    Things that could have been added in this retrospective :
    - Hector mode and it's hard mode + it's point of view perspective.
    - The gaiden chapter this FE offers
    - Reference to FE6 characters (On the dessert chapter , if you visit a house , you might see Fae)

      @@samikshaavhad4868 Man this comes late, but I actually did not attack her on my first playthrough because of two reasons:
      1. The objective was survive and since this was like my second FE game I did not bother trying to go against the objective.
      2. I took one look at her stats and thought: Nope. Not fighting her. To much trouble.
      So I guess these are the hints. But also not giving a hint is also fine in my eyes, because it puts weight on the choices someone makes. Also you have like two to four flying units at that point so it is not a total loss at least.

    I cannot stand the obsession with “new for the sake of new” that permeates so many fandoms now, purely because people either can’t hold their attention to a franchise for some reason or simply can’t recognise when they’ve simply had their fill.
    It’s the reason why people keep obsessing over Pokemon changing when all it ever needed was to provide a new well designed adventure with quality of life updates each time. And this naturally lead to gen 9’s incredibly disastrous release state.

    My thoughts on Fe 7: I would actually argue it’s the best game to start out with. For the reason being it’s simply to understand and there’s no skills or anything too complex. Hector hard mode gives a pretty good challenge without it being cheap. While yes you can absolutely cheese this game with Marcus, the game doesn’t really expect first time players to do that or any mad LTC strats. As far as plot goes to be honest: It’s definitely not the best and it has it’s glaring problems, but the cast of characters and (mostly) sympathetic villains more than make up for it. However one of my biggest complaints on this game is Lyn just her entire existence just frustrates me to no end. Mostly because she’s not in Fe 6 anything she does or any development she gets just feels wasted and honestly the game would be better off without her and she’s also really boring as a character(her gameplay doesn’t help her case either). Don’t even get my started on the shipping wars. I still must say with all that in mind it’s still a really fun and enjoyable game. Overall I give it 7/10

    I also never understood why people did the whole "planning support pairs" in the GBA Emblem games. I never cared for it. I mainly did Support when I found out that certain units had Paired Endings. My all time favorite pairs in the GBA Emblem 7 are:
    Hector/Lynn or Florina or Farina
    Eliwood/Ninian - the only pair I consider "canon"
    Sain/Fiora
    Erk/Serra
    Guy/Priscilla or Erk/Priscilla
    Lucius/Raven

    This question isn't related to this video, but I was curious about something in Fire Emblem 5. What did you think when August was telling Leif about Seliph and August said that people were working to turn Seliph into the hero he has become? I'm asking because Seliph being setup to succeed by certain powerful people was one of your critiques of generation 2's story.
    Obviously, I'm not trying to say that them acknowledging a weakness in the prior game's story therefore fixes that weakness. I merely want to know if you got some sort of satisfaction, even very slight satisfaction, in picking out a story flaw that even the developers decided to address.
    Though of course them mentioning it doesn't mean they admit it was a flaw, but whatever, this question is getting too complicated now. :P

    • @mcihay246
      @mcihay246 4 года назад

      If one were to look at Seliph's perspective in FE4, it's best that he doesn't know that he was to inevitably succeed.
      Plus, having Lewyn's machinations revealed in Thracia 776 instead of FE4 is a good means to show that he shows a facade whilst he's with Seliph.
      I can relate it to FE4 being like Eliwood Mode, whereas FE5 is like Hector Mode.

    I think the want for "innovation" in games is a very modern idea. In the times of FE6 and FE7 I think it would have been more accepted to have similar games, as long as they didn't come out too close to each other. Which back in the day was also not a huge issue.
    Heck even today I would argue that too much innovation can be detrimental to a series.

      The EU/PAL version of the game has a very sloppy translation, he's playing that version and not the NA release. And the story ISN'T bad, the community has just been swayed by an UNWATCHABLE analysis/critique video by popular FE RUclipsr Mekkah that blatantly RIPS OFF Red Letter Media and makes almost no good points. I like quite a bit of Mekkah's content, but that particular series is abhorrent, nitpicking, BULLSHIT that is also hard to watch and it is sad how much it has affected the opinion of the FE community on the topic of FE7's story, IMO.

    • @lpfan4491
      @lpfan4491 2 года назад +2

      A good chunk of errors actually do originate in the NA-release. Like the downright translationerrors, Nergal being misspelled as Negal(or something like that, don't remember) once, abilities being misspelled, etc. I know because I have seen those errors in FEBuilder and I can't have accidentially opened an EU-rom because that tool doesn't support those. Heck, the EU-release actually corrected some of the errors in the NA-release.
      Also, what's so wrong about a good amount of points in Mekkah's videos? Sure, the videos ARE kinda bad because of the forced "comedy", but I don't see the bigger issue with putting emphasis on how the story fails to have a logical throughline and contradicts FE6.

    Fire Emblem 7 that was the first Fire Emblem game to ever be released into the west, would not have been a successful release on the GBA if it were not for Marth and Roy being characters in Smash Bros Melee.
    That is perhaps my honest opinion of this game and to me, this was my first Fire Emblem experience as I am sure others who were around my age would also have to agree with if they were Smash Bros Melee fans and first knew of the Fire Emblem series thanks to Marth and Roy from that Smash Bros game.
    I did my research at the time back then thanks to gaming mags, so I knew all about the difficulty and permanent deaths that gamers would have to expect while playing the older Fire Emblem games especially on emulators.
    Thankfully for newer gamers to the series, the option to play Casual mode or Classic mode is one I honestly think is a good idea to give newer fans a fresh introduction with Casual mode and give them an option if they are good enough to take the challenge to play their second playthrough to try the Classic mode so they can try to play Fire Emblem the way it was traditionally made.
