There are three sets of rules for 르-ending words:

      Hey, thank you so much for watching and for your comment! In this series on Pronunciation Exception Rules for Hangul, we focus on learning the sounds and how they combine when specific sounds meet. The words we choose for these lessons are selected based on the Hangul rules we need to teach for maximum learning effect, so they might not be practical to learn, especially at the beginning. We initially wanted to start the Korean for Beginners playlist already but got delayed. The first videos will be published in the middle of this month. In that playlist, you'll learn vocabulary, grammar, and how to actually speak Korean. We hope that helps. If you have any further questions or if there's anything we can assist you with while learning Korean, please let us know. We're happy to help. All the best, Hyunok and Gerhard

    wonderful video. i noticed in kdramas and korean variety shows, when people say things like annyeonghaseyo, the yo part is pronounced similar to the korean' eo ' which confused me. is there any way to identify between them in native speech? thank youu!!

    • @k-jang
      @k-jang Месяц назад

      Thank you so much for your kind words! We are very happy you enjoyed the lesson. You are absolutely right. In Korean, the last vowel in "annyeonghaseyo" (안녕하세요) can indeed sound a bit like "eo" instead of the written "o." It’s very attentive of you to notice! The vowel is supposed to be ㅗ. In practice, it often sounds more like a more centralized vowel sound between ㅗ and ㅓ, which can come across as closer to ㅓ, especially in informal speech or different dialects. Koreans don't perceive it as a pure ㅓ, but it can be subtle and hard to distinguish in native speech. With more practice, you'll develop a better feel for these sounds but there is no exact way to identify between them. With vocabulary practice, however, you will also learn and memorize how certain words are spelled. I wouldn't worry too much, especially at the beginning. It kind of happens automatically. I am sure you are familiar with the difference already but the vowels 'ㅓ' (eo) and 'ㅗ' (o) can be tricky to differentiate at first. In our first lesson on basic vowels, we compare these two sounds: ruclips.net/video/iYE3dXlmI4I/видео.html As you continue learning and understanding the different mouth shapes for these vowels, you'll soon be able to distinguish them more easily. At first, it can be challenging because while these vowels exist in many languages, most don’t consciously differentiate them. I hope this answer helps you. If you need further clarification or have more questions, we are here to help. All the best, Hyunok and Gerhard

    • @k-jang
      @k-jang Месяц назад

      You're exactly right, it’s about context and sentence structure! We're super happy our video gave you a thorough understanding of the Korean concept of Batchim. When speaking, context and the structure of the sentence with the particles usually clarify the meaning. Don’t worry, you'll figure it out as you learn more vocabulary. Most learners don’t even notice this could be an issue, so your question is excellent. Keep practicing, and it will become second nature! Thanks you for your question. • @k-jang
      @k-jang Месяц назад

      Hello Elijah, It's wonderful to see that you are still learning with us, and we are so happy to know that you have been enjoying the lessons. Congratulations on finishing this series on the Korean Alphabet! You did a fantastic job with your name! Often, there are several possible ways to write names in Hangul. While I'm not entirely sure about the exact pronunciation of your name, I think that 엘라이자 or 일라이자 could be more accurate versions. This is because the ㄹ as the initial consonant of a syllable is pronounced as "r" and not "l". However, when two ㄹ meet, both are pronounced as "l". We’ll be covering this in more detail in tomorrow’s lesson on the pronunciation of ㄹ: ruclips.net/video/XqSgkwXUv-4/видео.html We wish you a lot of success and fun learning Korean. For the next three weeks, we'll be publishing pronunciation rules, but then we'll start the Korean for Beginners playlist. Happy learning!

      Hey, thank you so much for watching and for your comment! In this series on the Korean Alphabet, we focus on learning the sounds and how to combine them into syllables and words. The words we choose for these lessons are selected based on the Hangeul rules we need to teach for maximum learning effect, so they might not be the first words you should learn. We'll finish this series by the end of the week. After that, we'll release a playlist with 13 videos on pronunciation exceptions to help you master the exact sounds. By the beginning of August, we plan to start the Korean for Beginners playlist, where you'll learn vocabulary, grammar, and how to actually speak Korean. We hope that helps. If you have any further questions or if there's anything we can assist you with while learning Korean, please let us know. We're happy to help. All the best, Hyunok and Gerhard
