  • I have never painted on glass but today I do and WOW - I just love the textures that can be created AND the use of light that reflects through the glass to make the paint shimmer. I'm using a sponge and a balloon and they are so much FUN.

    ******************************************************************************************
    Today's Tutorial Information:
▶ Technique: Abstract Art - Painting with a Sponge and Balloon
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with a pouring medium and water. I use good quality paints that have a good binder. My pouring medium is Owatrol Floetrol. I use a ration of 1:3:1 - paint: pouring medium: water. You may have to adjust your ratios depending on the paint brands you use.
    ▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam: Titanium white, Lamp Black, Brilliant Blue, Sky Blue Light, Turquoise Blue,
    Winsor & Newton: Cobalt Blue
    Pebeo: Iridescent Gold
▶ Hair dryer: When I use a hair dryer I use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting and the lowest blow speed.

Very cool. I love the mottled effect from the sponge. I bet it would be cool to do a chain pull through the balloon kisses on this.

Hello Mark!! 🥰 Très original comme technique. J'aime ❤
    Bon week-end à toi et que l'Amour soit au rendez-vous!! 💚💙💜🤍❤👋

This was very interesting to watch. I love the shimmering of the gold and the fact that the balloon dips have a nice 3D look. With the sponge technique, using white paint, you made the glass look like it's frozen. I like that you can see what it looks like from the other side of the glass. Nice piece, Mark 🖒💖

Hi Mark. Beautiful results. I have many framed prints with glass. I've been thinking about, taking the entire framed picture apart and pouring on the glass. Blooms, Dutch Pour, straight pours etc. Painting the frame and reassembling. I'd be grateful for your opinion on whether that would work, look good etc. I really appreciate your art channel and all the information you provide.

I have more than 40 years of painting on the glass with oil colors. Concerning my tests with acrylics after some period of time (3 - 4 months) the colors crack and peel off the glass.
