Fun Clockwork Fact: The ending song sang by the perfume doll "Soltia" called "A Lullaby" was written by the composer for his newly born daughter right around the time of production for the first game. It was originally going to be called "A Lullaby for Ms. (Insert her initial here)", much in the vein of members of The Beatles dedicating song titles to their kids and/or wives, but was not allowed as it came across as too personal. Haha
Part of what made the Sega Saturn so exciting to play was how often you got the 'no CD' screen when you turned it on. In the rare instance a game actually worked it was exhilarating.
I remember this game like an early childhood fever dream. For some reason I remember it being called "sir riding-stock and ginger" lmao. Cool to see that it actually exists and evidently I once played a saturn.
Those boss battles were bonkers! (That one in the top hat had Treasure-grade hilarity.) To think I passed on Clockwork Knight back when it first came out... this was a fun watch.
Certainly correct by solid but for some reason when I go back on this series, this is for every moment, this series places me back into a very "particular feeling" that I haven't ever really felt with on anything else in the sense of nostalgia. Whether that moment of time may be exaggerated or completely altered for what it actually was (very young then), the fact that I still get the familiar reaction (even years after) for clockwork knight 1 & 2; This game holds a unique quality to me personally even when we know realistically this game isn't amazing.
Maira Sanchez Mediocrity generally doesn't evoke those sorts of feelings. Sure, it's not one of the all-time great platformers, but it checks most of the boxes for what people would expect out of a legitimately well-made game. In short, you're not seeing through rose-tinted glasses. :)
Well Thanks :D And, I don't really believe that's true with the first sentence. There are many instances where something among these topics like a film for example, can be terrible or not too great critically but by personal standards can hold a great feeling from the experience it brings. Like what people call "cult classes" (example) or like the quote " it's so bad that it's actually good". I personally think this game graphically speaking was amazing for it's time and the concept is very interesting to me (And at least graphically corresponding in the characters actions) but the only problem was the lack of difficulty, the mediocre gameplay, and response of a basic dull storyboard. Wish it had more depth but I understand why the game was so short (capabilities with 3d at that time).
Maira Sanchez Cult classics either have little or no following when they premiere or are outright panned for being far outside of the day's societal norms. They gain followings in subsequent years and sometimes become huge. They're generally not considered bad or mediocre. "So bad it's good" is just something that's so incompetent that it's fascinating or hilarious. A good example of a Saturn game that fits that criteria is Death Crimson. IMO, mediocrity is worse than being bad. There's nothing memorable about it, good or bad. It just exists.
this game was impressive for a first Saturn line up game, 60 FPS with sprite and real polygonal textured 3D for some element, almost high res mode and the music and sound effect was entirely made by the Yamaha sound chip inside, no audio red book involve here, this hardware was underestimate back then Night In to Dream and Virtua Cop 2 was also impressive.
I've remember playing this game when I was 12 years old. I actually destroying enemies they pop like balloons to me. One of my childhood memories yaaaay!! 🙌🙌🙌
I loved this game....everytime time you beat the game, you get a new character at the title screen... damn i sat home and beat this 10+ times just to get everyone. Too bad i couldnt save or atleast get a screen shot of it lol
This game reminds me of Toy Castle. You know, a TV show called “Toy Castle”. That was aired in Canada. Aired on Treehouse, SCN, Knowledge Network, Access The Education Channel and TVOntario.

there are two versions of walkthroughs on youtube. i recall similarities in both but this one has parts i dont remember. how many versions of this are there?
Is there another game very similar in style to this for the Sega Saturn? I'm trying to find a game from my early childhood that had a miniature toy world
What did you do to wake the princess!!???? We couldn't wake her yeard ago. Always got to the bit that he runs up to her and it said something like "you failed to wake the princess, game over" and just bounced us back to the beginning. 20 years and still can't find the answer! What did you do please?
Fun fact, this game was the basis of the engine used for the Race n' Chase perspective of the first two Grand Theft Auto games. (where the 3D platforms in this game was used as the overhead perspective of buildings and the 2D background being used as the main overhead gameplay)
The basis? Incorrect. Clockwork Knight inspired Keith Hamilton to make a side-perspective engine, which later evolved into a top-down engine. While it was a source of inspiration, as mentioned above, the GTA engine was custom. Any source that claims it used the Clockwork Knight engine is incorrect.
That text was cut out from western releases, so there is no translation. I have provided subtitles for the ending based on the English language release. Click the CC button. Music lyrics are also subtitled.
@@SaturnMemories is there any way you could double check the captions and make sure they're still correct? I don't see anything for the text between the first two levels
This game's theme and music is so disturbingly unappealing to traditional tastes. It's so weird. Hard to imagine how this got green-lit, but give Sega credit for bringing unconventional fare to market.
To be fair, this was played on an emulator that didn't emulate the music correctly, and it usually sounds much better than this. The music is out of tune, by no fault of the uploader. That said, the actual music of the game is not everyone's cup of tea either~ Can't say I agree about the theme, though.
I remember playing this game on my Saturn when I was a little kid I didn’t know how to jump so I was stuck on the very beginning of the first level lol
I'm sorry but the Saturn's graphics were very ugly and never came close to the Playstation's. That's what happens when you add features in the last minute of productions. Most of the games were also terrible.

Mannn this brings back memories as a child .For some reason I used to feellike I was the only one in the world who knew about this lol
Me to bro 😂
This game along with the second one are really underrated.
True
This games in the oldest part of my memory. I loved it

I would like to learn more about this. Do you have a source I could read on about for this?
Peter O'Hanlon Wow! If that’s true, that’s really sweet
That's some wholesome and heartwarming shit right there!
Great game, one of the few games I had when I got my Sega Saturn back in 1995.
The original keyblade weilder!
HA!
i get it cause sora has it but pepperochau
Ha ha ha! Yeah, your right! 😂
This was one year before Toy Story. That's surprising.
Wait, seriously? Holy crap! 😲
This game -1994
Toy Story - November 1995
Incredible isn’t it.
I always liked this more and I played both as a kid at release.
It's probably the first toy story series before the movie series in 1995.
That hideous TV thing at the end clearly inspired the final boss of Undertale
nice vid. I played this always with my daughter back in the day.
Koki Andp that’s adorable. I bet it was really fun.

The first real Keyblade Master

This is a trip to memoryland... I still own this game, I loved it as a kid but never managed to beat it.
懐かしいなぁ…小学生の時ハマってたな…
This is one of the first video games I ever remember playing as a kid
This video unlocked a core memory I forgot I had.
I wish they can make more of these

one of the best platform game ever, Sega should remake this game
Imagine if Sega did a third game on Dreamcast...
Wonderful saga. :-)

Please see my channel, there is a playlist with every title screen there under "Our Clockwork Content"~
I remenber listening to CDs on the saturn and a spaceship flying in like a lightspeed screen came up
Oh my God, I literally never knew what happened after the attic. I could never get past it
Awesome! Nostalgic! ❤❤
Going from super nintendo to this was bananas.
Also this game and it's sequel are some of my favorite platformers of all time.
@@biggreenblob big same! I have the disc that features both games in one, need to replay both soon.
I never realized he was actually using a keyblade whenever i first played this when i was a kid... He may have been the first true keyblade master. 🔑😂
Not "may have"... he WAS the original! ^^
Clockwork Knight Is Kingdom Hearts World Confirmed
thank you!
Here in "2023" The wind up, with the 🗝️.. starts to bring back memories.💪🏾only the real "SEGA" heads know..
This was probably the first game I ever wanted to cuss at as a child. Great times.
this guy fucking CRUSHED it
Clockwork knight was Toy Story before Toy Story became the best successful 3D movie we know and love
So surreal
This game is very charming
Such an underrated game, which is kinda a good thing since its pretty cheap:)

I had to search for it. And your spot on lol. Thanks for the comparison

This game is so head of it’s time
素晴らしい
Ich liebte dieses Spiel, so geil.
Wow this was my favorite game as a child
I still want to know what is the thing that walks menacingly in the intro
Something seems really off with the audio.
Is the localized version altered? I dont remember the characters saying anything before each course
The between level dialogue was cut out of the western releases.
If you use memory cartridge, how do you use It..i want to save data game But i can not save It..Let me know please ..
Hit the reset button and move the save file from the system memory to the cartridge memory.
Very nostalgic for me.
I got a sega Saturn this year
Looks Like Pepper Has A Keyblade
(Before Kingdom Hearts Was A Thing!!!)
8:15 🤨
is this game 2 players? cause I want to lets play this game with a friend
I was poor as a kid and played the demo all the time lol
Clockwork started it all before toy story
there are two versions of walkthroughs on youtube. i recall similarities in both but this one has parts i dont remember. how many versions of this are there?
They are two different games.
oh ok. I actually purchased a Saturn tosay on ebay for a good price. Do know any tips on how to clean the system?
+shrek is kewl Visit "The Sega Holic" on RUclips. Some of his earlier Saturn rescue videos also include cleaning instructions.
This was one of the funnest games I ever played
Is there another game very similar in style to this for the Sega Saturn? I'm trying to find a game from my early childhood that had a miniature toy world
Nvm this is it, I'm just remembering the middle levels
This is what the first Toy Story game should've been.
Loved playing this game at the age of 7.. Kinda sucked but I was pretty good 😌 #SegaMemories

Play the second game of the serie, you'll find the answer 🤗
Big game
8:16 “KKK” lol.
The original keyblade heroes!
Wow. I remember nothing past the first level. I guess I couldn't get past the first as a kid hahah.
The train level is my fave

Just once I wish one of these living toy things had a sentient sex doll. Shoulda been a level called "under grampas bed" or "mommy's secret drawer".
Holy shit lmao
@Jorge Aviles no but I wish it was guy from four months ago I forgot to reply to.
I wish there would be a PC game as fun as Clockwork knight🌝 It could be Cyber punk type tho!
This came before Toy Story 1 movie right?
Only came cuz Gamehut said it was an inspiration for Toy Story for the Genesis
It'd be pretty cool if this game inspired Toy Story.
My god the music for 1-2 slaps so hard. 1-1 does too, just not as much
wait, you took down your first playthrough of the game?
+shrek is kewl It's unlisted. You can still access it via ruclips.net/video/VO0p3ya-fDk/видео.html if you really want.
Are you using an emulator?
Why is the in-game text in Japanese and NOT ENGLISH?
That text was cut out from western releases, so there is no translation. I have provided subtitles for the ending based on the English language release. Click the CC button. Music lyrics are also subtitled.

Wow, I'll see this before.... That's cool games is! This beautiful woman ongs!!! Hey, where you get that from, mate?
something which wantead to be Mario
I remember playing this game on my Saturn when I was a little kid I didn’t know how to jump so I was stuck on the very beginning of the first level lol
How didn't you know how to jump, even as a little kid. Don't you try pressing all buttons when you don't know what to do?
today
That didn't age very well graphically though...
@Shinyo Hadoken I prefer the era where the sprites were hand drawn... I hate the prerendering.
Sort of looks like toy story
I'm sorry but the Saturn's graphics were very ugly and never came close to the Playstation's. That's what happens when you add features in the last minute of productions. Most of the games were also terrible.

The music in this game is clownish and awful. I don't feel drawn in, I feel repulsed.
