the grenade makes the game kind of trivial, it's still hard, because there's millions of shit in the screen to dodge, but the bosses get very easy with it.

I would love for a remake. Especially because I've had two physical copies in my life, and both had an issue where they went to an infinite pit of black nothingness just after the second major boss (the one in the mines). And this is on three-four different consoles psx that we've owned through the years. So I love the game to pieces-- it's actually one of my absolute favorite games of all time. But I've never been able to finish it-- not because I'm bad at it (I mean...I am, but that's beside the point) but because it literally would not let me continue. 8( A remake or even just a port would be awesome.

Throughout the whole of the 90s, Square was batting a thousand. It seemed like everything they released was solid gold. It was a hot streak that really hasn't been seen since. There may never be another perfect storm of talent, tech, and accessibility that leads to such glory again.
It all went downhill when Squaresoft and Enix merged. That star you let live will glitch back in the middle of the screen, if you're not careful it will kill you. 18:10 When you destroy all of its three weapons, Gustav will move in the middle of the elevator and spin while firing huge spreading energy orbs. 22:46 There is a mosquito gunpod on the very bottom near the back, in the beginning of this area. The weapon is nearly useless but will add to the gallery. 25:33 If you do enough damage to its side missile launcher and to the bottom part of Sturmvogel, It will jettison the lower part and manifest gold looking orbs that grow big and kill you if you don't destroy it. 28:00 If you use the wasp homing missiles they will actually go for that transport vehicle in the background, and spit out a mosquito gunpod, again not useful but they hit harder than the grenade gunpod. 30:40 Funny enough if you look closely at the headless boss, it still follows your movement with its neck stomp. 33:02 Again if you use the homing wasp missiles here, they will go after those enemies in the background, If you manage to destroy one you'll just have to deal with two. The minor details in game is crazy. 34:16 If you destroy its armored skirts and weapons excluding the chest lasers. Then prolong the fight it will manifest glowing blue orbs near you that explode like a mine, caught me by surprised it did. 42:59 The music should have stopped and HUD disappear the moment Hyperion was destroyed, must be an emulator thing. If the Earth and Moon are at war, it must be an Earthican who Thumbed down...however, the Moon forces did try to destroy Einhander once it served its purpose so it could be Moonenites who thumbed down. I smell a conspiracy.
I haven’t played this game since it’s release and I can still hear that lady’s laugh from the first level. That’s the only reason I searched for this and wow what a run.

@@commmander64 According to background material and from what people were able to piece together: Selene (the ruling government of Moon colony) realized that they were running low on resources and began targeting Earth, by spreading propaganda that Earth's government is amassing all the wealth and resources for themselves, and that they should be destroyed because of that. Selene began ruling their people with almost cult-like approach; they demanded blind worship and obedience to an almost religious level. Einhander pilots were trained for what are essentially suicide missions, for two reasons; 1. to exhaust and weaken Earth's military defenses. 2. to ensure that the Einhander pilots who saw Earth for what it really is (a barren, decrepit wasteland just as low on resources as Moon colony) cannot return and expose the truth. When the player's pilot survived against all odds, they Moon government made a last ditch attempt to ensure the secret is buried, by claiming the said pilot has completed their rite of passage and has the "honor" of being killed by the Selene's new EOS fighters as their target practice.

Ahh, einhander. Excellent game, still one of the best shooters to date. The bosses: just the way they move and fight, like if these war machines were real they would fight like this, so much thought and detail put into how the machines move and operate. The soundtrack: still one of the best video game soundtracks IMO, techno really gets your heart racing as you play this masterpiece. The visuals: switching between 2d and 2.5d for most boss intros and even the fact that some bosses can move into the background and attack you from there, wonderfully done! This game did so much right.
I got back into this game recently. It's so good. Could get through easy mode so I was feeling cocky. Turned it up to hard mode. Wow. This game becomes so hard. Watching you beat it without dying and getting all S bonuses was too much. You played so well it's almost frustrating to watch.
Miss this game and still own the soundtrack!! Pity you wipe the bosses before we get to enjoy their music lol! But the best music starts at 38:33 anyway. Great job and thank you for sharing this!!!

chills in my spine as the outro song plays.., i remember when i was small as my older siblings would play it.., and years later, i would also play it myself.., i admit though.., while i made it to the end.., i still needed alot of work to even reach that level.., maybe ill play it again one day.., and hope that Square(and enix of course) do alil project, cause while a sequel is impossible nearly.., a prequel certainly is not.., even if just a small arcade game(ie just a small lil pet project) Edit: P.S. i knew you can flamethrower the blade, though it ain't useful.., i never really tested out how using the blade in such away would be in combat.., its games like these where lil tricks, logic, and mechanics can surprise you.., and it all starts by picking up the first weapon everyone mostly gets..,

If the Earth and Moon are at war, it must be an Earthican who Thumbed down...however, the Moon forces did try to destroy Einhander once it served its purpose so it could be Moonenites who thumbed down. I smell a conspiracy.
oh man, that was a nice trip to my memories, ty and well played
Thanks for the compliment. This was my childhood game too, one of my favorites.
I freaking love this game and his amazing soundtrack. So underrated.
Nice longplay btw :)
I love it when you dance around with the songs!
This game need a lovely remake!!!
Thank you!! just few peaceful break time I got to do whatever during the game lol.
I haven’t played this game since it’s release and I can still hear that lady’s laugh from the first level.
That’s the only reason I searched for this and wow what a run.
I really missed this game. Imagine this remastered with the latest graphics !
like ff7
They have to do it.
@@MrGoodboyjoy What about like Radiant Silvergun? It may not have been entirely remastered with modern graphics, but its remastered version for the XBox looks good.
Perhaps this game could do with similar treatment?
This game is awsome. Makes me go back to 2000.
I still play this game today. Thanks for the excellent playthrough. The game's OST and style are still unmatched.
YES, YES!!! this was my favorite PS1 game of all time. Took me years to find the name of it. Thanks!
You know what the sad part is about me and this game, I love this game so much that I played more of the demo than I did the actual game.
Anyone that chooses to use and is proficient with the Blade weapon on hard mode get my vote. Well done. I never beat this game back in the day, but it's so good that I may have to go back and try again.
I used to play this game a lot when I was a kid danm this is imaginable to me till nowadays pretty danm Good job and greetings from Brazil
Hey there, thank you for the comment!
This was def one of my favorite childhood games.

40:33 "You are commiting an act of treason"
*Nevermind the fact that dozens of Moon ships tried to gangbang my fighter*
I was thinking that too. Your side betrayed you. Not the other way around. But why though?
@@commmander64 According to background material and from what people were able to piece together:
Selene (the ruling government of Moon colony) realized that they were running low on resources and began targeting Earth, by spreading propaganda that Earth's government is amassing all the wealth and resources for themselves, and that they should be destroyed because of that. Selene began ruling their people with almost cult-like approach; they demanded blind worship and obedience to an almost religious level. Einhander pilots were trained for what are essentially suicide missions, for two reasons;
1. to exhaust and weaken Earth's military defenses.
2. to ensure that the Einhander pilots who saw Earth for what it really is (a barren, decrepit wasteland just as low on resources as Moon colony) cannot return and expose the truth.
When the player's pilot survived against all odds, they Moon government made a last ditch attempt to ensure the secret is buried, by claiming the said pilot has completed their rite of passage and has the "honor" of being killed by the Selene's new EOS fighters as their target practice.
I love this game so much. Greatest space shooter of all time
Man this game is something else. The music, the unique gameplay, the bosses, the secrets, just everything about this game is just fantastic. I was really happy to see that the Einhander team worked on the Gummi Ships in KH3. Even happier when they brought the Endymion as a ship, the Swarzgeist as a boss, and the original track if you use the Endymion in that fight! Made me want to boot up Einhander again. Great playthrough my man!
It has been like 20 years since I played the game and I could not ever think of the name and after all this time I have never felt so accomplished
If I had a dime for every time I was introduced to an underrated shoot em up game with a phenomenal soundtrack from one of the songs in something completely underrated, I’d have two dimes! Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Gorgeous, challenging, innovative and...that OST still kicks all kinds of ass. One of the best PSX shooters ever
The soundtrack compliments the gameplay so well it's insane
I had the demo version for this game as a kid so never got to play the full game but damn the memories are real with this one, this game was way ahead of its time
Don't feel bad yo, I finally got the real game and couldn't get past the 2nd level anyways!
Gotta love how the levels transition into each other rather than fade to black. Also love whenever you dance to the music!
After playing Armored Core 6, this game comes to mind.
I remember this game it was so fun and hearing these badass songs is giving me the chills
One of my greatest memories was playing this all day and night but didn't finished it. Hehe. Thanks for uploading this. ❤️
Berna Casquio Do you still have the game ? If so, you must finish it! ❤️ It gets a lot better and fun late game.
@@Ramencafe nope. Don't have it anymore and it's waaaaay back 2000 i think? This game took me many days but you only finished it after 49mins. Cool! 🙌
Berna Casquio Oh trust me, took me weeks to get this done 😂 Hard mode was almost too difficult.... it was frustrating to finally get it done without dying but at the same time it’s very fun.
I hope they make a sequel or something similar to this in the future..
Played this game on the interactive demo this was a true gem
I remember playing this game on one of the demo disks they used to have. I thought the gameplay was really fun and found the atmosphere to be extremely cool. I really need to get a copy. This was a great run.
never heard of a emulator? lol its 2018 and so many people talking about "copies" wake up
@@soldatheero got a shit computer so a disk is more useful. But thanks for sharing you're smug superiority.
@@SphereofEmotion Thank you it feels absolutely wonderful :) i am basking in it
Grat memory, I remember the same
Vanquish gave me this vibe so much, god I loved this game back in the days
24:06 Huge loss on the beam saber there. You had so much ammo! But dang you must have played this game a lot to make a run like that. Mad props.
Thank you for noticing it 😂😭 Man.. I hate that part lmao. Super cramp tight space, so difficult to avoid lots of stuff. I can't imagine carrying big ass gun like Juno while going through that part.
No shit hey. Anything past 2000 is nice nvm 3000 lol
The only thing I hate in Einhänder more than the last boss, is the fact that our weapons can be destroyed.
Yeah he was kickin ass with the blade
@@Ramencafe I mained Astraea and Selene. Bouncing weapon drops in THAT corridor are sometimes impossible to dodge. My guns T.T
I still think about this soundtrack to this day despite having not played in 20+ years. I only recently was reminded of this game and watched this video just like 2-3 years ago. What a ride down memory lane.
The music of this game banger ❤
Happy someone else took this game seriously enough to master it like did, the music, atmosphere and secrets made me play this game to completion. I just had to get that laser beam weapon
19:40 Someone just went full Jedi mode!
I had two friends on school, Daniel and Leandro, and Daniel had a dry ballpoint pen that he shakes all the time like a thermometer - but he didn't throw the pen away even when we give new pens to him - and some day, I was playing Einhänder with Leandro in his house and I start to full jedi mode, and Leandro says "It looks like Daniel trying to make his dry pen works!" kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
After years of playing this game and just now i've watched the end because it was so hard for me to complete. Excelent gameplay
Thank you for this amazing video! I had the game long time ago when it barely came out, I cherished it with fervour, until my stupid cousin took it without my permission , ever since I havent played it, but I finish the game as well, my little brother was watching me at the given time, he was completely hooked with shooter universe right after my playthrough , we couldn't forget the vibrant graphics, rock solid music , and amazing gameplay! I hope I put my hands in another copy once again anytime soon... kudos for your amazing job here bro!
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!
I no longer had my copy as well.. these days I could only play this game via epsxe.
@@Ramencafe , that's cool too, I bet you have a a nice setup in order to play the games via emulator, I did it as well , but it doesn't run so smooth like in your excellent gameplay. By the way, I recently gotten a Japanese Ps2, and the library of shooters for ps1 and ps2 its incredible, and even better, way cheaper than the domestic market, they have some other games that never were released here in the states ,like Thunderforce VI, check it out bro, just in case 👌 keep up the good work !
I just have typical PC xD Playing and record ps1 games is doable. I used to play Einhander all the time back then, this run took way too many tries. I got very frustrated at some point but I really enjoy the music in this game a lot, so I was able to make it.
I love PS2 by the way, so many amazing games.. Japanese PS2 lol I got one too just because I wanted to play Beatmania IIDX (Japanese region music games)
But these days, I havn't play games as much. I just play few games on PS4 at the moment. Really miss good old PS1 days though.
@@Ramencafe , guess what bro?! ... so nearly a month ago, I was browsing online, and I've noticed that, the Japanese edition of einhander it's way cheaper than the American version, so, I pretty much ordered it straight from Japan, and to my surprise my package finally arrived yesterday! Dude ,it looks so awesome and in mint condtion! If you have Twitter or Instagram I would send you some picks of the unboxing lol. It's my first time getting a japanese game from a japanese ebay seller, but my honest advice it's to wait until they have the "15% coupon " all across the ebay website, then look for the cheapest option using the filters, but zooming in the pictures of the games, in order to check the status of the CD, case and booklet, then keep the free shipping option, dont upgrade to the premium option, (it may get retain more time at customs and extra fees, from what I've heard from experienced buyers) ... and then wait patiently until the package arrives lol.. dang bro, so freaking happy! Lol, now i have to keep on training until I can play as good as you do! 👌, (btw, I ended up paying 20 bucks for my copy! )
Ooof I think I played this demo like 50 times but never actually beat the game. It was the wildest thing I've ever seen as a kid. And idk 24 years later it still holds up. We need a sequel or remake.
35:02 "The main unit can't make it for dinner."
Wut
Pilot slang for "No time for backup, it's all on you."
@@triplehate6759 Ah, thanks!
lol, the very next line out of her mouth is "pursue the stratigen spacecraft alone". context dude, context.
小さい頃にプレイした、今も大好きなゲームの一つです。
Amazing playthrough all around. Kickass!
I remember playing this in the early 2000's whilst listening to Fear Factory's - Obsolete man good times🥲
Este juego marcó mi infancia y al día de hoy sigo jugándolo. Tenía como 5 años cuando lo conocí ahora tengo 20 y fue y es de mis favoritos
I played this game so many times in my childhood too! It's been almost 20 years now, time flies.
I had this game . Loved it start to finish . Thanks for posting
I got back into this game recently. It's so good. Could get through easy mode so I was feeling cocky. Turned it up to hard mode. Wow. This game becomes so hard.
Watching you beat it without dying and getting all S bonuses was too much.
You played so well it's almost frustrating to watch.
I really need this game, I only played the old PS1 demo when I was a kid and It was fun as hell, if any game needs a remaster this one does.
Blew my mind when I first played this back in the day. So many amazing games back then.
Miss this game and still own the soundtrack!! Pity you wipe the bosses before we get to enjoy their music lol! But the best music starts at 38:33 anyway. Great job and thank you for sharing this!!!
The soundtrack in the first level is very Parasite Eve like.
I think there is even a Einhänder-pinball machine in Parasite Eve 2
This is how I even came to this video. Rewatching a parasite eve 2 playthrough and they seemed super excited about the pinball machine so I had to figure out what the game was.
Underappreciated comment. I noticed it too
The games like Einhander, Ridge Racer, Rival Schools are what made the original Playstation so next level. Good times.
You only see shooters early in the SNES - 1990/1991 but it’s early in the PS1 era and Square (the RPG company) publishes THIS stylish thing.
John Simon Shooters go as far back as the early 80s. In fact they started dying off in the 90s
This is simply incredible. That music is some of the best I've ever heard in a video game.
I was 8 years old playing this game on the demo disc because we were poor and couldnt afford new games all the time....I'm 29 now and damn if this wasnt the good ole days!
It's still good
I’m 29 now too! And also played it at that age on demo for a long time before I got the full version
One of my favorite games growing up as a kid in the late 90s. Thanks for posting this and for bringing back the childhood memories.
the explosion from the dying boss at @13:15 should have illumanted the tunnel . ps1 gfx
Best soundtrack in any video game hands down.
My only complaint with this game is I wish they had utalized the city atmosphere from the beginning more.
I wouldn’t have minded it lasting longer or for Einhander to pass through another city later in the game after sunrise.
Something about those 90's Japanese music tracks that hit different.
That fking woman ads always scared me when I was kid😂😂
I was trying to find out what this game was called forever and FINALLY found it! I used to play this when I was younger and something about the music and way the view kept changing used to scare me as a kid lol. Thanks for uploading 👍🏼😭
Einhänder is still one of my favorite shoot'em ups of all time. By the way,
I have my latest playthrough w/subtitles if you would like to check it out.
I’ve spent the last 5 years trying to remember this game and I finally found it again!
chills in my spine as the outro song plays.., i remember when i was small as my older siblings would play it.., and years later, i would also play it myself.., i admit though.., while i made it to the end.., i still needed alot of work to even reach that level.., maybe ill play it again one day.., and hope that Square(and enix of course) do alil project, cause while a sequel is impossible nearly.., a prequel certainly is not.., even if just a small arcade game(ie just a small lil pet project)
Edit:
P.S. i knew you can flamethrower the blade, though it ain't useful.., i never really tested out how using the blade in such away would be in combat.., its games like these where lil tricks, logic, and mechanics can surprise you.., and it all starts by picking up the first weapon everyone mostly gets..,
Just picked this up today! Haven’t played since I was a kid playing the demo. So ready!
So this is the game in its entirety.. Holy fuck. So dope I remember grinding the hell out of the PSX demo when I was 5. I dont think nostalgia has hit me this hard. 🎮🤙
EINHANDER : masterpiece.
I really hope this game gets a digital re-release someday...
_attention! einhander spotted! three seconds until contact!_
Interesting approach, I like seeing the different styles people try on this game, artkidsun also has a very good run, this isnt on that level but yours a is smoother play style.
Yess i finally found you so much memories nostalgia vibes
If anyone likes kingdom hearts and is buying 3, it's been confirmed the people who made this game are also designing the gummi ship missions in KH3
Fake news
nope, confirmed in an interview with Tetsuya Nomura; www.playstationlifestyle.net/2018/06/27/kingdom-hearts-3-gummi-ship-content-developed-by-einhander-staff/#/slide/1
Wow no way that's so cool!
Even the White Ghost made an appearance
the sixth boss made an appearence to :DDDDSD
I was 7 years old when I was playing this game back in the ps1 days.
Respect. I played it a lot and my best was the boss at 28:45. But still I wasn't able to kill him.
