And then, you really dig deep into the other stuff going on from that era-Hum, Failure, anything indie (MBV, Pavement)…God, music is an endless, beautiful scavenger hunt (as I always say).
This album was played religiously on my Sony Walkman CD player before school everyday my senior year. One of my favorite bands from back then! Cheers to the late 90s, miss those days!🍻
I saw Bush, Hum, and Toadies. I've seen a lot. This was a high light.
2019 and this band still has not got the credit they deserve
Most underrated band of the 90s
Man how time flies. I was 20 when this came out. Me and my friends couldn't stop listening to it all summer. What a great time and album!
I can't even put into words how much I love this album. Meantime by Helmet, Aenima by Tool, and You'd Prefer An Astronaut are the three best albums of the 90s.
Betty By Helmet is also quite brilliant
@@kanedasrifle Helmet had a run of incredible albums back in the 90s. Meantime, Betty, and Aftertaste are all fucking spectacular.
@@brodieyake7735 Speechless blew my mind recently when it appeared on my playlist, wasn't even a single, what a fuckin tune dude.
One of the anthems of my youth. 25 years later and I still love it. That's gotta be worth something. Hum, wherever you are: Thank you.
Bought this record a couple weeks after it came out. Listened to it so much.
Been a fan since the beginning...I'm 40 and when I listen to him I feel like I'm with 5 friends rolling deep in a fat 76 Lincoln continental ... obviously up to no good
Love this band! Greetings from. Uruguay 🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾
@ 50+ yrs old, still love this band!
That's so cool how they transition to the acoustic at the end.
“I thought she’d be there holding daisies, she always waits for me.”
2023 HUM songs are still bangers !!’
i’m still in shock. i can’t believe he’s gone. R.I.P Bryan St. Pere.
😞
Love how this songs fades out acoustically
There are people like you that knew this was the most underrated band ever. My opinion.
now we know where deftones got their such good guitar tone
Fender Prodigy
She had the wildest bright ideas.... everyone would sleep away until the nightmare ends....
Saw these dudes in Buffalo Ny,97?..loudest band I ever saw live..it was great..The power of sound they made was ya know.. awesome...
Rest in peace, Bryan St. Pere.
Seen these guys in belleville Illinois my home town back in 96 97??small venue...was a fan from the first time I heard them.....was on a road trip and found this tape at a little record store in Peoria il....this album brings back some of the best days of my life
RIP Bryan St. Pete. Such a great drummer we lost.
😔
Cracked drummer
The guitar at the end!!! Wow
Lyrics: (Corrected)
Morning scatters in and I am steady like a drug
Feeling out this one
She wakes up smashed as hell and steadies her ass against the rail
And bends before the pounding rain
She had the widest bright ideas all along about my love
And I need this fucking fix and I beg her to pick from
One of a million ways to feel no pain
The morning after bends reflected in and I can hardly stand
The way this whole thing makes me seem
She climbs out from a dream with lungs hardening
She screams a stereo scream
And bends before astounding rain
She's got a system made of metal with magnet bits inside her brain
She opens her box of tricks and begs me to pick from
One of a billion ways to feel no pain
She had the widest bright ideas
That all the world would sleep away until the nightmare ends
Everyone is on
Wait
Wait on the end
Hold me up tight, let me breathe now
She had the widest bright ideas
That all the world would sleep away until the nightmare ends
Everyone is on
Wait
Wait on the end
Hold me up right, let me breathe now!!!!!
I’ll be 40 soon. I remember hearing them first in 8th grade. Changed my perception of what rock was. Long live Hum
Hum, Texas is the Reason and Helmet most underrated and unappreciated bands from the 90s. Love these guys.
Dang, they just tear it up on this track! Love it!
This band was at least 7-10 years ahead of their time.
How is that? They were really great. But their sound was VERY MUCH of its time.
@Mike: With all respect, I totally disagree. The weird thing is that they were so spot on, but didn't get their time in the spotlight anyway. I mean, Pumpkins sold millions and millions of albums, while these guys somehow stayed under the radar. HUM is an alt.rock mystery!
Absolutely! I remember and loved them then too!
I fucking love 90s music videos man, no matter the genre.
Hum is great and are generally regarded by everyone who knows them as a musically adept band who released very creative material that still stands the test of time.
Best garage band ever discovered - I love this album.
Hum is one of my favorite bands can't go a day without one of their songs going through my head
This band is criminally underrated it's not fair
Remember when you could turn on rock radio and all the bands were good and super innovative? Man I miss those days.
They are an underrated band. Who knows why! They make alot of sense to me with what they do. And Inlets is great. It seems to pick up right where Downward left off. An unmistakable sound! Love it!!!!
Took me almost 25 years to finally see them live and its probably the best concert I'd ever attended, and there's been a shit ton. 🙏
I saw them back in 98. I am sad jealous of my younger self.
Seriously. These Guys changed my life, and perception of Music. They should be HUGE!!!!
They are so underrated.
God that fucking reverse guitar shit at the start gets me going, so fucking good man
Im 99 years old and still rock out to this one!
This song is sick. Zilla is a gonna murder this beat
