In Conversation with Sir Chris Bonington | 4K
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with a true icon of British Mountaineering and legendary adventurer, Sir Chris Bonington.
Sir Chris, lives just 20 minutes away from my family home in Cumbria, so I popped up the road to his charming cottage in the Lake District National Park for a fireside chat.
I could have spoken to Sir Chris for hours but hope you enjoy watching this 30 minute conversation, covering just a few aspects of his incredible life and distinguished career in the mountains.
With special thanks to Anna Marchant and Frances Daltrey.

Having lived in London for 16 years, I've always wondered how possible it would be to do Paris in a day, so thought I'd satisfy my curiosity by jumping on the 8:01 Eurostar from London St. Pancras and returning on the 21:11 from Garde du Norde the same day, making it back home and in my own bed before midnight. I first visited New York in February 1997 when I was 13 years old. My parents booked us a holiday as a Christmas present. Going to New York was a dream trip. A Mell Fell Medley | Walking the Wainwrights | 4K

I recently headed out to hike the Mell Fell Medley on a very cold and frosty December day, covering 19.20 km with 784m elevation gain - in my fifth Wainwright circuit of 2023. @s13hgp I've already posted a reply to a previous comment and this is now the third. I wasn’t insensitive to this and there is a reason why I was wearing a hat, where it wasn't an issue on the day. It's frustrating this seems to be becoming a theme in people's take aways.

Given Chris’s experiences in life and being a man of the world I’m sure it wouldn’t have been of any concern to him someone wearing a hat for whatever the reason was, perhaps be thankful that the gentleman with the hat had the conversation with Sir Chris and shared it with us 🤷‍♂️ I must be getting old too.
