Cut him, save$. Trey Pipkins should NEVER play OL for Jim Harbaugh. Raise the bar, permanently. He's another Telesco whiff, flush the toilet please.
I don’t know how you guys overlook the fact that having WRs that can get separation and get open instantly off the line help take pressure off the o line and QB equally as much as having a good RT/line. Coverage sacks are a thing and so many times Herbert had 3+ sec to throw and no one could get open(besides Keenan). Our WR could not beat man coverage and Herbert had no where to go with the ball. Look at Tua, perfect example. Going in to the season his line was a disaster and had turn styles at RT and LT but he had WR with crazy explosiveness and was able to get the ball out all season in 2 sec or less and avoid coverage sacks and sacks in general bc of it which made his O line look and grade out(per PFF) a lot better than it was and PFF even commented on it. Having great talent at WR along with a great passing game scheme takes so much off the o line. Our line was league average and that was with terrible coaching. You guys acknowledge Harbaugh will improve so many things with this team through coaching but you think he can’t improve the o line play and specifically Pipkins play? He’s already said he can see McFadden as a center. How do you know that he’s watched the tape and has thought Pipkins was a problem/not a starting caliber RT? Has he ever said anything to that affect? Pipkins was our 2nd highest graded o lineman last year. The whole line regressed and the issue was with losing Linsley so our communication and protection packages, blitz ID/pick ups were atrocious. So were our TE but Pundits, “analysts” and “draft experts” said, “Herbert hurt, need RT” and its snowballed into some nonsense that everyone just parrots, like you guys are doing. Yes we need depth on the line. But with all the holes we have you don’t use a premium pick at 5 or even 11 for a RT that isn’t a true NEED where $9mil is already allocated to a player in that position. Center is a much bigger NEED. WR is a much bigger NEED. CB is a much much bigger NEED. You need to give Herbert true weapons that are capable of coming in and replacing Keenan and Mikes production right away. You only do that with elite WR and you don’t gamble on some later round flyers. How many rd2-4WR pan out or become legit “go to” WR1, especially in their first year. The farther back in the draft you go, the bigger the gamble so talking about WR class being deep doesn’t mean anything bc some players will be busts and you’re also gambling on the WR you like being there when it’s your turn to pick. That’s why even Craig said you take Nabers if he’s there. Hortiz said, “you’re never just one player away so you always take the most talented football players”. So stop acting like adding generational weapons is a worse strategy then picking up an extra pick or two for players of much lesser quality. Last thing, go look at every Chiefs offensive line player, what their grades were last year and where they were drafted in their respective drafts and tell me you can’t find OT/O line talent in rd2 or later.

Strength of Schedule just adds ANOTHER reason to be ALL IN on a 10-WIN / WILD-CARD season THIS YEAR. COACHING MATTERS.
