Very interesting and evocative - thank you. I walked the Fairfield Horseshoe many years ago. Do you film these yourself ? If so, it must be very time consuming … setting up a tripod etc !! And do you fly the drone yourself too ?! Anyway, a great final “product” … congratulations 👍🏼🎥

Thanks Clive, yes I'm a self shooter so capture and edit everything myself. It definitely adds a bit extra onto each venture and changes the dynamic quite a bit to a normal walk without the gear - but it's also nice to relive the walks in the editing suite and hopefully be able to look back on them in years to come. In some respects the same way Wainwright did with his books.

It's a great route if you ignore Stone Arthur and stick to the true horseshoe. Hope the weather is fair and you enjoy a great hike. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. See you in the fells.

My advice is to not go for any difficult routes yet until you have more experience, the Greater Fairfield is a very easy bunch of Wainwrights, I would get some help with map reading as there is a well marked path to Stone Arthur you just went completely the wrong way beginners mistake we all made them. Mapreading skills will help you so much

I agree the Greater Fairfield route is straightforward, in hindsight I would have continued ahead and not tried to included Stone Arthur, or dropped down to it from Great Rigg. It's an awkward one as Stone Arthur is not really on the same route as all the others - so whichever way you chose to include it, it involves a bit of extra effort (or perhaps missing off Nab Scar and Heron Pike). I think the biggest learning process from this one is that just because the website I'm using as reference for the circuits lists certain Wainwrights in a group, I don't have to stick to that script and it's better to use the maps in the field. I could clearly see where I needed to be on the OS map, but followed the route on Google Earth Maps as listed on the walkingenglishman.com - which does go off piste.
