It is an embarrassment if Cat 1 storms cause a lot of damage aside from flooding. The power system cutting off millions is third world standard which I experienced in banana republic hurricane. I have been through many hurricanes and never had damage to my properties because of the construction and prep.

Even with mild temperatures 45° - 60° the powergrid fails. Power outages Texas. But it seems for majority of Texans & the crippled Governor infrastructure is not a priority

Grid power is no longer reliable at all in this area... it's past time to start lining roofs with solar panels people! Every single home needs to be as near to 100% independent from outside utilities as possible, because we cannot depend on those outside utilities to work anymore. Just saying. If you had a roof covered in solar today and an inverter heat pump to cool your house, you would have an air conditioned house today instead you are beginning to swelter in the intense summer sun instead! The way we been building out homes and powering them, just doesn't work well anymore. 😞

Just get a stand by generator. Its way cheaper than solar. Solar is useless unless you have batteries. So many people don't know this.

These people should quit their job. We were on vacation in Galveston and Houston leading up to Sunday right before the storm. They did a terrible job keeping the community advised of the catastrophe they were facing. Now look at them here to point at all the suffering and damage. How they sleep at night is beyond me.
