I agree. Disney has a way of remaking movies into something they are not. Nobody can beat the classics in fact the Disney says they were making a sequel and the fact that they just remade it isn’t right. The new movie’s plot isn’t the best I definitely liked the music but the characters I didn’t like besides three witches. Also, the original characters weren’t even mentioned once. WHY make an “ homage“ when you can LITERALLY ASK THE ORIGINAL CAST TO BE IN THE MOVIE! I though the movie would be like some new kid lights the candle and the original cast helps them fight back. Because I would pay big to watch that. But the newer version is awful.

Maybe the hot lady witch got it from the devil or maybe the history was written wrong. There is a lot of incorrect history about witches in real life especially from extremely Religious times like they come from.
They revealed that Billy wasn't actually Winnie's lover who cheated with Sarah but instead Sarah's lover who Winnie shared one kiss with and that she ruined his reputation forever.
You know….. if they ever fully created a movie telling their backstory, I would be all in! The beginning was literally a snipet of something that could’ve told a great story. Them being born, meeting each other for the first time and their adventures and mischiefs. We need to see this story of Whinnie and Billy Butcherson; when they met, their first kiss, when he started laying eyes on Sarah. Hell id even love to see how she managed to lure, poison, then sew his mouth shut 😂😂😂

I would love a third one to be that Winnie had a secret child that she gave up because she didn’t want to eat or suck the life out of him, then we find out in the end that Allison from the first one is related to Winnie through that bloodline. Then Allison helps take down the Mother.

Also she's wearing the color red, a color that got one of the first people in the witch trials to be hung. She wore a red bonnet and worked at a tavern. She was considered a bit too rough for a woman (she literally dealt with drunk people, what the fuck did they think?) and people believed a color that "exotic" and eye catching while being surrounded by drunk men meant she was a witch somehow. I believe her name was Bridget, but I can't fully remember.
So the first witch they meet in the woods wearing red and acting aggressive is a great accidental homage to that real woman.

I noticed the outfit but I saw it more than just a call back to Dani in the first film. Instead, the way I saw it was that Dani was dressed as Mother Witch aka Hecate for Halloween that year.

I think everyone knows the scene where Mayor Traske asks that guy to save his spot in line for the caramel apples. Well, later, that guy can be seen eating a caramel apple with his wife, and they’re dressed up as the devil and Medusa lady from the original hocks pocus.

I think it was partially in honor of Danny. And the other reason for her being so colorful. Is to show she's been long disconnected from the dull lives of mortals. No longer wearing dull colors to show she's original and her own person now, I also think it eas to show her youthfulness, (like that she's clearly been devouring children souls for decades, maybe even centuries.) Also what would you expect an all powerful immortal witch mother to wear. Bring old clothes like the villagers. Even in the original movie the sandersons (aka the witches) were the only ones to wear vibrant colors out of the entire village.
@@TYdehigh Yes, my original comment was in reference to the fact that it was done in honor of Dani. But she looks completely out of place. She looked like a fairy sorceress not a 1600s Salem Witch. If that’s what they intended, great for them, but that isn’t the vibe they should’ve been going for with this movie. Yes, the Sandersons also wore vibrant colors, but they still looked period appropriate. And they didn’t have bedazzled eyes.
She’s a witch or spirit. They don’t follow the same timelines as us / time is circular. Dani might be a witch

No, she was not, In the words of the people in charge, the similarity was merely circumstantial and they did not realize about it at the time, however and considering that they are talking about a third part, they will maybe take advantage of this and make the connection, since at first they wanted to have Dani in the sequel but the actress could not be there because of working schedule, and, in addition, the witch mother is still alive at the end of the film

Yeah there were definitely some plot holes..I think the reason I liked it is just because the original is so nostalgic to me. If this was a random movie id give it a 5 out of 10 but since it's Hocus pocus 2 I rate it a 7

I had such high hopes for a sequel but they made it cheap and it crashed and burned. If the original is Louis Vuitton, the sequel is Walmart starring three Louis Vuitton actresses. They deserved better.
