If ever there was a channel that deserves a million subscribers, it's this one. The quality of content and presentation is just so consistently excellent. It's a shame that other guitar/amp channels seem stuck on lazy reviews, self-important pontificating and hokey clowning, whereas Johan simply provides a short introductory preamble and then just plays. No big personalities, endorsements or corporate shilling - just what matters. Always great. :)
Friedman does indeed deserve its hype. Every time I play one in a guitar store, it is the best sound out of any amp there. It takes all the best tones of a Marshall and does it better.
He makes great amps no doubt, and kudos to him for bringing back the hype and gas for hot rodded marshalls. My only gripes are that in Europe Friedmans are huber expensive, and that Dave Friedman is having is amps build by B.A.D. nowadays, which is something I dont super like honestly. For those reason If I was to buy a BE-100 head I'd go Ceriatone AH-100 clone. I have a silly soft spot for PTP construction, and Nik's customer support is something that cannot be rivaled.
Dear Johan! Came across a vintage 70s 100w Ampeg V4 GUITAR head (not bass) at a shop in LA. Owner said its his favorite ever, but its so loud no one asked for it once in over 6 months. Sure enough, even with vol knob at 1 it shook the storeroom windows. Total hard rock wet dream, like Live at Leeds on steroids: earth-shattering yet clean as a whistle. Sure enough, I got to thinking - wouldn't it be great if Johan got his hands on it? After all, its too expensive for me to afford, and the idea of hearing your tones on this sucker got me VERY excited. PS You make me proud to be Scandinavian. Cheers from LA! Best, Soren.
WOW!!..That spank! That sparkle!...That Glorious 'In Your Face' Tube Tone, most of us yearn for through multiple pedals, when it exists in this amp!! ....This amp is the starting tone, and for some of us purists. The only tone needed to rock!!
This is awesome! Just don't forget to use fades! There's a lot of clicks & pops when each track drops out. (Most audible at 4:52, 5:36, 5:51, 5:58, 6:01, 6:21 & 6:42) A quick fade-out as each individual track ends will fix that. Also if you combine/comp a track, remember to to add fades at the end prior to consolidating. Some DAWs like Pro Tools have easy keyboard shortcuts that will create fades on all audio tracks at once, which can minimize time expended and maximize your workflow.
Johan! I've loved your show for a long time and I have really come to know what a great Marshall tone is. I have learned what I really like the tend to be early metal faced Super Leads rather than 60's Plexis. That said however, I am partial to a 67 black flag you demo'd long ago. I believe I might have commented about "hearing the danger" because it had a lot of fritzes, crackles and well, "dangerous electricity" type sounds which add to the element of excitement. Then, due to a financial windfall and in town ease of purchase, I bought a Friedman Small Box combo, and that is my amp now. I think you would really appreciate the way they stick with a clean channel they call "Plexi" to compliment the super gain Browneye channel. And as a combo it looks very Buesbreaker in style and is very well put together. I think you would enjoy one quite a bit. Oh, and that lead tone you are getting out of that Runt has a very "dangerous" element to it as well. LOVE it! If you were in Western Canada I would be honoured to lend you mine to try but, well an ocean and a lot of land too, are in the way of that happeneing! Take care, you are the true King of the Plexi's , you keep filming, I'll keep watching.

Skinny Karlos I bought mine after deciding to live out my teenage dreams and finally buy myself a Mesa Boogie. After decades of playing inexpensive solid state and later modelling amps I really didn’t know how to dial a decent tone in to the Boogie. The guy in the shop felt sorry for me and said maybe I’d like to try the Runt 20 as the controls were less complicated!
