Heck yes! That's also on my to do list soon, new tires. I have a 92 and this week has been updating wear and tear parts from a new water pump and fan clutch, to adjusting the valves and valve cover gaskets...... and the dreaded PCV valve and all that quesadilla. Glad it still lives!
My Uncle just sold me his 92 Toyota Pickup 22RE for $500. It has 306,000 miles and still running smoothly. I am learning how to drive manual with it and wow, this truck is so easy to learn in my opinion. It's not my daily driver, but it definitely is my little project truck.
That's exactly the kind of overkill painting I was hoping for! Looks great. I just replaced the 195/80R15 Hankook Dynapros on the Freelander, about 1565lbs and probably what you were offered. They look tiny on an SUV but they're good, they're cheap here too compared to alternatives.
I went with 215/75/14's but wish I would have went with 205's as I lost 2 miles per gallon over the 195's. you have put my OCD at ease with that rear bumper and I happen to have some rectangular tubing around somewhere lol.
My ocd meant I spent waaaaaay too much time researching tires before deciding to buy these. So far, I'm extremely happy with these tires in both size as well as weight capacity rating. They ride smooth and don't look squashed. The rear bumper was built with square tube and I chopped up a square tube trailer hitch that fit inside the rectangular tube. I did use Toyota bumper brackets and welded the tube directly to the bracket. I have towed way too much with this thing, but it still sits straight as the day I built it in 2005. Have a great weekend.
Surprised you didn't roast off those BFG test out the power of the reman engine lol. The old Chev Colorado pickup can't remember what year it was. It has the same 14 inch tires the boss had the BFGs on the back they had pretty good traction. We called the truck the go cart it was like driving one. It was okay driving it, truck is a single cab long box its a little small no way I'd take it for long drives.
It's crazy to think just how many miles and how many hours I have spent stuffed into this little truck...I guess we do what we do to earn what we must earn.
I was with you until you painted the exhaust tip. lol I stopped running those bfg tires after some sidewall issues . But i do like most of their tires .
@5:33 That bracket supports the intake manifold. Look at your number one runner on the intake, you should see a square part it connects to then the other side bolts to the engine mount.
Thanks for the info. I did eventually figure it out, I ended up calling the engine builder, who specializes in Toyotas and he was able to tell me right away.
Any numbers on your mystery metal bar? If so you might Google the number or give it to a Toyota dealer parts dude and get a description of the part to narrow down it's home.
Thanks Dan, I called the engine builder because he has been at Toyotas for a very long time and offers engine removal and reinstallation as well. If anyone would know it would be him. I started to describe the part and he knew what it was before I was done with my description. It's a support bracket that bolts to the passenger engine mount and under the top of the intake manifold.
Great job. New vehicles are junk and they keep getting worse. We are going to have some serious transportation issues soon... especially on the west coast... keep on truckin
Turns out it's a support bracket from the passenger engine mount to just under the top half of the intake manifold... I ended up calling the engine builder, started to describe the part and He knew where it went before I was done explaining.
I bought this truck with about 42,000 miles and it was my daily construction vehicle and worked hard since 2005. It blew a head gasket at 288,886 miles. I chose to do a complete Toyota parts rebuild vs. just doing the head gasket. I have no complaints with this rig.

Sweet...they're great trucks. good luck with your updates!!
Great job getting the Toyota ready for the road again. New engine , tires and radio presets... you're good to go. 🛻😊👍
Thanks 👍

hahaha... that tip was nasty and bugged me for a long time. Of course, I am not a smart man. lol
That bracket goes under the intake to brace it up

... Uniroyal Tiger Paws are what the brand new 1980's S-!0 pickups had ... !
I did not know that. They seem to ride nicely.

I agree... I'm going to keep this one going until California outlaws internal combustion engines.
How is the 22re doing? Still clicking along?
It's running like a champ and back to being my daily driver.
good to hear!
Awh man...Why didn't you mount white stripe out? LOL
hahaha...not my style.
How's the Dog doing??
She's good...much happier now that her truck is back in operation. Thanks for asking
bet the rod goes under the truck

You blew up the original engine? You must have abused the living crap out that little truck.

@@yourbeekeeper nice I hope I get many miles like you from mine. 159k at the moment
