As everyone else is commenting here, this area has literally been inundated with new people moving in. They're stacked in so tight they've ruined the area for the locals.

I know the feeling. I'm in north Florida and it's been happening here for decades since high-end realtors discovered us. Ruined it for locals and took away all the charm. It just keeps getting worse. I have a lifelong friend that just moved to South Carolina. She says they've met people from Boston and from South Florida that have recently moved there as well.

I live in one of these sates and to be honest over the past couple of years I feel like my home has been invaded. Many of them are from the North seeking cheaper property, tax's and insurance costs. As they move in, we are planning on moving out within the next 5 years. You can have this over crowded place.....we're headed to Costa Rica.

Since I live in the Tampa area, I have visited Costa Rica numerous times over the past 25 years... even used to own undeveloped property there in the Puerto Cortes area. Just remember, if someone moves into/onto your property while you are not there, if they are Costa Rican, you will have a battle on your hands to reclaim your property.

I'd love to hear about the crime rate and drug influence connections in terms of "these coastal cities" having not been largely "industrialized" then proceeding to mention some of the larger ports 'container'. Actually, I'm not good with words many times so basically the info IS VERY INFORMATIVE...jobs, people, traffic even, yet, what about crime in these towns where the population has been largely lower for coastal areas but with increasing number infiltration the crime and drug info would be a nice piece of INFORMATION. To the person thinking on East TN, again, as with anywhere, it largely depends on where exactly you land. 😊

One, for the last 3 years our coastal cities are slam full with retirees and their adult children in tow from the NE. Two, the areas where there are no people is either protected national parks or salt marshes. Rivers flow south through our marshes into the ocean.

What the crap are you talking about with "empty southeast states"?
Georgia is the 8th most populated state in the country.
North Carolina is the 9th most populated state in the country.
Georgia and North Carolina both have around 11 million people each.
That you can call a region "empty" when it contains the eighth and ninth most populated states, and rapidly growing, is northern bias, it seems.
Sure, the coastal areas of Georgia and North Carolina aren't very populated, but most of these states' population lives inland, namely the Piedmont.
