00:00 _Familiar Flower_ 07:10 improvisation 12:18 _Emily_ (Mandel/Mercer) ...I have transcriptions of both songs on my website, for both *Guitar* and *Bass,* as *Sheet music* + *Tabs* + *Chords* :D
I've been buying Julian Lage's Play Like The Greats transcriptions for two years now and can confidently say my playing has gone up a notch thanks to his crazily accurate work. and it's just 5 dollars per song, what are y'all waiting for?!
I have been a fan of Julian Lage since I met him through Gary Burton's album "Generations", however I think that since he became involved in the world of John Zorn his talent exploded. In my opinion it was the best thing he could have done. I currently think that he is the most interesting guitarist to follow in the jazz world. Also Jorge Roeder and Kenny Wollesen are mindblowing.
I believe it is his Collings JL Signature Model 470, which is basically a design copy of the Gretch Duo Jet, but quite customized of course. The lighting makes the headstock impossible to see, but I'm pretty sure. I just saw one for sale on Reverb for just under 13 grand.
If there were a single camera person in the history of the world who understood how to record a guitarist, it would be amazing. Instead, they jump all over, taking wide shots, and focusing on the players posture and face. A camera person who knows music is important. With a virtuoso the the guitar should always be the main focus. Cut to bass and drums judiciously. Guitarists would love to see the brilliant guitarist play the guitar. Is that so wrong?
Lage always blows me away...The best improviser I have personally seen LIVE, any instrument...Ive said it many times and its still true.
Why do I hear a strong rockability sound made into amazing Jazz. Julian Lage is one of the best jazz guitarists in the world, right now!
Rockabilly flirting with jazz is common. Setzer built a career out of it with his orchestra.
And of all times
@@jbvart3974And from all univers..
It's the Telecaster....😂
@@XXjg_Its the guitar tone...😂

He is an open Channel and can play anything that comes to mind or heart or soul. The absolute best.
Of all time?! Or even current day? Not even close, he is pretty good though
Hearing Julian Lage playing an C major open chord shape is the most beautiful thing
I have been a fan of Julian Lage for many years, and I love that all his performances still surprise me. That is real improvisation, at its very best.
that improv was some of the best i've ever seen

the level of musicianship with this trio is stunningly fantastic
They’re no Green Day
Humble giants making beauty. This is good medicine for a troubled world. Drink deep for, timeless is most rare.
Damn, his playing is flawless.
This guy on the drums is insanely talented
Kenney Wollesen !
Julian Lage is a genius and humble jazz guitarist, love this performance ❤️👍
beautiful trio, love this performance
I hope we get a Julian Lage - Snarky Puppy collab i the near future, that would be dope!
Simply: WOW!!! Virtuoso experiences at the highest level possible. WOW!!
My favourite guitarist right. Never thought Guthrie would ousted at number 1 but here we are 😊
Oh, stop. Just stop.
@@tan-jello huh?

I'm just joking with you about Guthrie 😂
Kenny is on fire!
Significant tone difference from Julian’s tele. I almost like this better or just as much. Nice crunchy edge.
Musical genius
Brilliant as always.
Una belleza escchar a Julian Siempre
Unreal
Gracias por compartir este registro!!! 🥳
Greatness.
The Best
Julian might be as close as we'll get to knowing how Django might have played if he'd had the use of all his left hand fingers.
Thank you 😎
incredible show
🎉🎉❤❤
Who is this wonderful bassist who can hang with Julian Lage?
Jorge Roeder ;)
Hard Bop with a little hillbilly ❤
What model guitar is that?

Correct, the Collings JL470. Typically around $7,750 but hard to find on a store rack. :-)
No tele?
He’s playing his signature Collings guitar, modeled after an old Gretsch he had. Awesome sounding in his hands!
Awesome player, amazing band! But why have a mirror image thumbnail!?! 🤦♂He's not a lefty....
ジュリアン、コントロールつまみは一切触らないで音の表現するんだね。いやー上手すぎる。
Bela in the first song
His parents did a good job.
Whimsy is the new black.
If bill evans played guitar
He sounds a bit like Lenny Breau, just for a little while.
