    First of all... your regulator ( 1st stage - on the tank ) and 2nd stage ( the octopus- spare mouthpiece ) should be inspected/ rebuilt EVERY year. Also get some face mask anti fog gel from any scuba shop and coat the inside of the helmet dome. That should fix the fogging issue..

  • @the_omg3242
    @the_omg3242 Год назад +25

    This is probably a better purchase than your sport sub. In terms of ease of use at least.
    I've seen these in videos before. If you notice on the back of the helmet there's a bunch of little holes near the bottom. You're intended to have a constant flow of air into the helmet and out those holes which are there to maintain the level of the air bubble inside the helmet.
    The free flowing regulator I'd throw away and replace with a decent quality scuba reg and maybe flush all the lines out with alcohol. Who knows how much mold is on the inside of those lines you're breathing.
    As for the battery, at the very least you're losing power since water is conductive. You could get some spray on rubber coat for the terminals, but you should also look into if the battery is vented. If it does have a vent, seawater is going to force past it once you get some depth. Even a big ziplock bag (sealed around the wires) would probably be better than just exposing it to the water and hoping for the best. (life seldom gives anyone the best)

    • @conorstewart2214
      @conorstewart2214 Год назад +1

      Probably losing a lot less power than it is using though. The water is conductive but the terminals are pretty far apart and it is a large battery. He should add waterproof connectors to the battery and replace the current connectors then coat all the exposed metal in something. At the very least it would stop corrosion.
      Edit: A way some people discharge old lithium batteries for drones and things is to put them in a bucket of salty water, probably saltier than sea water. The water soaks into all the gaps in the batteries and slowly discharges them over time, like a couple of days, and there we are talking about highly conductive water and very little distance between battery terminals, this battery should be absolutely fine, it wont lose any noticable amount of power. I would still be worried about corrosion though.

    Just a thought and just trying to be safe.

    Electrical engineer here, a 12v battery cannot arc through water at a distance of 10 inches (The approximate distance between battery terminals). As long as the battery itself is water tight (which most modern lead acid or lithium batteries are) you're safe.

    With the batteries as long as they are sealed it should be fine underwater. The only thing that may happen is corrosion on the terminals, but I would hope since it is made for going underwater that it is designed to not corrode.
    Edit: Since it is lithium, dont charge it until you need it, dont discharge it too far, dont leave it discharged and if not using it for a while store it at roughly half charge, that will all greatly increase the lifespan.
    Edit 2: Maybe you could add waterproof connector and wires to the battery and replace the current connectors, then coat the battery terminals in something to stop the water getting to them. It would stop corrosion.

    Another toy to look for is the SEAL TEAM wet car that I think 3 or 4 people can sit in with scuba gear and 4 drive motors and controls like an aircraft peddles for left and right turns left side of front seat for up or down and right side for power can include huge front head light on or off (very cool night DRIVE) with switches for all 4 propulsion engines for very slowly maneuvers or having fun just full blast install 2 scuba tanks and regulators to each seat for back up air. (Now aluminum tanks start out like 3 pounds full underwater and 5 pounds empty underwater) Get some low pressure steels and your looking at a lot of air but needs a lot of room. A high pressure steel tank of 80 psi is almost half the size of an 80 psi aluminum so maybe your best option to use.

    Another thing, if u deploy it u can ask a service station to repack the liferaft, and be careful to not lose the containers, they sink.

    You should build an A frame trailer for the sub trailer. where it's a cantalever arm that swings back and forwards, so you could lift the sub off the trailer and place it about 4 feet behind the trailer. there's a creator that uses one to haul solid pieces of wood the size of your sub and it moves them around pretty easily. it's the same kind of system they use on hopper trucks for scrap metal if you want reference pictures. It should be a pretty cheap and easy mod for a standard trailer at any welding shop, and it would let you launch it from a standard boat ramp. if you need more distance, make it telescoping since you're not dealing with a lot of weight. it could reach out like 10 feet behind the trailer if you set it up right

    I thought I heard you say you bought another Sub in the Hurricane Video. That's so cool. I watched a short video on it and they call it Bob for Breathing Observation Bubble. I thought it was funny. I love the video. Maybe a new octopus would be better but that one works. Can't wait to see it in action. I was so scared a snake was going to be in your garage. Trying to get out of the water. I'm glad there wasn't. Anyway, take care. Can't wait for the next video.

    The Sub-Scooter. My wife designs and makes stickers too so she could draw a few designs up if you’d like. Thanks for the great content.
