#rammstein - Видеоклипы
In their song Deutschland they are not treating our homecountry any better.
Every country went through dark times ! The thing is : Always remember it...
Greetings from Germany
Yeah right! I just wish Americans would deal with their dark history the same way!
@@cristiangranados6292 Nonsens...
Oh kid.
You should remember to shut your mouth.
You get remembered every day 24/7 so you will follow the commands.
Besides that, you got completely shut down to criticize your slave holder.
Not sorry for the truth.
Vero
The song was written at the time under the impression that the U.S. had falsely chosen Iraq as a target for its revenge on 9/11 and lied to the world about weapons of mass destruction supposedly being there in order to gain its support.
The US never falsely chose Iraq as a target for 9/11.. Iraq was a target regardless, 9/11 was their entry
You say "no other country is clean, we are just the biggest". But isn't that the point? It is about self depiction. Everything looks like a sweet Coca Cola commercial and Disneyland is a place where you can get rid off reality for a few hours. And that shit sells like crazy.
I like that you say what you think, rather than saying what people want to hear. Reactors who don't say what they think are boring, so keep it up!
Thanks for this reaction 😊
Yes, they aren't subtle, just as USA wasn't during the Gulf War 😉 and song was wrotten under a strong influence of these events.
You liked the riff, so you'll LOVE the live performance of Amerika in Rock im Park! Trust me 😎
I appreciate if u tell us if a song isnt your type. That doesnt mean u dont like thr band... i like honest reactions. Keep going 😂👍
Nice reaction sir, greetings from Spain
Appreciate you sir, do more Rammstein songs with us!
im making an effort to do one every single week!
I'm not bashing, but I do want to give a bit of exposition or maybe my own thoughts on this:
"You can't lay it all on one group". While you're correct in that, its not like its possible to put EVERY group and country ever into one video. In "Deutschland" they sang about their love/hate relationship with germany. And in "Amerika" they sing about how they - and many other people around the world - view the USA. It has to be this specific or else the song would have no impact or meaning to it. There is only so much you can put into a few minute song before it gets convoluted or overwhelming.
I feel like a lot of americans who listen to the song miss the general meaning of it. And I dont mean the criticism (that much is pretty obvious imho) but the overall vibe of the song. I think its hard to grasp when you've grown up in america and have an insiders perspective on things, compared to the rest of the world who has a very specific picture of the US in their mind when the country is mentioned. We "experience" america in the same way you guys "experience" a country like Japan. Though the media.
There are definitely points where you can say "well its just a corporation, it can't so much in a country if the country doesn't let it" but thats not quite true is it?
The African continent has the natural resources and commercial power to become rich and influential but oppression, bribery, and exploitation by the west hinder its development. Colonialism and european & american influence are strong enough to hinder whole countries from being able to "say no" to a lot of things.
Let's use the The Philip Morris v. Uruguay case (2010):
Uruguay wanted to introduce restrictions on labeling and advertising, and public smokingbans. However, Phillip Morris sued the country for compensation using a right called investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS).
PMI sued Uruguay for compensation under a bilateral investment treaty between Switzerland and Uruguay. The case remains unresolved, but many of Uruguay's leaders have expressed doubts that the country, with a GDP of $56 billion, can win a protracted legal battle against PMI, which generated over $80 billion in revenues last year.
So while yes, countries tend to win against companies, there is still damage being done. There is still influence that spreads. And often times, it all starts out more or less harmless.
Just having a McDonalds in your country is not inherently bad of course. But if McDonalds then uses their billions of $ to put local chains out of business and spreads their locations to a point where its too late to intervene with anything but extreme and harsh measures then I cannot for the life of me see that as good or even remotely okay.
And if a company has more money than an entire country then they obviously have the means to influence politicians through lobbying, pro.ises, etc. So it's really not that black and white
You just don't undersatnd it... But wouldn't expect that from an american
oh fuck off already. you didnt really listen to anything i said. take your superiority complex and schieb es dir in den arsch
If you want you can take this song as an offending one, but look at Deutschland, Radio, Angst, and so on and you might get an other point of view. I personaly understand why they wrote this song esp. at this time.
it's not offense, it's resignation. many, many of we US citizens are very aware of how dumb and even spiteful we can be and quite naturally don't like it. so hearing it over and over from all just about everywhere, i mean, we can only vote so many times. there's only so many brands we can avoid because we don't like their practices. Some of us are self aware of our own society and really don't need the preaching to be ahsamed or embarraassed.
You should listen to Du riechest so gut! its my favourite song by these guys!
that's been recorded and is coming!
That song goes so hard especially live. I saw them last year in Los Angeles.
I know your country is always innocent. What else LOL
you didnt even listen to one thing i said
It's a staccato drumset ❤
check out 'were from america' by Mailyn Manson
I really like your honest reaction, so I wanted to contribute a translation of the lyrics, which might give you some additional context.
Granted, the lyrics aren't that deep and most of the things mentioned are quite clear, but you have to look at it in context to the time this song was published. It came out in 2004 and was likely produced in 2003 after the U.S. had started the Iraq War by essentially using false claims and (even at the time) largely debunked secret "intel" from the Bush administration. The war was contrary to international law, of course, with no consequences for the parties involved. At the same time we talked a lot about the human rights violations at Guantanamo Bay. Apart from the fact that people were tortured there, being held prisoner without charge or trial proceedings is, again, a violation of international law statutes. Here is a translation of the lyrics:
We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America
We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America
When there is dancing, I want to lead (I, I)
Even if you spin on your own
Let me control you a little bit
I'll show you how to do it right
We'll form a lovely circle
Freedom plays on all violins
Music comes from the White House
And in front of Paris stands Mickey Mouse
[Pre-Refrain]
(We're all living in America)
[Refrain]
We're all living in America
Amerika is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America
I know steps that are very beneficial
And will protect you from misstep
And if you don't want to dance at the end
You don't know yet that you'll be forced to dance
We'll form a lovely circle
I'll show you the right way
To Africa comes Santa Claus
And in front of Paris stands Mickey Mouse
[Refrain]
…
[Bridge]
This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, this is not a love song
[Refrain]
…
To the most degree, the lyrics are a foreign perspective, not something linked to the domestic politics of the U.S. government. There is a slight reference to the genocide of indigenous peoples in the video, though. The video is also mainly poking at cultural imperialism, globalization, and other issues linked to global capitalism.
From an international perspective, it's pretty hard to always force judgement on other countries and regions in the world, while acting against every statute of international law and using political influence in order to not face consequences for your own war crimes and violations of international law.
From a domestic perspective, the notion of not reflecting on the negative aspects of history within the United States is a common one. This part is totally on point today, if we see what type of restrictions are now in place in Florida (among other states) to not speak about the history of racism. The same is true about the atrocities that were committed against Native Americans. Sometimes it feels like the United States has been deprived of any consciousness about negative aspects of its own history and, in some cases, general European history.
To see a bill that effectively censors certain books in school libraries being passed in Florida, largely due to the Republican influence, should be automatically linked to mind control methods used by the Nazis, which led to the burning of books which were "blacklisted" before.
There might be a need to reflect on your own role and status in history before just basically numbing your senses with sayings like: "We are the greatest country in the world!" The average American, just like the average French or Bulgarian, doesn't know much about the world as a whole and is certainly not qualified to recognize their respective nations as "the greatest in the world." This statement is just a way to bolster some kind of nationalistic ego, which could easily lead to the acceptance of a status quo and the unwillingness to learn from other countries and identify failures and wrongdoings of the past. It's also bullying against every other country in the world, a pattern which is sadly reflected in the American foreign policy of the last seven decades.
While I would always prefer the American System over a radical Muslim theocracy, I would certainly not prefer the U.S. over most European states. Mainly because of the lack of worker's rights, healthcare, social security, a huge amount of influence from religious fundamentalists, the gun epidemic, and the rise of mainstream right-wing extremism within the GOP. I also don't feel comfortable in an environment that prohibits educating people about their own historic atrocities when it comes to Native Americans and African Americans.
As reflected in the video, in America, there is so much showbusiness and "fake" that is being surfaced in order to hide all of the negative aspects and atrocities of the past and present. And when it comes to foreign policy, with a greatly bolstered ego, what you get is mostly textbook bullying against other countries and, as the song stated, "sometimes war".
However, Rammstein is harsh about Germany as well. This comes with a nation that has (widely) learned to reflect on the atrocities of its history, even if the historic de-nazification process wasn't nearly as consequent and effective as it should have been.
Rammstein - I'll see you in June'23 in Padua / Italy 💓. And by the way. Check another great German band called NULL POSITIV and their songs "Independenz", "Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer", "Turm der Angst" and "Amok". You will surely not be disappoited.
The US is so big and rich because it has taken advantage of other countries, and it continues to do so to this day. However, I'm not blind enough to not admit that it also has great things and great people in it.
Every country has good and bad things, and we should be willing to see both sides of the coin.
For example, I'm from Costa Rica, something good we have here are nice people and beautiful nature, but we also have a lot of drug crimes.
Anyway, thank you for the reaction.
You're right. American culture has become ubiquitous but who's fault is that in the end? Americans for selling to us or us for buying it?
👍😍
Hi bro, i'm new on your channel ! I was always big fan of America, since i was a kid and i will be it forever ! I'm also a very big Rammstein Fan since the 90's !
I dont belive that America is all fake, two times i was in this great Country and i love all human there ! All people i met was very nice to me ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️
Hi from Germany. I think you're absolutely right about every country has/ is doing shi**y things and stuff and believe me Rammstein is not holding back from speaking about Germany. I think the context of this song is important. It was published at a time where the US was still seen as some kind of hero in Europe. Like the dream country where everything is possible and everyone wanted to go to the US. But at the same time (before publishing the song/ video) there was beginning of the Iraq war and Europe was divided between supporting the US (as it was seen as their big strong ally) or criticizing America's strategy there. That was the time and context this song was created. Rammstein is always doing (political) commentary. Today a bit more subtle compared to this :)
Concerning the corporations: I think you're perfectly right. The world WANTED to have all of this American stuff, so American corporations would have been stupid to not sell them to us ;)
Overall I'm sure Rammstein didn't mean to offend American people, it's more about government and politics....
I'm American and I understand where they came from with the song and it's why I love it. I call my own country out with things I write all the time I love this.
Mal wieder nix kapiert, der Ami.
