friend call coin! I hate when someone swing over and hit the coinspill I was about to uncover. This find wasnt really ment for Vern.
Thank you Brad and Vern for the adventure and seeing some nice finds especially the 8 Reale ! Congratulations Vern for a very Awesome find !
Love your videos they are so awesome, great job Vern, great job Brad, lots of love from West Virginia ❤️🙂
Likening the new graphics on top showing the different metals nice touch 👍 One day I will find one of those maybe hopefully but probably not 😢 but will have fun looking for it on my Deus II !! 😊🐆🐆🐆🐆
Congrats to Vern. Absolutely a HOLY GRAIL for metal detecting. Even better it was done LIVE!!!!!
ATB
FlThunder Rob
Congratulations Vern!!!!! Could the escutcheon possibly have been on the door of room 8 in the tavern? Wild guess I know😊 ❤
When i was a kid (born UK 1977) my Nana would say to me "d'you wanna birra copper for the shop?" 😂
So awesome!!❤
Outstanding. Is that what some guys call a pillar dollar? Fantastic. Love the slide bar indicator
Your reaction is priceless. For a moment, like a cartoon, I pictured you grabbing the coin and running zig zag up into the hills, screaming “it’s mine it’s mine it’s all mine” with your eyes all googley and crossed, hair on fire. Great video!
The gravel and modern penny mixture could be where people dumped fish tanks.
Awesome Job Brad & Vern!
Great find... like the sliding bar and effects you did in the video...
Congrats, Vern, on your 8 reales! Great day hunting for old treasures! Coppers and a big key escutcheon! I couldn't complain! Keep on digging, Brad. Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
Absolutely amazing finds!!
Another great video and the eight reales find was a fantastic moment. The second George 3rd halfpenny, slightly undersized and with the ponytail possibly William 3rd? Andy
Vern, congrats! Thanks for letting Brad take us along, what an amazing find. Wow!
The key escutcheon was quite the foreshadowing find!
So cool. Wish I was with you in Vermont
In beautiful condition! Nice job,Vern!
What a beautiful 8! Congratulations Vern! 🎉 ❤LL
Thank you 🙏🏻
I really like how you are now including the metal slide bar at the top of the screen. Also, a huge Congratulations to Vern on that beautiful 8 real.
Outstanding find!
