Atreus' will is really strong. Viego brought back and mind-controlled the dead Aspect, the only one capable of besting Atreus' will. Afterwards chad got depressed that the Aspect he hated not only seized control of his body once, he failed to overcome its control the second time.
Actually it was the aspect that got ruined not Aetrus

Voli's tower immunity is a part of his ult that is on a sizable CD. Pantheon's was on his E which is on a considerably shorter CD and could be empowered to block up to three shots in 2.5 seconds. I feel like the two aren't comparable in this scenario.

When new Pantheon (a.k.a. MANtheon) speaks, he has this distinct Greek accent , that makes me feel right at home

Yup, this is why voice actor representation matters.
One thing i love about new pantheon is his accent. He is supposed to be a greek warrior and as a greek person i can say that his accent is exactly the way greeks speak english. I dont think they could have made it any better
he's not really supposed to be a greeek warrior tho. He's inspired by it obv but in the league universe greece doesn't exist and he's not a greek warrior he's a pantheon of mount targon.

I wasn't expecting the Pantheon voice line section. When he got released onto their card game, his theme fit so well with the card showcase trailer they do. 10/10, Would play the celestial spartan again

I freaking love Pantheon. Althoug I think it would be cool if his kit was a bit more about sustained fights than bursting the enemy down, that would be way much more fitting. But at least s11 gave him some really good build variations and you can now even build him a bit more like a fighter.

@@nightharvester6567 His lore is about him getting beaten but always getting back up again and pressing forward. Fighting until his last breath leaves him. That's what makes Atreus admirable. That's why he should be able to at least be more sustain and less about burst.

build blade of the ruined king, then eclipse, the essence and then death dance using PTA. You can just keep killing then, his empowered w is MUCH stronger than people give it credit.a single skill that can instantly prock PTA, Botr, eclipse, bonus damange pro essence AND still crit. People just melt.
Besides his gameplay, they nailed his thematic elements. What used to be a generic spartan dude is now the manliest champion on the rift, and I find it very hard to stop myself from screaming out the melody of his theme song as I'm casting Grand Starfall into 5 people and inting in norms.

Mantheon has probably the coolest lore story: man who claimed targon was possessed by a god and had zero control of his body/mind for years. Aatrox killed the aspect controlling him and when he regained consciousness he decided it was time to take revenge on the other gods for using mortals like toys

From Pantheon being cheap copy of Spartan, to Spartan being cheap copy of Pantheon.
I wish every rework was like this one. would have loved to see riot update aatrox like they did pantheon
Nunu, Fiddle, Mordekaiser, Akali, Volibear etc. All of this reworks are on par or even better than Pantheon's. Riot very rarely miss the mark with these.

I kinda wish riot made pantheon a champ who was all about fighting to the death instead of doing short bursty combos like an assassin, or simply being relegated to support. Also it would be cool if he had a sort of mechanic that told his story in game, maybe at a certain point he loses his divine weapons in favor of a more mortal aesthetic, but is still a strong champion since his whole thing is never giving up and always coming out on top of the many God-like beings in league.
That's a cool though, I disagree with the scaling like Kayle thing though. Pantheon is a man, nothing more and nothing less. Making him change as he levels would take away from that idea imo.

But the fight to the death mechanic is perfect for him. Like a Jarvan Ult.
He should be more tanky with less hp he has.
The thing is riot planned to have him fight in a way but in many cases items and all that affect how a character end being played, just like league of iceborn gauntlet fizz and ekko until they were force to nerf ekko so he healed base on AP rather than just heals (he was an insane tank that you couldn't kill)
His support playstyle is the support curse, any champion that have some form of ulity of good base damage but isn't doing so well in other lane ends support (like annie, Morgana lux zyra..)
Something like Legion commander's ult from DOTA would be nice
His helmet was stifling, it narrowed his vision, and he must see far.
His shield was heavy, it threw him off balance, and his target was far away.

Honestly, the way Pantheon got reworked or Warwick. ... I wish they would have done it to Aatrox and Mordekaiser
@Noah P I like the whole death dimension thing, I wish it could kinda be both, where defeating them there lets you enslave them for a bit. There has to be a way for allies to help their teammate though. Like maybe they can't contribute damage on more, but they should still be able to give shields and heals or interact with them in some way that doesn't negate the point of mordes ult, but doesn't feel unfair to be targeted by.
Aatrox I'm fine with honestly. I played old Aatrox and the only thing I ever liked about him was the blood pool thing, but damaging himself to do more damage was stupid, the healing was the only good version and it was busted at times or straight up underwhelming, and the revive was often just a second death - could have been fine if he did a burst of damage around him upon reviving, or gained a shield based on how many people were around him when he went down. My only complaint about new Aatrox his how similar his Q and E feel to riven. I kinda wish his E at least could refresh his passive or be longer towards enemies and shorter as an escape. just do something other than be a crappy almost non existant dash.

Pantheon is literally my morning workout motivation. He unironically is the only thing tethering me to League. He's the man I, and I'm sure many others, strive to be.

I have played pantheon for a while now since like 2015 and I have one comment about it. They completely removed him from the jungle. They nerves his q and e damage to jungle monsters for no reason besides his gank potential with w. It really just makes panth a unfun champion in jungle and that was my favorite role with him.
True I wish panth jg was a thing too. They nerfed it because he was flexing 4 roles and now he isnt picked much in any role and just played support again..

Pantheon's VA still manages to give me goosebumps every time he speaks, props to him he put his heart and soul into that performance.
I like what they did with him, but they failed hard at making him viable in the top lane. He's supposedly awesome in the mid lane, but I really don't like playing him there.
I mean, pta galeforce pantheon is disturbing. Galeforce at someone into W for pta, then they die in a single Q.

He is a fucking nightamare in midlane
He works toplane, you just have to know exactly what you're doing. If you don't immediately control the wave level 1 you lose, he's extremely punishing to play. Right now he's pretty bad top though because lethal tempo is so broken and he doesn't use it all that well for his trading pattern
He's a good early lane bully at toplane but falls mid and late game
But the only thing lacking for him is lane sustain which most toplaners have so he shifted to mid as mid is more (burst down gameplay) than (sustain gameplay)
I never liked old Panth. When I was counter-picked, he felt unfair. When I tried him, he felt useless because I wasn't using him to cheese. The reworked version is so damn good. He is the reason I even started playing mid every now and then.
The thing that bothered me the most was his old Q. I feel like everyone would've been satisfied had they just turned it into a skillshot from the get go
The tower theme from radiant dawn is a really appropriate choice of music for this retrospective

His toplane have 4-5% higher winrate , than support. People are just stuborn to play him support and keep failing. I guess they follow his quote ,,how many times I die, before I learn to play"
Pantheon is one of the best motivational speakers. I love playing him for his quotes.

The current Pantheon is one of the bigger Chad of LoL, an inspiration for his mates and a respectable opponent for his ennemies. Everything on his gameplay, lore and design is amazing, powerfull. A pleasure to main him.
13:25 Lel, GP retained 3 out of 4 abilities with almost zero changes, passive was changed a bit, but retained very similar and his old E is partly on his ult upgrade
He lost nothing in terms of mechanics, they just added barrels and ult upgrades, so doesn't look like "He is built from scratch" for me
I love to abuse his new W's 3 hits. It applies on-hit at 100% effectiveness. On hit panth at full build can basically melt anything.

New Panth: Manly man that takes pride in his humanity and seeks to raise up mortals and strike down the arrogance and lies of the gods
when im discussing balance with my friends i talk about the 5 types of league of legends fighting: tankiness, burstiness, sustain, crowd control and mobility. i thought this was a genius system until i realized i had just perfectly described warwick
I’m really hoping they’ll do more with Pantheon this season. Seeing him in “The Call” got me really excited!! "I fight until the blood takes the spear from my grasp, until I can only crawl. And even then, you will not defeat me, even then, I will spit in your face!"
I feel like Panth should still be able to block towers, at least with the empowered E. Persistence and resilience are the core of his character, and that would be well displayed through the ability to do what no others could. Additionally if it were locked behind mortal will, it would mean that any time he intends to use it he would either have to strongly telegraph his next move, and sacrifice the extra damage from either of his other two abilities.
Jungle pantheon and his *not at all OP* ability to solo dragón at lvl 2 got me to Diamond for the first time, in season 6. Good times.

Theoretically his rework was awesome. Though one goal was to pu him into the top lane again with the occasional mid pick. Then he was played support, got nerfed repeatedly and now only has bonus ad scalings with too low base numbers. He's back to being purely an assassin like pre rework
It's a fun play style but I don't like that's its almost the only one
Best rework by far, I have been listening to a mix with music and pantheon quotes while I work out lately, I would follow his voice actor to the hot-gates!

Fizz's E negates up to like 2 tower shots at absolute max and you have to time it perfectly so you activate E as soon as the first one is about to hit. Also it's on a super long cooldown during the laning phase

You completely ignored how his base stats got gutted and his kit suffered. It forced him to support from a solid laner. This is a bad video coming from a panth main.

I liked his pre season 10 mini rework cause his empowered abilities actually made something more than damage. Now it's just Q more damage, w more damage and e a bit of ms speed that is almost never used unless for trading. I didn't like that he blocked turret shots but he was better overall

I love how pantheon is just the embodiment of unyielding resolve.
His sheer willpower is inspiring.
I am honestly very happy with his rework. For me, Swain and Pantheon are two of the best (and also balanced [I know what I said]) champs in the game. I am never displeased seeing an enemy Pantheon cause I know I can still win if I play properly (in the toplane)
You could actually get 3 procs of the old shield passive with pantheon! If you had 3 stacks on it and used W without your passive getting used up, recalled or used R, you would keep your stacks and also get your passive.
This way you could block a hit,
W to fully stack and block a hit
And Use an ability/auto to get all stacks and block a last hit
Imagine the salt in chat after you towerdive and manage to block 3 towershots
No no you don't base or R you instead wait till the W cd is over before fighting a enemy champion that way they hit you you instant prock passive and then they hit you again and then you W mostly done on jungle panth back in the days

Pretty awesome retrospective, I agree with almost everything you said but I honestly hate that riot removed him from support, they keep saying that they want people to experiment and choose different mythics for different kinds of gameplay, but if Morgana jungle, Pantheon support or Pyke mid appears, they erease them from the game
Pyke mid still exists, it just requires game knowledge, sat around 88 percent last season
Panth support is still a thing you just don't see it much
after they nerfed pantheon's Q damage in the jungle, they ruined my main, pantheon jungle :(

there was a bit backlash of Panth mains when the rework was released.
a lot of them quit the game.
if i remember correctly, he was nearly unplayable top lane after the rework and was only playable as a support.
even after they buffed his solo laning, he became more of a mid laner than a top laner.
(acording to my memory of the first couple of months after he got reworked)
I really really miss "they are privileged to die at my feet" though. ... like I would legit buy it back as a voice pack for RP
So Pantheon's old problem, being that most of his kit only hits 1 person, is LITERALLY KLED'S PROBLEM NOW (if I heard it right)

what're your thoughts on how unpopular pantheon is at the moment? he's not really seen in any role at the moment, he's not listed top, jungle or mid anymore only support and even then the pickrate is only 1.54% as of 10/1/2022. his rework design wise is very good but there's a little lack of decision making as not using empowered w is almost always a massive mistake with his bread and butter combo being empowered w > q > auto > empowered e > q / chase or disengage with movement speed.
Probably because he was nerfed to the ground,for a long time he was only played in the support role and they repeatedly nerfed him while the compensation was never enough for lanes. Also his clear is bad for some reason and he doesn't stand a chance against the new bruisers. The last problem is that he doesn't scale well at all. Riot just forgot about him and he probably is two simple for any lane except support.
I still think that the old splash art was top tier, the best splash art evermade.
I liked his old ult more and his raw e passive damage, he was the early game champion
I would say warwick rework was a good one to, they changed a one dimensional champ into a some what skill expressive low elo jg entry champion. current warwick is probably the best and easiest champion to learn jungling on. you literally get a path to follow for a gank when some enemy is low and get a boost of speed and attack speed to attack them.

They took an element "Pantheon" was great at and gave it to Volibear, this is hypocrisy to me.
(Completely) removing something that is unique to 'Pantheon' such as "Tower Mitigation" is removing part of his identity, it's like if Nasus gets a rework and (Wither) is removed because it feels unfair for champions that rely on Mobility & Attack Speed but then is given to another champion and I'm glad you didn't talk about his garbage Ultimate "Grand Skyfall" because all it serves is visual coolness/flare, his Original "Skyfall" was better in every way, and the new Pantheon is (great) at nothing.

Something I've always said. When riot fundamentally fails in a characters intended design that champion becomes a support pick. There are so many support role characters that were never originally intended to be supports and new Pantheon was one of them for a long time. Now unfortunately Pantheon isn't really an anything. They killed him in the jungle with the nerf and he's not really a good solo laber any more either.
The first time I saw Pantheon was well before I started playing League. And even then, I was like: "OH MY GOD!!!! HE'S SO GODDAMN COOL!!!"
The only bad thing about new pantheon for me was the change in the baker skin because in portuguese it's name was pãotheon (bread + pantheon)
The best Pantheon quote is the spanish version of one of Aurelion Sols quotes: "Anótalo en mi cuenta, a nombre de Pantheon con "P" de panadero" Which in english is "Just put it on my tab the names Pantheon, with a P-" except the spanish version adds the joke of the word Panadero also starting with P, which means Baker XD
i was a depressed, downtrodden, gender-confused boy and then everything changed when the -fire nation attacked- *Pantheon rework* and I mained him. I quickly ascended the ladder to rank 1 and quit playing video games. I now own a multi-million dollar company, have a herculean body and am married to the woman I used to dream of.
funny thing is Panth is actually at his strongest at early and late game, as his lane pressure in mid game falls off hard. Thats why he has to roam in the mid game. his Late game is one of the strongest in the game as 30% armor pen, combined with black cleaver, bork and eclipse gives him one of the most potent tank shreding kits in the game.
Edit: He also can still assassinate ADC's with these items while maintaining his resiliance using his E
I kinda miss how dumb simple he was. Old Pantheon was one of the first champs I ever touched in League, because I liked his ultra basic nature and how he looked. New Panth is still really fun, but I feel like it's impossible to still keep playing him in top, where I play most of the time. I do break him out when I support every now and then but... something about that basic point and click Q brings nostalgia
As a former Pantheon main I will always remember how his Q tap also had a slow. It was amazing in 1v1's giving me 2 spell rotations before they could run away, but they removed it and I was never the same after that.

Comet Spear is the most badass skills to hit. You duel it out with your enemy. Both of you walk out low and you just turn around and hit a spear and walk away like a fking gigachad.

Honestly i liked support pantheon thematically, as it kinda fit in with his identity as a protector of mortals, and who is more mortal than your adc?

By far, aesthetically and lore wise, this is the best champion ever made
Pantheon is my favorite legend in the game. It took me a long time to figure out what I look for in a character but pantheon embodies my playstyle better than anyone else. As a low elo shitbag most people don’t respect pantheons crazy bully potential and before you know it I’m 9/1/7 and a full item ahead of everyone else

Mostly i like his rework, for new visuals, new lore, new epic voice lines his sounds, lore and visuals 10/10, but I dont like what they did with Q and E. Yes everyone know that Q was unfair and almost everone thought about making it a skillshot, so riot did it, but the damage from throw... its gone forever, it deals damage only when empowered and not pearcing someone before your target or low health champions, panth has no mechanics like zed W to place it behind enemy creeps so you can negate pearcing damage reduction. So you mostly tap Q and rarely execute, cant harass anymore with it even its a skillshot now. And E ? Same as with Q mostly its a defensive ability and rarely to deal a bit of damage when everything else on cd or to speed up with empowered version of it. And its clumsy, epsecialy with new champ types who jump, blink, blink behind you etc. After you said people picked old panth just to cheeze top i am instantly think about now people pick him to cheeze melee mid laners. And my favorite quote is Zoe encounter "I have faced many self proclaimed gods. The worst wears the face of a child". And thank you for your work man.
everyone keeps talking about "blocking 2 attacks in a row" but there was also a fairly easy setup to block 3 in a row, "get 3/4 stacks for a block > use W on a minion to get a block (3/4 persist) > wait W cd out > tank turretshot > attack to get 4th stack > tank another one > W > tank third
