19:45 What We Have Learned and What's Next
We will start by showing you how to form Korean syllables with consonants and vertical vowels, such as ㅏ and ㅑ. You'll see how these vowels are placed next to the consonants. Then, we'll move on to combining consonants with horizontal vowels, such as ㅗ and ㅜ, where the vowels are placed below the consonants. By practicing these combinations, you will understand the basic structure of Korean syllables.
We'll provide examples to illustrate how to combine consonants and vowels, like how ㄴ and ㅏ combine to form 나, and how ㄷ and ㅗ combine to form 도. These examples will help you see the patterns and get used to the structure of Korean syllables.
Additionally, we will explain some basic pronunciation rules and tips to help you pronounce these combinations correctly. For instance, we will discuss how the pronunciation of certain consonants changes depending on their position in a word, such as ㄱ being pronounced more strongly like a 'k' when it is the first consonant in a word.
By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to form and pronounce simple Korean syllables confidently. Practice along with us to reinforce your learning and improve your pronunciation. Understanding these basic combinations is crucial as it forms the foundation for more complex syllable structures, which we will cover in future lessons.
