  • In this video I build a new TRX4M using the Gila Monster kit from DBRC Chassis Dynamics! The Gila Monster kit includes aluminum rails and printed chassis components. It's strong, functional, and versatile. This build quickly became one of my favorites. It looks fantastic and has performance to back it up! Build details are below. Enjoy!

    Adam, great review of the Gila. On my third one in several different configurations. DBRC knocked it out of the park with this one. Easily, my best performing 4M. I personally like the defender/bronco front with high trail rear. I would take a look at Injoras adjustable c-hubs. It allows you to tuck up that pinion while still maintaining caster. Also, there new front brass knuckles and front counter weights might help out with the weight bias. If you really want to add some bling to the chassis, send those aluminum rails over to Kyle at KTech for some one-off anodizing. Not sure if you’re already running them, but some SlymeBallz from FlubRC really transform those cling-ons. Keep rocking the great content!

    Might be a cool video opportunity to do a comparison build. Before you stretch the rear, progressively add weight to the front on the axles and/or wheels so it's as low as possible. See how that effects the front staying down on uphills. Then try the longer back end with the front back to how it is here in this vid, to compare what it takes to get it equal on uphill angle. Short wheel base can have it's advantages, so it'd be cool to see if you can have your cake, and eat it too, sorta speak. :)
    Thanks Adam!

    Adam, thank you for your commitment to the small scale industry! Obviously, we have a great choice of components. Could you please make a video dedicated to the REAL maximum performance adjustment. In simple words, how to make the most capable(from your point of view) rig, with all the angles,travels, /articulations? Thanks

    Definitely run high trail rear links. It makes a huge performance difference. I run my Buggin out kit with a Torquebeast X paired to a Meus 2speed transmission and is such a fun rig that you can trial and crawl!

    • @wingnutbert9685

      If Matt doesn't mind, I'd definitely check out 'Reactive Terrain' earlier vids. The boys build with a cement soaked cloth method, drooped over forms. Super easy and WAY more durable and looks more realistic than the foam/plaster cloth and paint.

    With these bigger tires, don't they have a tendency to hit the shocks though?? I want to get me a set of these cling on tires & am curious about that.

    • @CapeCrawlers

      It’s perfectly wide enough to clear the shocks at full steer. Probably 1mm of clearance

    When I saw your thumbnail pic I thought what a ugly stubby turd! However it's growing on me slowly. Maybe within the next 13 minutes I will change my mind completely before I finish this video. Love your content as always! Thank you Adam

    • @KBRC81
      @KBRC81 2 месяца назад +1

      The stubby turd you speak of is the cage, which is meant to run a specific body on it (lexan bug). The chassis itself is available alone with all the other printed pieces minus the cage.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  2 месяца назад

      LOL! It’s meant to have a beetle body on it, hence the stubby look.

      Update: I finished the last 13 minutes of the video, and I am sold. Turns out I like stubby turds! Great quality looking kit! They offer so many colors. idk what to go with. @@KBRC81I think it is amazing. The cage looks great, the color is incredible. I am going to search around and see what the other colors look like and get one ordered!... The stubby turd cage is too trick looking, idk if I'd want to keep it covered!
