Tomorrow will be 4 years exactly since I quit drinking. I was a daily drinker. I have since lost 73.8 pounds. I'm now only 1.2 pounds above the center of the "normal weight range" of the Body Mass Index (BMI) scale, which is a very tough standard to reach.
Alcohol sucks, it's one of the worst drugs:
    * It has sugar in it (beer & wine anyway),
    * The ethanol converts to sugar on top of that,
    * You sit on your ass doing nothing except staring at a screen while you're drinking. A T.V., an Xbox, a PC, a phone, zero movement so no calories burned,
    * Then when you're drunk, you crave comfort foods, so greases & sugars, crap foods followed by junk food snacks.
    * Then you lose sleep getting up to pee 4 times.
    * Then when your liver is done working itself to death at 3am metabolizing & eliminating the alcohol, it has to partiality wake you back up so it can get back to cleaning the backlog of toxins that built up in your blood since you started drinking at 5pm. That prevents you from entering levels 3 & 4 of your 4 sleep cycles. So you think you're sleeping, but it's crappy sleep the 2nd half of the night.
    * So you wake up grumpy, have a lousy day, then that puts you in a bad mood wanting to drink again the next night.
I did this to myself daily from 1999 to 2020.
I'm lucky I'm still alive. What saved me is I only usually drank 8 to 10 beers a night (maintenance drinker).
I don't miss it not one bit!
    Alcohol sucks!!!!
    Congratulations on your sobriety.
