Great video , thanks for all the content. I’ve decided I’m buying and R1T myself partially because of your videos (also of course just the fact that its an amazing vehicle) . just waiting to have the finances in order to do so . I was always a jeep guy and there’s just something about the Rivian that speaks to me
As someone who works at Rivian and loves cinematography, I absolutely loved everything about this! Mind sharing all the gear you used to shoot? Really impressed with the dedication at shooting all the different angles.
@@mikepfeifer1753 It gets 300 miles range. Off roading you do maybe 3 miles an hour. Its like asking me when I had an Xterra that did less miles per tank if I always had extra fuel with me.
"Alabama Hills" being such a popular offroad spot makes it really hard for those of us in the state of Alabama to find offroading videos 😂 Looks like a great weekend!
Great video & setup you have there, was nice to see some 4 wheeling & the beautiful landscapes. I was surprised to see the surprisingly low hwy. efficiency then realized all the elevation gained. I guess the charging cost was a little more than $68 as you had 43% less charge than when you left home. Again great content keep it up.
Thanks for watching! The elevation gain sneaks up on you with this drive for sure - also the Falkens add some weight so I’ve seen a bit of an efficiency drop since I started running them.
Buddy, your videos are so NEXTLEVEL. Such a level of professionalism here. Really loved this one! Alabama Hills is such an awesome spot. And you showcased it so well. Looked like a great trip - gotta get out on the trail w/ you this summer. 👊🏼
Wait, is that the same Cerro Gordo mine that Brent Underwood has been fixing up? He has a RUclips channel called "Ghost Town Living" where he has been documenting his restoration of the town at the top of the road. Last year he did a running race up the road, haha!
Yup it’s the same area! Although I believe the other entry to the road is the easier way to get up to that ghost town. I’ve definitely heard of his channel!
Thanks! Hope you can understand but I generally don’t share specific coordinates for campsites. Part of the fun in doing this is taking the time to explore these areas and discover spots on your own👍🏻
Great content, again ! I’ve finally subscribed to you bro. You’ve left me with no choice . You are that good. I am in process of buying a R1t but little confused with R1s option. Will appreciate any input if you can guide me.
Thanks man! For sure some differences R1T vs R1S. I would just consider what your priorities are in terms of storage (R1T has gear tunnel and truckbed), overall size(R1T is longer), and seating (5 in R1T vs 7 in R1S) The general capability and user interface are basically the same between both vehicles. I personally like the unique feature of the gear tunnel and having a truckbed to mount my tent and keep it low for better efficiency. Really depends on what you’ll be doing and what your needs are though!
Definitely on a few of the more challenging trails I’ve done yes. I haven’t seen one on the market that I really like yet (most stick out too far to include a step) but it’s definitely an upgrade I’ll make once the right one is available.
Loving the videos man! Can’t wait to get an R1S myself. Some constructive criticism, I would play around with the music a little more. Although it’s good, it’s very “straight shooter”, I would try and add something more, maybe some more epic music on the awesome cinematic shots and maybe something a little different for the B roll/driving clips. Not that it’s a bad video, just that it’s missing a little something. Keep up the awesome content though!
Working on a similar setup. Got the truck, and iKamper. I just really don’t know how to actually get to camp in the wilderness. I think onX off-road would help with the BLM. But still. I don’t have the courage to go for it.
I did a video awhile back on some basics for getting started that you mind find helpful: ruclips.net/video/Raah3ORTE14/видео.htmlsi=U0yklH04XXjsMSz- BLM/dispersed camping is great but nothing wrong with getting started in a spot that has designated camp sites. Really depends on what kind of experience you are looking for!
Great video, Stephen. Looked like a fun trip. I’ve been curious how the Campstream works out in both cold and warm weather. I might pick one up this summer. I guess you could also control HVAC from the app if a temperature change was needed. Good stuff man!
reminding me why the R1S is a better option, you can sleep inside comfier and safer, without having to buy extra gear. Anyway, great scenery and filming. 👍
@@ChargeOverland Oh man, I’ve been drooling over Sony’s cameras for a while, I’m currently going back and forth between film gear and trusty, rather dusty EOS Rebel T4i. Seems like you’re making great use of your gear!
Love watching your videos! Let me know if you ever plan to get a small group together for an overnight/weekend excursion. I have an R1T with a RTT as well.
I generally stick to the Rivian recommendation for off road which is 30psi - higher than other vehicles I’ve driven but the Rivian weighs considerably more
Haha this is a good question! I’ve got some camping friendly soap (that I can dump out after using)and use a dometic water container to rinse stuff. Basically just fill the biggest bowl or pot with soap/water and wash everything in that👍🏻 I should film the process for one of my videos!
Stephen, your content has definitely been bending my interest in EV over landing. I was in Page, Arizona, with my family and my mother who likes to off road. She drives a Ford Ranger. We drove out to White Pocket, Arizona, in her truck and I kept thinking to myself how much fun it would be to camp out there. It’s BLM land. 4x4 is required to drive out there, so my Tesla Model Y wouldn’t have made it. I backpack on my own and car camp with the family but I’m getting tired of the crowds. I’ll be more interested in Rivian once it has NACS built into it. Have you used the Tesla Super Charger network yet? Your location made me think of Schat's Bakkery in Bishop. I’m sure you’ve been there but if you haven’t-go! I love Tesla but the Rivian is really appealing to me over the Cybertruck.
Happy to hear that you are enjoying the videos and gaining some interest in EV overlanding! I definitely enjoy getting out to BLM land sometimes as well just to have a more secluded camping experience. I haven’t used the Tesla chargers yet but am very much looking forward to the extra convenience I’ll have with their charging network👍🏻
Dude, I hope you're not done making youtube videos. That would be a great shame. The last one is already three months old, so I'm getting a little worried.

Thanks for watching! I also have a Jeep Rubicon but honestly it doesn’t get out as much since I got the Rivian 😂
Always the best videos! They get better every single time! Amazing! 🔥
Thanks🙌🏻 Wish you had been able to join on this trip!

@@ChargeOverland thanks! And where do you get your music from?
Another awesome video!!! Your cinematography is just incredible! Beautiful place, thanks for sharing your adventure with us!
Thanks so much!😃
Awesome! I have had my R1T for 2 years now in Colorado and have taken it to places my friend have to leave his 4 Runner behind.
Are you just finding a charger in the mountains someplace and topping off before you hit a trail?

Amazing video. So clear. I love the eastern sierras and all the great views of Whitney.

Giving it a watch now 😎
Great to see you guys out there getting it.
Looking swell my man
Thanks man!
awsome video! I live in Ontario, Ca and might be buying an R1T in the next month or two. Definately hitting up this trail soon after
Thanks! Enjoy the truck if you ended up getting one🤘🏻
Could you do the off roading piece with the Dual motor in Alabama Hills? Picking up my R1S Performance Dual motor and this trip looks perfect.
Trying to know this too, I got the dual performance r1t tho
I would say any of the Alabama Hills stuff should be do able with the Dual Motor👍🏻

It seems like an even better feature for cooling, since you can always get a better sleeping bag for the cold. I had no idea this was a thing.
Thanks it was a great trip! You can definitely control quite a bit from the app as well👍🏻
4:41 What?! Awesome
I love the level truck feature 😁

What do you use to air down and up the tires?
Rivian has a set of kits for that
Rivian have built in air compressor
