  • Hi folks…welcome to MTS! A nice spring day to set up the old postwar layout in the garage. Starting off with the original Santa Fe 2333 F-3 AA sets along with the 6220 Bell Ringer Diesel Switcher purchased with the layout. Then running 3 different Alco AA sets featuring the Lionel Union Pacific 2023 50th anniversary set. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you down the line!

    The great thing about the vintage Lionel trains is that it was kid friendly and a child could set them up and operate them.

      Ya! Then they can get lead poisoning from the paint!😂

      @theLionelguy Lead paint and asbestos were everywhere up until the 80s.

      Then an adult should seek the help of a kid when setting up and operating Lionel trains. Nothing like vintage Lionel to bring back fond memories. Too bad kids today are buried in electronics and don’t use imagination.

    I have seen some insane layouts usuing the newest stuff amd exacting detail. Perfectly scaled layouts that boggle the mind, but here is the honest truth. Layouts like this? My favoorites. Simple and doesn't take it too seriously. It is the perfect reminder that layouts can be fun and exciting for anyone. Pure nostalgia.

    This is exactly what I’m trying to re-create. This is why Lionel postwar trains are still so treasure and collected after all of these years. Absolutely amazing! 😊

    That old wood for the framing makes this layout even better to me.

    I love the layout. It's an example of less technology can be a good thing. The sounds was what it was meant to be.

    Who doesn’t love the 2023, 2031, 2032, and 2033? Those gotta be the best value Lionel ever created. The 027 scale size fits where scale “O” don’t.

    Did you go back in time and get this layout? Because it looks like it was plucked straight out of a hobby shop in 1948. Great layout

    I`m just stating on a 6'X12' table, my first Marx Lionel layout of mostly prewar equipment.

    • @1940limited
      @1940limited Год назад

      6x12 is a good size. You should be able to get a lot on that platform.

    Hate to ask, but I'm dying to know if this 1948 circa layout was meant for a 4'x8' or a 5'x9' sized space?
    P.S. Nothing better than the "clickity-clack" sound of an old Lionel. 👍

      It’s actually an old ping pong table and measures 5x10. Thank you for your question.

    I'm thinking of building a Lionel layout, but I want realistic two rails tracks and more ties between the gaps. How easy is it to convert the engines?

    • @modeltrainsolutions7368
      @modeltrainsolutions7368  8 месяцев назад

      I haven’t had much experience converting 3 rail to 2 rail. However, MTH had a switch on certain models that would toggle from 3 rail to 2 rails. Then you would have to just remove the center rail pick up rollers. Thank you for your question.
