Dear Blue Note: PLEASE release these alternate takes of songs online in FLAC or in a CD boxset or something. Honestly you should just release soundboards of every one of his shows like jam bands do.
Julian's more recent work makes him like the Steph Curry of guitar - it sounds simple and beautiful that I almost fooled myself into thinking I can play this, till I listened a few more times and came to my senses.
Same!!!!! But honesty it is more approachable then most things in the genre I’ve attempted to pick up. Obviously lots of stuff I can’t work out but even the main riff is just so joyous to play! I get like Julian, laughing at the enjoyment of singing this little riff through the guitar.
That’s such a great point - his riffs are so singable - another one that I love in this vein is the beautiful riff for Splendor Riot, just a lovely figure in C major that I was obsessed with for days
Wow this song produces such an amazing feeling. I was coming back home on a flight yesterday and listening to this while flying in between the clouds felt like the perfect soundtrack for this song for some reason..
Also check out Goran Ivanović, especially his Trio album stuff. For example song Alvorada Americana. Brilliant composer and over the top good guitar player. Julian's stuff is truly amazing though.
@@socratesjackson6790 I know. I sort of laughed at that comment. I've had it from the very beginning, and I do play it often. Every day in fact, as it's that beautiful a record. Nothing beats seeing him live though, and I did so on this tour in NYC at venerable Town Hall. What a night.
Omission a warm tune with a modest structure that harks back to a simpler age in pop music and yet provides plenty of space and scaffolding for Mr. Lage to set the scene with relaxed yet flawless elegance and on which to inscribe his intricate acoustic improvisations. What is omitted? In the second section the harmony rises in aspiration only to pull back, not in resignation but in pensive affirmation. It is sufficient. Resolution is not required because there is no domination, no crisis. There is a strong urge among guitarists to try to assert our dominance, to call attention to whatever knowledge and technique we have achieved, to prove we can play, to commit sins of commision. Knowing what not to play is a virtue of omission.
You forgot to come to Michigan!!!!!! I wanted to bring my father to see you live. You, this band, this album, just incredible, thank you for tuner beautiful music you’ve brought to the world.
I had the pleasure of seeing Julian with Jorge here in Asheville recently and it was one of the most incredible concert experiences I've seen. Julian is certainly one of the greatest living guitarists, his touch and seeming ease of playing is second to none. If you have the opportunity to see him live, don't miss it.
Agreed! That must have been extra special. THe trio sat close to each other at the second stage at Newport in 2023 and didn't use the drum riser or wider stage, just sat up front and dropped a bunch of heartfelt goodness on everyone.
This is my first time hearing him and I just don't get it. I've played, performed and been around music my entire life, but this is painfully boring and uninspired. Should have named this Snoozefest.
I am amazed by the music you create and the amazing band that follows you on your journey. Such a treat for both ears and eyes! Thank you, Julian and everyone!
Wow that's the best. Can I know if the COLLINGS top used in this live performance is an Adirondack OM1A-JL or just OM1-JL?? I want to see this video and buy the same top
Why did they keep showing the back of the drummers orange CAP, vs, MOSTLY showing Julian's Hands or gutiar playing... So, this is just IGNORANT editing...... its beyond stupid., but the playing is great, even tho the camera direction is BS.

@BlueNote #BlueNote We would love to get this on cd or in other digi download format. Please!
For real. Every show is worth hearing.
Put on Nugs
I love how much Lage visibly enjoys playing. To me it communicates how we're all sharing in something beautiful.
And between him and Dave King, If I was onstage with them and they smiled at me, I would just melt.
Saw them in 2022 in Boulder. They were surprising each other with improv even that late in the tour it was a blast.

Favorite tune off the new album
It's my favorite also. I can't quite call it jazz though. It's more folk/Americana.
Hard to find guitar song like this anymore.. Thanks, Julian
LOVE LOVE LOVE Northern Shuffle and the new album, he´s always creating more and more and more magic
Just what we need...more "music" and not just prowess.
Wow this song produces such an amazing feeling. I was coming back home on a flight yesterday and listening to this while flying in between the clouds felt like the perfect soundtrack for this song for some reason..
He was fighting fiercely these last years to become my goat guitarrist, ok Julian, you won.
Not only goat, but actual music.
who was he up against?
@@spucclah8039 It was Lage, Adam Jones and Silvio Rodriguez.
never heard such a clean, full, acoustic guitar alongside drums like this
loved the studio take, now i'm really vibin with the magic here
Also check out Goran Ivanović, especially his Trio album stuff. For example song Alvorada Americana. Brilliant composer and over the top good guitar player.
Julian's stuff is truly amazing though.
there's something in this particular piece, that makes me smile yet at the same time makes me tear up a bit. definitely one of my favs
Well said
👏 Absolutely spectacular guys! Thank you for the jazz therapy.
this song has been on repeat these last few months, it's so beautiful! love to see a live performance of it.

I dropped in to say I loved your comment. Took me two-three takes to fully understand what you meant in the backdrop of this piece of art. Thank you
Thank you!

To the guy that asked a question and immediately blocked me so I can't see the rest of it. Yeah! That's exactly what I did.
@@christopherh4653You’re less than trash in comparison
No omissions here - just pure accoustic joy!
Bravo and Well Done Mr. Lage abd friends!! Looking forward to seeing you in Ohio again!!
I like this song a lot. Julian really is something special.

Takes to summer day in the mountains above tree line to an alpine meadow of wild flowers waist high.

I love this song; but did they not play it just a hint too fast there?

Solid playing, but painfully boring.
