They look more mature in the manga, and more like actual 16 years olds in the anime (as in younger and more kawaii) Not only mature though, I find few of the jokes more funny in it, but again, my personal opinion
Ohh yes especially ones like Ryoga and Moose they look like full grown adults in the Manga, but with a mindset of a child. At least the Anime artstyle here makes them more cute, hence worked for their antic purposes (lack of direction for Ryoga, and Lack of sight for Moose)
