I loved Dokken. Can't understand why Don basically took these guys for granted. They were magical and talented beyond words. They could have gone so much farther and been 1000 times more sucessful than they were. What was Don thinking?😮 But I'm glad that Jeff and George continue to make great music.❤
Good for Jeff. This dude is a solid individual. Hes gone through all the changes in the industry and managed to still hold on to his dignity and have a career where so many his age have fallen by the wayside.
Jeff Pilson seems like a super great guy, possibly the most easy-going in Dokken. Very calm and balanced energy with clear account of things, he’s obviously credible
Lynch-Pilson Albums are really good!! I enjoy everything they’ve released!!! I’ve also been completely aware of his contribution to the music he’s involved with!! That said, the new Don Dokken attitude & narrative is straight up BS-I can’t stand when people decide to stay stuck in the past regardless of their intentions!!! PS: Thanx for the heads up on DIOs 1993 lineup & Vid!!!
Don’s lyrics were never strong, so maybe give him most of the credit. But on the other side, Dokken was the band. I am a fan from Breaking the Chains to today’s separate bands. I loved the Pilson-Lynch collaboration and would love to hear another Dokken album. I love you guys. Keep rocking!
❤❤❤ LOVE GEORGE AND JEFF. BOTH ARE CLASS ACTS. I HAVE ALL THEIR WORK. I ADMIRED GEORGE WHEN HE CHOSE NORM KINNEY ON HIS FIRST LYNCH MOB RELEASE. NORM WAS CHOSEN BY ANOTHER ARTIST I HAVE FOLLOWED SINCE 1974- GINO VANNELLI
Very serious question for you Jeff have you and George ever considered doing some cover tunes of foreigners I think George could rip that stuff out just a thought 😎🤘
It was interesting to hear Jeff talk about the negative things Don has said about the rest of the band from back in their heyday. I managed a record store in Reno NV when Aerosmith came to town for the Permanent Vacation tour and I received my usual backstage passes as well. Although this time there were a bunch of us fans and groupies all waiting to meet Steven Tyler and co. when a gentleman came backstage to announce that Dokken was not going to be able to come onstage and Aerosmith were going to start their show early so unfortunately we would not get to meet the band. That sucked! Then in the coming days I heard numerous stories that Don Dokken had gotten a hotel room the night before the show at the MGM Grand Hotel and got too drunk and "coked out" from partying that night to be able to perform the show that night. And this came from friends in local bands in Reno who had connections and were likely to be able to even attend parties like that. So I was disappointed to say the least and surprised to hear the things Don was saying about the rest of the band when my experience was Don being supposedly the one who was too fucked up on drugs and alcohol. (I do have to say that I also saw Dokken on the Last In Line tour with Dio and both bands were awesome! I've still seen Dokken in concert probably at least about 6-7 times even with the one show they cancelled and they've always been awesome live. I've always been a big fan of the band and especially George's guitar playing as I play guitar as well and was a metal head back in the day and I'm still a rocker!) So thank you for this interview and it was refreshing to hear Jeff's perspective on the situation and his certainly seems to fit and seems legit. Cheers!
Jeff is 100% correct. Nobody is talking about Dokken's new music, including Don. He's a bitter old man, mainly because Jeff & George still have the ability he doesn't, particularly Jeff with his voice. There are countless Dokken demos right here on RUclips that prove Don is exaggerating & lying.
Saw foreigner twice in the last 3 years and they sounded amazing and put on a great show Saw Lou graham this summer with Bret Micheal’s and although nostalgic his voice obviously has lost a few gears
Lol I've always taken what do says to ith a grave n of salt Jeff carries himself well and continued a career. How many really did that out of the 80's successfully . And not with the original band.? George Mick and Jeff have.
I’m a huge Dokken fan and have so many good memories of the band. I’m a huge Don fan but it has been a little uncomfortable listening to his promos for the new record. He made some pretty aggressive comments directed towards his former band mates. Jeff, conversely, comes across as very diplomatic to his credit.
Ill just say that the Foreigner line up without an original an member is doing a great job overall but the last show I saw them, which was just a few months back in 2023, the show was a little cheesy. First they had a keytarist playing the sax parts, which I hated in it of itself, but on top of that he was running around the stage looking like a mad scientist. Then they were pushing Jeff around on the stage in a wheelchair shooting fog out of like a rocket ship…overall I felt like I was at a musical than a rock concert.
I honestly thought the first LYNCH MOB album was the best of ALL the stuff any of these cats did….. well UNDER LOCK & KEY was right there but I’ve always heard them dissing the live shows back in the day BUT I SAW THEM OPEN IN THE BIG SHEDS 5-6 times and saw their comeback album at HAMMER JAX AND NEVER saw a bad gig. Thought they were better live than studio.
Don's stories have never changed I always believed him those always trying to screw him even called jack Russell while he's staying with Don to replace him like its Don band
But Don's record is a Good record. And Don has had a lot of health problems to consider. I'm sure you are all good too and wish you well. A lot of people still love Don.
So basically The End Machine is the exact same thing Journey did with Arnel. Foreigner now is a bit pathetic, and Jeff may not see the negative comments, but you can not find a post about Foreigner anymore without a majority of the comments being about them being a tribute band.
Robert Mason is a great singer and I loved the first to TEM records.. I will give this a chance, but I feel like Robert is getting shit on in this interview.. now Robert is very busy with Warrant, perhaps the timing didn’t work? Wanted too much money? Who knows.
Pilson looks like he can't keep a straight face the whole time here. Especially when discussing Don's beliefs and things he has said about other band members. It just looks like it's all one big joke to Jeff. I guess that's a decent attitude but I feel he is just internalizing it all. He clearly does NOT approve of or like anything disparaging his past and his amazing band Dokken. He just gives me this feeling that he utterly dislikes don now and so he and georgee are in agreement on many things it would seem. I still don't know how they reconciled their musical direction differences in the 80's with dokken. Because it was always don and jeff who were leaning towards melodic, ballad, mellower type stuff and george always wanting to shred and get heavier. So I don't see how the two guitarists were able to gel so well with that...>
@@RockMusicTracks Watched Dokken Live at Philadelphia, november 10, 1987 and the drums were constantly off time, basic hair metal beats. Maybe they want it simple as the guitar is intricate. So can't get it. It's like thrash and grunge has basic guitars with great drums (don't care for either genre) while hair metal had great guitars and the most dull drumming.
probably depends on the era. Brown had been in bands since the 70's, and don't forget the drugs were flowing a lot in the later days. Main issue is probably some of the production of the drums on the classic Dokken albums. No doubt whoever engineered Bobby Blotzer knew what they were doing but sometimes Mick's drums sounded mechanical and stiff with how they were producing the albums. If every album had the Back For The Attack sound, I'm sure Mick would have been higher rated.
Frontiers album advances are usually around 20k. Enough to make it worth your while if you have your own studio like Jeff does. Plus, Jeff just loves to create.
Then listen to the new post alt metal coming out on the Modern Rock stations or some other genre, like rap or country. Fans of 80’s metal love the style and support the artists still hanging in there to keep it alive. If you’re looking for complexity - only listen to bands such as Animals as Leaders. I’m greatful to have Jeff P still putting out music!!!!!! Dean
I loved Dokken. Can't understand why Don basically took these guys for granted. They were magical and talented beyond words. Totally agree.
When Jeff calls BS, you know it is BS. So thankful that Jeff and George still create music together.
Yeah the two of them are killer together. :)
Pilson/Lynch during the 80s were unstoppable
Still they needed Don Dokken in the early days.
Don’s great too, don’t get me wrong. Love Don
George and Jeff are still burning....loved Dokken... Great band great legacy...
Good for Jeff. This dude is a solid individual. Hes gone through all the changes in the industry and managed to still hold on to his dignity and have a career where so many his age have fallen by the wayside.
Totally. And thanks for commenting!
Jeff is an underrated bassist and vocalist and George is among the GOAT!
Killer musician Jeff, such a talented and genuine guy. Great player, writer, producer and singer. Great interview guys.
Thanks Darryl!
Hey Jeff, Dio's Strange Highways was freaking awesome!!
It’s killer right?!
Jeff Pilson seems like a super great guy, possibly the most easy-going in Dokken. Very calm and balanced energy with clear account of things, he’s obviously credible
Foreigner shows have been amazing!!!! The current line up is amazing. So grateful they are keeping the music “Live” Kelly Hansen has been amazing!!!
Jeff and Mick were the funniest of Dokken.. Jeff Pilson of Pilson Rocks🤘🤘
Thanks for the comment!
Jeff is a great guy and a talented musician and I enjoyed meeting and talking with him.
Jeff is a great musician and an even better human. 👌
Jeff is straight up! No BS
We love jeff great talent and a truly great guy
He's awesome!
Legend...
Still think of Jeff singing Just Got Lucky acoustic live. Wow, so good!!
Maybe get Wild Mick on. See how he is doing being retired. and tell us fans Stories about the years of Dokken.
Pilson is a talented guy and I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about him for 40 years.
I’ve been a fan of Jeff’s for a very long time. Great video.
Thanks! Appreciate the comment!
Still waiting for the Guitar Buddy II. The original has a special place in my heart.
Soon to be in stores near you
I love the End Machine , its really good stuff
I was at one of those Foreigner shows and even if it had no original members it was a great show.👍
Thanks for commenting!
Definitely a tribute band. 😮
Ditto!!
when you go and see foreigner and all the members are foreign

❤❤❤ LOVED THIS. GREAT INSIGHT INTERVIEW
Massive thanks!!
Holy shit, Jeff wasn’t kidding on the ‘93 line up with Dio at the Hammersmith.
Pretty killer right?
I haven't heard this new guy but I think Jeff could sing the songs he writes with George. I really like Jeff's singing.
Thanks for commenting!

Yes all Magic.point blank
why do podcasts put so much compression on a mic?
😂
Interesting. Yeah RJD is something else. My next EP is along that line, Last in line pun intended
Very serious question for you Jeff have you and George ever considered doing some cover tunes of foreigners I think George could rip that stuff out just a thought 😎🤘
Aaaahhh band life, same on every level. If you've been there you know....

Black Swan questions?????
Only so much time unfortunately. But thanks for commenting!
Saw foreigner twice in the last 3 years and they sounded amazing and put on a great show
Saw Lou graham this summer with Bret Micheal’s and although nostalgic his voice obviously has lost a few gears
Can we get another Black Swan record.....please?🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥💖💖💖💖
Angry Machine is still ahead of it's time. Tracy was and is an original.
Interview Don Dokken Next
I’ll certainly try 😊
It would be awkward album without without Don's voice being same 😢
the latest dokken album doesn’t sound that bad
Couldn't agree more, Don's goin out like DLR, bad vocals and a bad attitude. Really is sad. You guys Rock
Completely agree
Lol I've always taken what do says to ith a grave n of salt Jeff carries himself well and continued a career.

Robert was talking smack about George, Heard it. See Ya! George is one of the Baddest guitar players, Period!!
He totally is! George is incredible!

Gotta Say, I saw Foreigner with Whitesnake and Europe and they were musically outstanding. Whitesnake awful (and I usually love em) and Europe ok.
Oh totally. They’re killer live!
Tough to do when the Label suggests you try out the other singer. Politics...
It's no surprise there that Don isn't good with relationships. Just take a look at his song lyrics. How many breakups has he been through? 😆
Don's stories have never changed I always believed him those always trying to screw him even called jack Russell while he's staying with Don to replace him like its Don band
But Don's record is a Good record. And Don has had a lot of health problems to consider.

It's kinda true man. I personally don't dig when bands do that but I guess they gotta make money somehow. Thanks for commenting!
DI-O,DI-O,DI-O,DI-O,DI-O,DI-O.............
NO!! Robert Mason should have been on the album. Loyalty needs to stand for something. Not many are just running to buy this genre.
Robert Mason is a great singer and I loved the first to TEM records.. I will give this a chance, but I feel like Robert is getting shit on in this interview.. now Robert is very busy with Warrant, perhaps the timing didn’t work? Wanted too much money? Who knows.

Even if the band did have one more record in them, Don couldn't sing it.
That seems to be the general consensus from people. Thanks for commenting!

Amazing drummer? Must be missing something. In concert footage doesn’t seem that way
Definitely missing something and need to get your hearing tested. No drummer plays with high profile bands if they suck.

Girish sounds a lot better with his other band
Tweaking !
Ronnie might have been a great vocalist, but he wasn't great at paying people.
awww naw boys. weak video concept, non creative. forgettable song. always good to see George and Jeff though
How much money can they make off these constantly rehashed chord changes and melodies for the last forty years 🤦🏻

Don should have retired after Erase the Slate which was an amazing record and he would have went out on top.
Sorry pulsing admits he did a lot of coke back then along with Nick and George so grain of salt
