“This feels like home for me… it feels so safe. So secure.” I hear you Abbie. Been meaning to do this walk for some time and can’t wait now. Love your videos! ⛰❤
I know this is an older vid. But I've just watched it (Again) as I'm doing this route next weekend & can't wait . Appreciated your soothing voice guiding us through the adventures we can later follow and enjoy .Your passion and completion I will use as inspiration to make sure I complete the route when it gets tough Also when you talked about feeling safe and secure and home !! Wow your the 1st person I've heard articulate my feelings when I'm in the mountains . I hear lots of positive talk about hiking but not many mention safe and secure and noware on earth makes me feel more safe and secure and connected to nature
So much fun to see a video of a place I've been! I had a chuckle at your parking situation. My husband and I were there in 2019, and we parked somewhere near Rydal Water. The parking machine only wanted coin money and we didn't have any! We scrambled through all our pockets and the cubbies in the car to find enough to pay so we could walk along the water. Lesson learned! Beautiful walk (those descents were insane!) I hope to return some day.
Top tip. When you get back to Ambleside, order a pint in The Golden Rule. Then force yourself not to take a sip for five minutes. If you're hot and tired it sounds impossible but you will then down it in two or three gulps and it will be the most memorable pint you ever drink. A fitting end to a brilliant hike.
Nice hike. We were in Ambleside on Saturday just gone.. October this year 23. It my birthday. So I wanted to be in Cumbria. Time away. And fresh air. Lake District really is beautiful. The fresh air u breath in is amazing.
Great video Abbie, myself and 3 of mates got lost in atrocious conditions upon fairfield horseshoe, low cloud, heavy rain, strong gust of wind, the like of which I've never experienced before or since, you could not breath, march 2006, only my second fell, the day before we did Helvellyn, in glorious conditions, we survived the horseshoe, a great experience, however we learned to respect the fells the hard way lol, been going up the fells two to three times a year every year ever since 👍
Happened to us last August. We got lost on Fairfield and ended up on St.Sunday's Crag in the fog. Basic schoolboy error. We decended into Glenridding in glorious summer heat. Had to taxi back Ambleside. We had forest the horse shoe 4 times as well.
Just come back from a week in the lakes staying on Ambleside. It’s my happy place for sure, I totally get what you mean about feeling safe and grounded. Great video as always 🥰 Stay Wild ⛰
Lovely hike Abbie! We recognised a lot of those fells as we’ve hiked Helvellyn & done the 10 mile deepdale horseshoe which climbs Hart crag then traverses across Fairfield crag then on to St Sunday. We filmed both hikes and love that part of the national park.
Hi Abbie, I’ve only recently discovered your RUclips channel and it’s truly wonderful. Your achievements, both physical and mental have been truly inspiring. I wish you well, you are indeed, a very special individual. Take care.
Hi Abbie WOW What a Beautiful Walk amazing views and perfect weather I've been up Fairfield a couple of times before but I've never been up that way before this will have to go in my bucket list atb Cheers Glenn it's a 👍👍👍💗💗💗 from me
Abbie, I'm an addicted hiker because of you. I love your videos. Thank you for all you do. Am watching this on my train ride home from work and laughed out loud watching you trying to get through that mud!!
Gorgeous gorgeous video as usual Abbie. There's something so magical about Lakeland. Watching this this morning has inspired me to book time off this summer so I can continue to explore that amazing part of the country.
From about 14:10 - did you think that speech about the Lakes through beforehand? Or was it purely inspired by the moment? One of your best ever pieces to camera! Thank you.
I was a few hours behind you that day, I bailed and went to Alcock Tarn from Nab Scarr. The day was amazing for the weather, and just being there makes me feel rich (I'm not!), no other feeling like it, when on a path knowing you're going up! Great video as always😀👍🏞🤘
Agree so much! When out in nature, it's the best time to let go all judgments. No competition (unless you're running a race I suppose!) and let all the self-incriminations drop away too. Just be! Lovely video. The green trees and hills look like a storybook!
What beautiful images, I love the Lake District! I'm currently in training to do part of the Coast to Coast, starting in the Lakes and maybe bagging a summit or two along the way.
Well that was a nice way to start the day! What a wonderful day out in the Lakes. This hike has been on my list forever and I really enjoyed the journey you took us on - I'll get to it one day... (I hear you about the parking. Ugh. I hate being rushed by a parking deadline! We have a few parks near Vancouver that have gates which are locked after hours and we've been caught having to race to get back to the car so we don't get locked in - or worse, trigger an unnecessary search.)
Why they can't have pay as you leave parking instead of upfront charges beats me. The technology is there and it makes it so much easier as you don't need to guess how much time you need or having to rush to meet a deadline.
Hi Abbie, greatly enjoyed video .. in ambleside seeking trail inspiration and decided to give the horseshoe a go based on your experiences .. scheduled to be sunny and 15 degrees tomorrow, can only hope I have same weather as you. Did get emotional when you shared your love of the great outdoors 👍
😁you nailed the weather Abbie, absolutely stunning! ❤ I'm from daan sarf so have only been to the lakes a few times as a child. You enjoy racing against the clock!? I hate it ...it makes me anxious, but not getting a ticket was one of those lovely small victories!✊ (Just popped in to say hello, as I'm watching your wonderful videos from the beginning ...what a journey!)
I was just thinking about it when you mentioned the Fairfield Horseshoe Fell Race! Many years ago I did it - got round in 2 hours 14 minutes (it sounds inconceivable to me, so Lord knows what it sounds like to anybody else!) and I was well at the back of the field! A couple of weeks ago we got to the top of Helvellyn - first walk up a mountain in nearly two and a half years and first with my newish artificial hip (performed magnificently - shame about the other bits of me that haven’t been replaced!). Very sore legs meant descent was slower than glacial but made it (eventually) and finished walking on fumes. Fortunately car was parked free, gratis and for nowt in a lay by, so no panic stricken dash to avoid a parking ticket! Which was just as well!
Hope you didn’t hurt at the big drop, because I watched your video, I walked anti clockwise, but still not easy, I was on my all fours at that section. Love your videos.
So much enjoyed this video, took me back to when we did this a number of years ago (in the reverse direction). You said in the video that you were planning some more Lake District walks, have you ever considered doing the Gable Traverse? It is a hugely interesting explore of the various crags and pinnacles on the south face of Great Gable, which I think you might find challenging!
After listening to how you feel about the Lake District, and nature in general, have you ever thought about moving there? I'm from Kent, and have just decided to move to Whitehaven, to be nearer to the Lakes for lots of adventure, and just a better quality of life! It also means Scotland isn't a massive drive away either 😊 All of our hobbies on the doorstep!
Damn, I was smiling through this whole thing. You got some of the best vibes! Even more excited than ever now after living in megacities since 2010, I'm utterly desperate for my trip there in a week or so! How difficult would you say it would get in rainy conditions (which I think it will be), given all that boggy stuff at the end? Better to avoid the horseshoe entirely in that case?
So long as you have clear visibility that's the main thing that's important. It's not always easy to navigate up on the flat hills! Wet feet is a byproduct of hiking sometimes 😂
Lovely walk as ever matey. Unsure if it's just me, but I'd love to see just a video of you walking/climbing back for your camera's after getting the shot 🤣🙌
Love these videos, really inspiring me for next years hiking. Not done any Lakes District walks yet, can't wait for the warmer weather to kick in next year. I've been using this year to get my fitness up(and my mental health back together). Any walks/areas on the more Southern side of the Lakes you would recommend Abbie? (10-20km is good for me)
Hi Abbie. great video as always, never been to the lakes before so this horseshoe route looks wonderful to do. advice please what is the name of the town or car park you started at? and i am hoping to camp at a campsite for the night....Much appreciated thankyou.
23:10 This is how I feel too. "Oh you use satellite navigation, not a map and compass" "We've been walking here for years" So what? I'm out here walking the same as you, what does it matter?
Hi Abbie , did you enjoy your stay in Derbyshire ? We checked into the same place you left in the morning. Our hostess was amazed that I knew your work.
Done this walk 4 times now. Just how the hell did they build that wall ? Those two vertical drops are awful to say the least. The wall will be there longer than any of us will be. Great video. I really enjoyed it.
Magnificent views but for someone coming from the country which didn't razed almost all of its forests to the ground - these hills and mountains look so heartbreakingly barren. It's like a enormous monument of destruction and unwillingness to share place with wildlife and Nature. That is probably the only thing that puts me off from visiting most of the places considered iconic in the UK.It's not the innocent beauty to me, but the land ravaged and left to die. I'm so happy some people start to understanding it and rewilding attempts start getting traction, namely in Scotlant.
The " walls"...Ever wonder who built those walls? Look across vallies to other high places and see walls going up or across those mountains and hills. How did it take? Who were the builders and why those walls?
“This feels like home for me… it feels so safe. So secure.” I hear you Abbie. Been meaning to do this walk for some time and can’t wait now. Love your videos! ⛰❤

I hear lots of positive talk about hiking but not many mention safe and secure and noware on earth makes me feel more safe and secure and connected to nature
That’s where my spirit dwells too
Your piece to camera at 22:44 hit home. It's exactly the reason why I'm out there too. Love it!
Greetings from America! Thanks for sharing another great day in the wild.
I like the way you describe Lake District:Land of pure innocent beauty…Spot on Abbie. It’s absolute bliss that Land is!
So much fun to see a video of a place I've been! I had a chuckle at your parking situation. My husband and I were there in 2019, and we parked somewhere near Rydal Water. A Lakekand classic Abbie and you did it justice. ATB Rod
You couldn’t have had better weather. Stunning views. Thanks for being real.
Yes! Been missing your videos - was delighted to see this
Brilliant trip , nice to see the blue sky.
Top tip. When you get back to Ambleside, order a pint in The Golden Rule. Then force yourself not to take a sip for five minutes. Doing this walk on Tuesday, can’t wait 😁😁😁
“Right Stick , you go and liberate yourself” 😂
Love your page. Inspiring me to make my first journey to the Lake District. Thank you.
Love your videos, they transport me to the great outdoors and that little bit of blue and green in your life is good for the soul. Thanks
keep up the good work Abbie love the views and the british countryside Cheers Glenn.
My kind of walk Abbie , thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful, fantastic views
incredibly beautiful
Skylarks are my favourite bird too. Just to hear one, makes me quite emotional (in a good way). You picked a beautiful day for the walk.
I think I've missed you - I'm there myself as of this Monday (28th). Great to get a glimpse of the place to remind me of what I have been missing.
Great Trip. Thank you for showing.
Absolutely love your passion for the lakes I feel exactly the same my happ place
Nice hike. We were in Ambleside on Saturday just gone.. October this year 23. It my birthday. So I wanted to be in Cumbria. Time away. And fresh air. Lake District really is beautiful. The fresh air u breath in is amazing.

Always use a compass and plan your route and know which direction to head in if the fog kicks in
Just come back from a week in the lakes staying on Ambleside. It’s my happy place for sure, I totally get what you mean about feeling safe and grounded. Great video as always 🥰 Stay Wild ⛰

Love what you said about unnecessary labels ❤️
Another great video Abbie, brings back many happy memories of times spent there in the past. Thanks
Absolutely brilliant 🤩
What a wonderful video, with spectacular views. Many thanks Abbie.

Another very enjoyable video Abbie. I really never knew there was so much beautiful countryside in the UK. Thank you for showing me more of it.
Dwayne
Remarkable hike. Great landscape.

Lovely - did that walk a few years ago (albeit rather more slowly!)… must return to the Lakes again at some point.
You are my greatest Inspiration 🥰👌
Great video Abbie
We did this walk 2 years ago and it's still our favorite hike
Great video ! i done that same walk ( in reverse to you low pike first ), and i too had a 6 hour race against the parking inspector.
Yay another video!Your walks are amazing like a breath of fresh air Abbie!Thank you ever so much.
Please may we have another Abbie and Anna show soon!
From about 14:10 - did you think that speech about the Lakes through beforehand? Or was it purely inspired by the moment? One of your best ever pieces to camera! Thank you.
Maybe your best vid yet Abbie.
Loved it, especially your narrative about LD and the feelings it brings you.
Carry on the great work girl .

Great Video as always.. love the narration that you do and voice over was very poetic 👍
Great video bordering on philosophy , looking forward to the next one.
No wonder you love that area, truly breathtaking,
And you got me at 12:47, hahaha!
Awesome, great new area Abbie. Definitely have to put this one on the Bucket list!.
Love it! You had the perfect weather too! I do love the Lake District, its such an incredible place. A great video Abbie, really enjoyed your hike. xx

Amazing vid, love it, and loved your message to all who love the outdoors no matter what your experience ❤

Top video. Proper walker.
One of my favourite walks around Ambleside. I always seem to get low cloud on the top though
You can clean the mud off, as long as the sun shines it wasn’t a wasted journey, I’ve not done the Fairfield horseshoe myself but one day, who knows
After listening to how you feel about the Lake District, and nature in general, have you ever thought about moving there?

You put a smile on my face.
Did you use the tripod with the canon camera for videoing? As I have a eos m50 mk2 mirrorless one but I usually use gopros for the video part on walks
What’s the soundtrack while you are up near Fairfield Pike? Great Video as are all of them. Keep going, cheers
Question:.Was it possible to drive your vehicle part way up to your destination?
Done this walk 4 times now. Just how the hell did they build that wall ? Those two vertical drops are awful to say the least. The wall will be there longer than any of us will be. Great video. I really enjoyed it.

Morning. Abbie. Watching cool
Cool
Hi Abby. How’s Anna and sog
Abbie, not sure if we walked passed you today 21/3 walking round Grasmere (lake). Had to do a double take. Was it you?
Yup 😎
@@AbbieBarnesWILD ah, wish I'd have said something more, we did say hi though. Love your you tube posts, inspiring!
The " walls"...Ever wonder who built those walls? Look across vallies to other high places and see walls going up or across those mountains and hills. How did it take? Who were the builders and why those walls?
That’s very pretty, I will add it to my ever expaning list. (i’m going to need to live to 100 to fit them all in at this rate)
What a shame you had to hurry. Hope you were not fined
Nope :)
This Co2 narrative is very odd indeed.
