Ive been laid off quite a bit in my life most considerately 4 times already and I hate it at the end of the day though it’s immature asshole bosses for the reason of letting someone go that fast.
I just lost my job of 15yrs and when my ex boss told me I felt a lot of cancer cells jog right out of my body,,,,,I have a big emergency fund due to good clean Christian living, and fugle living,,,made lots of sacrifices. I am going through that too. I just lost my job today for something that wasn't even my fault. I wish life was easier. I have no where to go. I have an apartment but am not allowed a roommate. So losing anything isn't an option. I hope things get better for you.I know what it's like. Just keep working and save your money for a deposit and I am sure eventually soon you'll get a new place. I'm sympathetic, however, part of me also questions how you didn't save ANY money in 10yrs from a 62k/year job? How many kids do you have? Are you getting child support? Where's the dad? Why did you have kids? Why did you get divorced or break up? What were you spending your money on? Surely you could've saved at least 10k per year. That's being generous. Depending on how many kids you have, you could've saved more. I'm a chronic saver, but even after losing my job recently, I regret some stupid things I spent my money on. Even though it's okay to splurge a little, but sometimes you impulsively spend money and that's what I did. Oh well, I gotta brush it off. But I'd definitely rethink my spending habits if I were you. If you can't save even 10% of your income, I habe to question your spending habits. 62k is quite a good income and should realistically give you a good savings. Especially after 10 years. I mean, the general rule is save 20% of your income, which would be $12,400. And in 10 years you would have 100k saved up plus any interest from investing. I can't imagine 62k wasn't enough unless you had like more than 2 kids. I don't have kids, so I've never budgeted for them, but I can't imagine 1 kid would break you on 62k. And if you have multiple kids and the father isn't around, then I've got to question your life decisions. Unless the father died, then there's no fault of your own. But finances are the #1 reason for divorce. So maybe try to take this time to self-reflect.

Just lost my job. I’m not sad that I lost it, I’m more afraid. I’m not sure what’s even next. It seems very empty. I feel lost and don’t know what inspires me at the moment. That job isn’t something I wanted to even do my whole life. I’ve been with the company for 3 years and it’s been draining me. I’m happy that I’m free but what’s my purpose? Sometimes it takes a few days, or even weeks to reset & find your balance again. Personally I think recognizing you're shell shocked let's you keep calm & not stress yourself out more than needed. Depending on your age - you should probably cut expenses & pick your next job based more on what keeps you interested & motivated (rather than just whatever gives the best paycheck). Your intuition will guide you back to your natural destined path (imo).

Most people are going to waste this time, become less productive, and wonder why their lives continue getting worse... It's very sad. In reality, almost everybody is a slave to something that someone else built. Almost nobody is building something valuable for themselves and others... Drowning in entertainment, pissed off they're not achieving their dreams... My job did me a favor, they knew I was miserable and let me go. I get a final paycheck and get unemployment. I am done teaching and can't wait to figure out my next career path. I also will be spending more time with family since I am moving out of the state I also hated.

If you've got your health, your mind, and some love in your life -- you've got everything you need to change the world (let alone the number in your bank account!). some insight for you, I was homeless at the wake of the pandemic lived in my car rotating from from motel to motel when I had the money. BUT, i had just got my car so to me it was better than being actually homeless which I had also been. no matter what if you have the will to go another day you figure it out. saw your comment and felt like i had to share that with you...

I hope you get a job soon, I know how feel because getting laid off sucks, take my advice, when you fill out an application don't write down the name of a place you got fired/ laid off, lie if you have to, if you write down the name of a place you got fired/ laid off chances are the managers will contact that and ask your old boss why you got fired/ laid off, don't take th@ chance, just pretend that work place never existed.

If you’re 55 or over, you can take advantage of the age 55 rule which allows you to take money out of your 401K without penalty if you’re terminated or resign but the money has to stay in that plan. If you move it, you no longer have that option. So weigh all of your options before rolling your 401K and don’t take a 100 percent payout because you’ll have to pay taxes on that money in that year. It would be better to take a fixed amount out monthly. Be smart and fully informed. I just learned today that I will be downsized after 32 years of dedicated service. I’m hurt but I’m strong and I know I will be ok. I’m looking at this as freeing up my future to find a more favorable employment situation.

I joined a new company recently for high salary and better designation. I feel that My last job was more secure than my current job. It's been 3 weeks since I have joined this company, and I feel I made bad decision of joining this one. With Corona virus situation, the business is low and my new company may consider firing people. I am scared that it could happen to me...I am in lots of stress.
Exactly what happen to me last year. I joined the new company because of the location, higher salary & better designation but unfortunately I was forced to resign by my (shitty) superior & HR. I really regret making that decision. I am still jobless until now & it’s really demotivating to me. I have so many employment gaps in my resume.

Just got fired from my city job on Friday 9/9/22 after my shift and don’t really know the real reason outside of some made of bull crap I think they’ve been cooking up for awhile, because I was Vocal about things I get wasn’t right. I feel like it was a set up, I’m honestly not as mad as I should be but I have two kids and hella bills every month. I was working as a labor for almost 3 years, hard back breaking job. I felt very unappreciated and now I don’t have any skills at the moment. Not sure what I’m going to do outside of apply for unemployment. I’ve prayed a lot and now trying to figure things out, this is definitely something new and different in my life, may God be with me.
Thing is im scared, I have plenty of money saved for basic expenses. But I dont have any talent or passion in anything. I dont have a vision of who I want to be or aspire at. My job was pretty good with benefits. I was happy there. Now on top of lack of reliable transportation ( I dont have a car, only local buses) my ability to reach out and file for job applications are limited and difficult. I feel so helpless and pathetic, I always worked hard at my job and now ive been discarded. I dont know what to do other than to hope that whatever powers made this happen make things play for the better. Doesn't seem likely though. Thanks for the advice

Haha thanks on the shirt :) I think right now leveraging 3PL is still a huge advantage for newbies (outsourcing fulfillment). You've almost got to start there if you don't want to spend a ton on inventory starting out. I still don't play with dropshipping much (I offer it out of my warehouses, but I don't use it to ship products myself), but there are places it makes sense. There are some circumstances where it makes sense. For instance, if there is NO competition, then it's not a huge disadvantage. I just bought this thing called a Whoop Band that was dropshipped from china -- most Apple products are dropshipped from China... But when starting a business, I don't like dropshipping as much. I know a few guys making stupid money with it -- so I know it's still possible. I'll try to pool some knowledge and shoot a video ;)

I’m in the UK and was dismissed from my job back in November 21 after working in a care home as an administrator for 20 years. Been living off my savings but now need to find work, not getting far from online applications. Can I say the importance of savings for those periods when your either dismissed or need to leave your job, it’s affirmed for me that once I find work I will save again and this will be my main reason. Since I’ve been dismissed I’ve discovered that we don’t have to suffer at any work place as long as you have savings for several months you will be okay.

I just got fired a week ago, but they want me to stay until the end of July. I messed up a couple of things because I'll admit that I'm not the most detail oriented. And I haven't gotten sufficient sleep lately. (Chronic illnesses. Lots of pain. Have to get up early for a 90 minute commute. Ended up requesting work from home part of the week). Not an excuse. Just figuring out what went wrong. Not sure the next steps to take. Grateful that I have several weeks to figure it out.

Have tried to apply for state aid and haven’t heard anything back, we have been filing for unemployment, I don’t work either and my parents are stubborn so they don’t ask family for help (plus we don’t get along with family very much anyway) I feel like we are running out of moneys and time and I’m so scared of us becoming homeless.
I just got laid off yesterday, they just told me the day of I would no longer be an employee of the company. I think it was for the better as my personal goals don't align with what I was doing. I am getting a decent severance package on payroll still for 2 months and getting paid for 9.5 vacation days and gonna sign up for COBRA. My coworkers seem to care more about them laying me off than I do. My mgmt really liked me and had no clue about who the company decided to layoff and my whole team thinks it was a mistake on the company's part. I now get alot of time and freedom back. I am now going to build up my side hustle before I get right back into the job search.

You need to call them to figure out what is taking so long. You cannot sit around and wait for things to happen there is so much lagging behind right now in 2020 due to the pandemic so if you don’t hear anything or get anything in the mail you need to be actively calling.

Get a message through to him & pull his heart strings. Guilt is often the best motivator. And unfortunately in most companies - the squeaky wheel gets the oil... You could get a lawyer or something, but I'd do more research on if you have any actual claim before doing so.

Absolute chaos out there -- lots of money to be made though, so we've got to keep pushing and working. Now are the times where big changes in your destiny are almost guaranteed -- you've got to get in control of that...

Write your congressman to make a bill for a mandatory 5 year severance for any company that did not need to layoff, but did it for good stock prices. If they have billions upon billions in net profits and hoards of billions in corporate coffers, then this is completely unnecessary. Make these companies accountable.

I am going through that too. I just lost my job today for something that wasn't even my fault. I wish life was easier. I have no where to go. I have an apartment but am not allowed a roommate. I'm sympathetic, however, part of me also questions how you didn't save ANY money in 10yrs from a 62k/year job? How many kids do you have? Are you getting child support? Where's the dad? Why did you have kids? Why did you get divorced or break up? What were you spending your money on? Surely you could've saved at least 10k per year. That's being generous. Depending on how many kids you have, you could've saved more.
I'm a chronic saver, but even after losing my job recently, I regret some stupid things I spent my money on. Even though it's okay to splurge a little, but sometimes you impulsively spend money and that's what I did. Oh well, I gotta brush it off. But I'd definitely rethink my spending habits if I were you. If you can't save even 10% of your income, I habe to question your spending habits. 62k is quite a good income and should realistically give you a good savings. Especially after 10 years. I mean, the general rule is save 20% of your income, which would be $12,400. And in 10 years you would have 100k saved up plus any interest from investing. I can't imagine 62k wasn't enough unless you had like more than 2 kids. I don't have kids, so I've never budgeted for them, but I can't imagine 1 kid would break you on 62k. And if you have multiple kids and the father isn't around, then I've got to question your life decisions. Unless the father died, then there's no fault of your own. But finances are the #1 reason for divorce. So maybe try to take this time to self-reflect.

Just lost my job. I’m not sad that I lost it, I’m more afraid. I’m not sure what’s even next. It seems very empty. I feel lost and don’t know what inspires me at the moment. Sometimes it takes a few days, or even weeks to reset & find your balance again. Personally I think recognizing you're shell shocked let's you keep calm & not stress yourself out more than needed. Depending on your age - you should probably cut expenses & pick your next job based more on what keeps you interested & motivated (rather than just whatever gives the best paycheck). Your intuition will guide you back to your natural destined path (imo).

This is literally my exact reality.
My job did me a favor, they knew I was miserable and let me go. I get a final paycheck and get unemployment. I am done teaching and can't wait to figure out my next career path. I also will be spending more time with family since I am moving out of the state I also hated.
Man I lost my job a couple years ago . Now I’ve been at Comau as a mechanical builder making triple the amount I was making .
Watching this just recently layed off from job and now living in my car, which is sobering and motivating at the same time

I hope you get a job soon, I know how feel because getting laid off sucks, take my advice, when you fill out an application don't write down the name of a place you got fired/ laid off, lie if you have to, if you write down the name of a place you got fired/ laid off chances are the managers will contact that and ask your old boss why you got fired/ laid off, don't take th@ chance, just pretend that work place never existed.

If you’re 55 or over, you can take advantage of the age 55 rule which allows you to take money out of your 401K without penalty if you’re terminated or resign but the money has to stay in that plan. If you move it, you no longer have that option. So weigh all of your options before rolling your 401K and don’t take a 100 percent payout because you’ll have to pay taxes on that money in that year. It would be better to take a fixed amount out monthly. Be smart and fully informed. I just learned today that I will be downsized after 32 years of dedicated service. I’m hurt but I’m strong and I know I will be ok. I’m looking at this as freeing up my future to find a more favorable employment situation.

Exactly what happen to me last year. I joined the new company because of the location, higher salary & better designation but unfortunately I was forced to resign by my (shitty) superior & HR. I really regret making that decision. I am still jobless until now & it’s really demotivating to me. I have so many employment gaps in my resume.

Just got fired from my city job on Friday 9/9/22 after my shift and don’t really know the real reason outside of some made of bull crap I think they’ve been cooking up for awhile, because I was Vocal about things I get wasn’t right. I feel like it was a set up, I’m honestly not as mad as I should be but I have two kids and hella bills every month. I was working as a labor for almost 3 years, hard back breaking job. I felt very unappreciated and now I don’t have any skills at the moment. Not sure what I’m going to do outside of apply for unemployment. I’ve prayed a lot and now trying to figure things out, this is definitely something new and different in my life, may God be with me.

Thing is im scared, I have plenty of money saved for basic expenses. But I dont have any talent or passion in anything. I dont have a vision of who I want to be or aspire at. My job was pretty good with benefits. I was happy there. Now on top of lack of reliable transportation ( I dont have a car, only local buses) my ability to reach out and file for job applications are limited and difficult. I feel so helpless and pathetic, I always worked hard at my job and now ive been discarded. I dont know what to do other than to hope that whatever powers made this happen make things play for the better. Doesn't seem likely though. Thanks for the advice

I think right now leveraging 3PL is still a huge advantage for newbies (outsourcing fulfillment). You've almost got to start there if you don't want to spend a ton on inventory starting out.
I still don't play with dropshipping much (I offer it out of my warehouses, but I don't use it to ship products myself), but there are places it makes sense. There are some circumstances where it makes sense. For instance, if there is NO competition, then it's not a huge disadvantage. I just bought this thing called a Whoop Band that was dropshipped from china -- most Apple products are dropshipped from China...
But when starting a business, I don't like dropshipping as much. I know a few guys making stupid money with it -- so I know it's still possible. I'll try to pool some knowledge and shoot a video ;)

Here's what not to do when you fill out a job application : never write down the name of a place you got fired or laid off work, just pretend that place doesn't exist, because that's what I did.And it does get better.

I’m in the UK and was dismissed from my job back in November 21 after working in a care home as an administrator for 20 years. Been living off my savings but now need to find work, not getting far from online applications. Can I say the importance of savings for those periods when your either dismissed or need to leave your job, it’s affirmed for me that once I find work I will save again and this will be my main reason. Since I’ve been dismissed I’ve discovered that we don’t have to suffer at any work place as long as you have savings for several months you will be okay.

I just got fired a week ago, but they want me to stay until the end of July. I messed up a couple of things because I'll admit that I'm not the most detail oriented. And I haven't gotten sufficient sleep lately. (Chronic illnesses. Lots of pain. Have to get up early for a 90 minute commute. Ended up requesting work from home part of the week). Not an excuse. Just figuring out what went wrong. Not sure the next steps to take. Grateful that I have several weeks to figure it out.
Really unusual to have them keep you on til the end of July, so at least you'll have a softer landing than most! Use it as an opportunity to make some big things happen - many magical things have been built and/or achieved in 90-days or less ;) Good luck & don't let yourself get negative! Really trying to find things as a senior in high school school with a mom who doesn’t work to be a stay at home mom, a dad who just got laid off, a 10 year old clueless brother, a car that just broke down literally today and we think for good and making no money. Have tried to apply for state aid and haven’t heard anything back, we have been filing for unemployment, I don’t work either and my parents are stubborn so they don’t ask family for help (plus we don’t get along with family very much anyway) I feel like we are running out of moneys and time and I’m so scared of us becoming homeless.

I just got laid off yesterday, they just told me the day of I would no longer be an employee of the company. I think it was for the better as my personal goals don't align with what I was doing. I am getting a decent severance package on payroll still for 2 months and getting paid for 9.5 vacation days and gonna sign up for COBRA. My coworkers seem to care more about them laying me off than I do. My mgmt really liked me and had no clue about who the company decided to layoff and my whole team thinks it was a mistake on the company's part. I now get alot of time and freedom back. I am now going to build up my side hustle before I get right back into the job search.

You need to call them to figure out what is taking so long. You cannot sit around and wait for things to happen there is so much lagging behind right now in 2020 due to the pandemic so if you don’t hear anything or get anything in the mail you need to be actively calling.

In sales you are always fired. So what. Been fired dozens of times when I was in my 20s. Having said that, I’m 48 and was fired last month. It’s a lot different when you are older. Stings more. I making $135,000 year and living well to my own standards. Working for start up bio firms is always risky but funding is getting seriously yanked. Sucks having niche skills when shit gets pulled
Write your congressman to make a bill for a mandatory 5 year severance for any company that did not need to layoff, but did it for good stock prices. If they have billions upon billions in net profits and hoards of billions in corporate coffers, then this is completely unnecessary. Make these companies accountable.
