I have a workmate whose husband works for a power company up here in N-TX. Last week, he was in OK dealing with power outages - then he got the call over the weekend to go to Houston. So he drove 8 hours to your city to help get things up and going. Why am I telling you this? Because his wife got a video from him today of people cussing at him, throwing rocks and bottles at his crew members and having a hissy fit because someone brought these linemen some cold cut sandwiches. Really? Why? I understand the frustration and the heat, I spent two of the worst years of my life in Houston. I also understand that living on the coast means you better be ready to take care of yourself for a week or so while hard working linemen struggle to get your AC back on. These men sleep in their trucks because the hotels nearby are filled to capacity. They don't have the option of searching out a cooling station for some respite from the heat. And they don't see their families for weeks on end. So you want to throw things at these men, maybe make one of them lose their balance and fall into one of those power lines. Would that get your lights on faster? Shame, shame, shame on these folks who are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't find some way to help the others around them, especially the crews that are working 16 hours per day, trying to help Houston. BIG, BIG black eye for some of Houston!!!
well, I'd let them deal with it. I wouldn't help them with that attitude. There's something about Htown folks, their bad attitude is bigger than their need. No joke.
I’m so sorry to hear this! People knew to prepare for this ahead of time even if it didn’t hit. God sees their hearts and will have to answer for decisions made. Line men/women aren’t the problems! People need to realize they can’t work on an area if trees are covering it. It’s not their jobs to remove trees so maybe these citizens should help with removal.
As a Houston resident, I am so grateful for those that help us, and apologize on behalf of those that are ungrateful. It sickens me that people just want someone to shake their fist at and pass blame. It's a cat 1 hurricane, this is what always happens. It's why houses are slightly cheaper in the Houston metro than the other Texas metros
Around here we have signs that say do not travel when water is over the road. By the time a tow truck has your car out, a deputy is there to hand you a ticket.
So glad I left houston. They can't handle a category 1 hurricane. They never are prepared. Every year always a whoops. The flooding is never fixed. After that ice storm back in the days I called it quits with houston
Houston should already have flood gates !! Especially in summer time it's hurricane season and your next to gulf of Mexico warm waters cmon now problem is they put wrong people in mayor of cities
Do these Texans live in the stone age or what!? This is so incomprehensible to think their road engineers didn't think of this sooner! Prayers for all affected 🙏🙏
288 @ 610 has not been finished that long but it still floods. Why? Why wasn't that problem addressed when the engineering plans for the area updated to fix the flooding not just put in the tollway.
How about people quit being stupid & driving into low water areas. As I watched tv during the hurricane I saw people out driving even though mayor was begging people to get off the roads
The two crews that went down to help them from our rural electric. Turned around and have parked their trucks back into the maintenance yard. They are with their families. Suffer Houston.
houston needs some storm water pumps here in dallas they are building them and have some cause the trinity river flow next to the city and the levee is next to it cause dallas gets flooded when it storms bad the pump stations pumps 220,000 Gallons Per Minute of water that will help reduce flood risk in the city
Just look at the drivers in Houston that didn’t stop at the traffic light that were not working due to a hurricane they just ran the intersection They will just go around the barriers
Infrastructure is old and requires update Drainage system can’t keep up with couple inches of rain. Where are are people’s eyes ? We observe but no one listens to us 😊
I think tire spikes and railroad style gates. Some of these dummies will drive through them on their cell phones. There would also be an IQ test for a driver's license.
It's call having some sense, people need to stay home in these type of weather and not put our 1st responders life at risk. They should go out only for medical emergencies, not trying to rescue dumb people out of flooded cars. Tired of seeing that on TV, they choose to go out and drive, let them get out of the flood waters on their own. The orders should have been Stay at home Don't Drive.. but people don't listen
So you shouldn’t even try to minimize the suffering Houston and Texas need to do something this was a Cat 1 imagine a cat 3 or 4 or even worse a Cat 5.
GREG ABBOTT WAS NICE AND COZY, SO WHY ARE YOU CRYING, THE KING IS SAFE! 🤴 😅🎉 SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE A PUBLIC OFFICIAL PROBLEM ALL ACROSS AMERICA 🇺🇸 DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ALIKE!!!
Another city run by democrats for decades looking at the same problem and then saying something needs to be done. Solution. Vote for a real business like mayor and council who will focus on the city’s real problems. How long have these people in Houston government lived in Houston 😳. Did they just realize they are in the potential path of storms from the Gulf of Mexico?
Damn, Greg, don't stand so close to the road. All it takes is one distracted driver. Be safe.

On the other hand, today my light came on. Viola! What a blessing. I saw the trucks on the road and made sure to wave and give them multiple 👍👍👍
Sorry to hear. ❤️

Who drives down into an UNDERPASS when you can't see the pavement? Turn around, don't drown.
democrats do.
maga they are stupid.
@@jessesalinas8534seems more like a Republican trait. You know due to the generations of inbreeding and lack of proper education and whatnot

Same
very little traffic enforcement in Houston
So glad I left houston.

Liberal Democrats do not have any common sense
Common since isn't so common now a days my friend smh
@@rigogarza2974 everybody's on there cell phones in girls are combing their hair and putting makeup on while they're driving 😂
You're right, democrats have no common sense.
Lol😂 houston drivers alway believe they can floor the gas and make it to the other side.
Houston: Let's pour concrete everywhere, tell businesses to come to Houston, but have no drainage plan, like, ever.
Also Houston: It's flooding again!
Preach! It's been 7 years since Harvey, wtf are city leaders doing to protect people?
Close your eyes. Now tell me what you see.
@@DiabolikalFollikles Muthafvckn Nothin!
Seriously, this should have been done long before now...
UNLESS YOU NEW TO TOWN YOU KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM ALLEN PKWY. IT FLOODS IN EVERY RAIN. EVERY RAIN
Odd to call Memorial Drive at Shepherd “Southwest Houston” when it is due west of, and only a couple of miles from, Downtown.
Oh wait. Are we admitting it actually is getting worse?

no roads should be below grade in Houston
I notice Joel Olsteen's church is right there in the background. I don't suppose he could fork over some of his millions for some floodgates...
Oh no that corrupt bastard he wouldn't even let people into his mega church whenever there was a hurricane
How about building cars which can float and make them cheap? Amphibia Vehicles?
@@ProJoe-xb5iei wouldnt let democrats in either.
You’re joking right? The same nut who turned away Harvey survivors? seeking sanctuary? In his *church* ?

Hurricane Chris is right around the corner folks 👀
It’s about time!
I see Lakewood Church in the background, is Joel Olsteen ok?
Best Mayor we’ve had. Sadly the city council doesn’t seem interested in doing what’s right for the people. Just what’s right for their pockets.
This was a (dry) storm. Could you imagine if it dumps really heavy rains.
Thank you Sylvester Turner.
How about people quit being stupid & driving into low water areas. As I watched tv during the hurricane I saw people out driving even though mayor was begging people to get off the roads
Work on the stopping flooding....not toll roads.😮😮

We all know why people are driving their cars into flood waters...😂😅
Why they didn't declare the area as natural disaster area
