That dragon move Goku did at the end, “the dragon fist” is easily one of the coolest moves in the series. He uses it a couple times in GT.
It's his Ultimate in quite a lot of the DBZ fighting Games too
Indeed and hopfully they will never watch this.
@@GirlofCulturenah. More people need to watch GT and form their own opinion of it.
@@TheIllustriouBlueJay Sure thing. But i don't change my mind about that. I liked the ending of GT. The rest is crap.
Coolest asspull Goku's ever done
"you have to have a weakness, everything does" is such a iconic line
Also shoutout to vegeta's development of saving civilians. Lot of good characterization in this movie. the small bit of goku sliding the boys food is so cute
Fun fact:
The finishing move Goku does, The Dragon Fist, is technically the first and ONLY move that's fully unique to Goku
He's also been doing variations of that move since OG Dragon Ball.
Flipvadas I thought you were wrong but then I realized you are correct lol
Bio broly is the ultimate display of how a badass iconic character can be changed into a stanky swamp thing that isnt a beloved horror movie
Broly was lame anyway bro
We get some funny 18 and mr satan scenes at least
@@orbboom6119 That is weirdly a good reason to show them it...but after that....oh god it is so bad.
The new Broly is even lamer. At least the old Broly had a story , character, and purpose and was evil. Nowadays, any villain becomes an anti hero. Toriyama lost it his potential after the cell saga or maybe after Dbz for me@@ScapeVEVO
@@mzb1317 super Broly was never intended to be a villain anyway. If anything, he’s actually an exception to most dragon ball antagonists in that he was never a villain. Pilaf’s gang were goofy villains, the red ribbon army and Mercenary Tao were villains, Tien was the first villain to turn into a good guy after realizing he wasn’t a born killer. King Piccolo was a villain, Piccolo Jr however was *not*. He was an antagonist with a complicated moral upbringing. He broke free of the destiny his former self planned for him thanks to Gohan. Plus he’d technically accomplished his goal of killing Goku, so... Raditz was a villain, Vegeta was a villain until we learned more and he became an anti-hero. But he was the FIRST anti-hero. Piccolo Jr never killed anyone besides Goku, and Goku let it happen.
Freeza was a villain as well as his father and the entire freeza force. Gero and 19 were villains, 17 and 18 were antagonists, Cell was definitely a villain, Buu was a villain as well as Babidi and Dabura. Super is where we start to see really only non-villainous antagonists save for Frost, and Zamasu/Goku Black. If we add Hit and Jiren, Dragon Ball Super gave us 3 non-villains (including Beerus) and 2 straight up villains. Super Broly was another non-villain antagonist, but his father Paragus was a villain, he was out for vengeance but still.
In Goku's defense, there are animal people, sentient robots, androids, dinosaurs, dragons, shape-shifters, and gremlins/horror movie monsters all living on Earth and identifying as Earthlings. With that in mind, the villainous alien wouldn't really stand out much in terms of looks on their Earth.
This is such a weird movie. It’s implied that this is the sword that future Trunks uses, but it’s also given WAY past when everyone should have died.
In the end it’s a neat little movie with a cool new monster design to use for DB games
I really loved this movie since it highlights the sense of family the Z warriors have at this point, throwing parties and stuff, and we get all of them fighting at once, its really nice. And alongside fusion reborn, these are the 2 best animated movies.
That is the only problem with it, everything is else is just kind of nice and fun. As the reason Trunks goes back in time is because he cant kill the Androids...but here in this timeline they are already solved...soo....no time travel for this Trunks.
DBZ movies takes place on different timelines
@NamelessCat77holy fuck you're right.... I never realized that...
The only good thing about Bio-Broly, it focuses on Mr.Satan, #18, Trunks, and Goten….for approximately a quarter of the movie
I’ll never base my opinion off of someone else’s 💀
@@realovio uh huh?
@@realovio You mean in general or just from the characters in a movie? 🤨🤔
@@godzillahunter721 “uh huh “🤓🤓
I will not argue for bio broly.
It’s the dragonball evolution of dragonball movies
We do not talk about that one.
The scene between Bulma and Tapion is...weird for a Dragon Ball...well anything actually. But in a good way. It's a quiet scene where it's just the characters talking. Not after/during a fight, not about food or training, and not for comedy.
Just a genuine conversation between 2 strangers. The framing of it and the way everything is animated lends itself well to feeling like a vaery unique scene for what would be bruahed aside in normal Dragon Ball stuff.
DRAGON FIST!!!!!
🐲👊
This is a move that Goku actually made. He didn't take it from anyone else. Sadly, we never see this move in Super. We've seen this only in this movie and 3 times in GT
Also, don't you two remember you watch all legendary finishes of Dragon Ball Legends?
They don't retain much information, they watch things for the sake of making videos and then forget it all.
None of the Z movies from the 80s and 90s are canon nor is GT so that's why we don't see it.
Thanks for the information.
I don’t even think they remember much of what they saw from abridged or the previous movies they just finished either, tbf 😂
@@TheSkyrocketYT And yet DBS has no problem aping off of all of them.
If vegeta had been there 😂
Tapion: strike my hea...
Vegeta: cleaves him in half before he finishes his sentence 😂
Not necessarily before finishing his sentence, but...yeah, he wouldn't have needed to tell him twice, that's for sure.
"Fight me, if you're ready to die" is easily one of the coldest lines Goku ever said! Too bad, the reaction to it didn't make it to RUclips.
The Shenron granting one wish thing is just a plot hole
I got this movie in Japanese as a kid and absolutely loved it. This is definitely one of the most underrated DBZ movies.
The ocarina sounded better in the Japanese version as well.
This movie's dub is a bit of a dubism odd ball. Hirudegarn's weakness is completely different in the original Japanese version. In the original, its weakness is that it only becomes solid as it attacks, so Goku and Gohan realize that it can be hit the moment it strikes. The dub decided to change it to the idea that strong emotions drain it energy while never really addressing the fact that it keeps disappearing.
It's a strange change, but it's interesting to think about.
Edit: Also Goku's Dragon Fist is an original attack made for this film, but you could argue that it's a callback by Toei to something Goku does in the original Dragon Ball series. Goku also uses it more frequently in Dragon Ball GT.
They watched the version with the bad Tapion theme, the iconic version is such a bop
They're both good, stop crying 🙄
Yeah idk why they even changed the ocarina tune, it was so iconic
@@chrisblok5794 Why is me having a different opinion bothersome? I've been playing both themes on piano for years and I always end up going with the more catchy, melodic version when I wanna transition between songs in the same key. It has a more tight structure that gives both Japanese rpg music and somehow jewish holiday music. The other one is sort of a random array of notes within a basic chord progression. I'm glad you like both versions, though, they both serve their purpose. It's weird that it's the only change, though
@@orbboom6119 I first saw wrath of the dragon over a decade ago and have been playing the og version of tapions theme on the piano ever since. It's super versatile in switching between other dbz songs in a medley
@@rizzardthewizard nice. I'm glad i grew up with the latin spanish version since it kept all of the japanese soundtrack, and tapion's tune, yippee
The Japanese version is iconic, Tapion's melody is known all over the world, I don't know why they changed it in the American version. At least they would have left the original melody.
I don't understand why they watched every movie with original music, but not this one
There's something about Hirudegarn that I like. He's just a brainless insect kaiju thing but I always liked something about him, I just can't grasp on what it actually is.
Tapion was a cool character, wish he would've faught more. It's a cool back story on how trunks got the Z sword.
Are you guys planning to finish Buu Bits?
This is one of my favorites dbz movies.
If anyone can pitch Biobroly to a sane person, you are hired to lead the marketing team.
The First Appearance of Goku's First Original to him move, The Dragon Fist. And yeah this is apparently how Trunks gets his Sword
İ read somewhere that maybe Shenron taught Goku the Dragonfist.
Considering that you're this far in your Dragon Ball journey, I think you should react to the first 4 DBCembers by TeamFourStar. They were Advent Calendar-style countdowns of the guys' favorite aspects of the series. The first four are the Top 24 Iconic Moments in the series, the Top 24 movies (up to Resurrection F), Top 24 Villains, and Top 24 Video Games. Anything after that would include spoilers for Super, so I would recommend watching those after.
I love that you guys are going through all the Z movies.
I remember this stuff on toonami and vhs loll
It's called Dragon fist 👊 cool move of goku not shown in the main series ❤
Toei said “What if we had Link from Ocarina of Time fight Godzilla?”
In all the dbz movies this one was the epitome of artwork.. extremely detailed 🔥
"yeah he looks very human" well there is a dogman president, Olong and Tien is also human so... lol
Technically Resurrection F is the last Z movie, people tend to forget that due how close the series and the movie's release were. Aswell as it getting adapted into the first two arcs
If Goku can't do it, who will? That's the real name of this movie.
Right before Goku used the Ryu Ken (Dragon Fist), he kept asking himself 3 times "If I can't do it(x3)" "Who will...?" And that's when he used that technique on Hirudegarn.
Why the english dub change the music of Tapion Flute????
Not sure why either the original is a banger
It should be noted that the only movies that are considered canon are Dragonball Z: Battle of the Gods and Dragonball Z: Ressurrection F (which were later adapted to become the first two arcs of Super) and Dragonball Super: Broly and Dragonball Super: Super Hero.
Fun fact about the bio broly movie, the people who animated the movie mistakenly gave krilin a super sayan aura towards the end of the movie
That's pretty cool even if Not Canon and it's just a mistake
9:18 I think that's the same guy that usually does the narration at the end of episodes. Love it when they give him actual lines here and there.
I always hated how the dub changed Tapion's theme. Its so much better in Japanese, and i recommend it in your offtime, sometime
The technique that Goku used is called Dragon Fist. It's one of Goku's strongest attack, but unfortunately the Dragon Fist technique isnt cannon to the main series since we never seen Goku use it. The only time we get to see Goku use the Dragon Fist if you watched Dragon Ball GT and of course this movie Wrath of the Dragons
I know there are a lot of similarities to Link, but since it's Toriyama, all I see is a fusion of Crono and Magus with a Masamune
I saw this movie in theater, I was 7 years old. Still have goosebumps 😌
It still amazes me that Laura Bailey was the voice actress of young Trunks.
Congratulations on finishing mostly everything related to Dragon ball z! I look forward to the adventure that awaits in Dragon ball super with you 2!
I love the feedback you guys offer after watching and the comparison for the movies too. It’d be cool to hear your insights on each villain/new character introduced in each movie as well, I know they never really offer much besides being the powerful threat. but I still feel like their designs, abilities and concepts are worth discussing and concluding, especially since they’ll never be seen again. Other than that, great watch!
One of the coolest aspects of Future Trunks has never been properly explained: His Sword. This is gonna be complicated..and that's why i was never a fan of this Non-Canon or Canon debate, but here we go.
When we first meet him in DBZ, we see him use his sword kill Frieza's minions, cut Frieza into a million pieces, and even humiliate and then kill King Cold by showing him he doesn't need his sword to win.
When we see Future Trunks come back in Dragon Ball Super from the future timeline we see him with his iconic sword. Vegeta even quips about how he still carries it with him. To which Future Trunk replies it has sentimental value.
In the movie Wrath of the Dragon tries to explain that Trunks received the sword from Tapion as a kid. However this cannot be true for a few reasons:
The movie takes place in the normal altered timeline.
The sword is given to Present Kid Trunks, not Future Kid Trunks.
The movie is not canon due to Dragon Ball Super, etc.
This more likely symbolic showing that his present version will be kind of like his future version.
So where did it come from? The answer is actually very obvious and simple: Future Gohan. ☝
But now.. it's your turn.
Fun fact: Tapion and this movie predate Ocarina of Time by at least a couple of years. Link has been using woodwind instruments since the original Legend of Zelda, so Tapion is indeed very likely inspired by him.
There are three or probably four techniques created by Goku in the manga and anime;
~ Spinning Top Technique to fight Namu (the move almost unbeatable except it makes the user dizzy),
~ Wild Beast Technique and Crazy Monkey Fist which he created on the spot to defeat Jackie Chun's (Roshi) Drunken Boxing Technique,
~ and finally this finishing move, the DRAGON FISTT!! (This one actually non cannon, but its fits Goku and really good!)
Vegeta holding an L, everytime he comes on Screen, is so funny. I will never let Vegeta live it down 💀
This DBZ movie is another example of how much the franchise relied on having people like Goku as a character. He ultimately defeats Hirudegarn yet Ultimate Gohan was the most powerful fighter present vastly surpassing his father in terms of power. I'm honestly glad that the DBZ movies ( except Battle of Gods ) mostly exist within a seperate continuity. Some of them where solid but the the reliance of Goku and lack of usage of other characters such as Vegeta made most films boring to watch because you could safely predict the outcome.
This movie, despite not being canon, technically gives an explanation as ti where Trunks got his sword. Something the Abridged even references
Beth is actually spot on of the wishes being the last one in the cycle of 3
One of the best artstyles in the series.
Funny you mentioned Link. Ocarina of Time was released about 3 whole years after this movie came out, meaning Tapion could have very well inspired the team during development.
As a dbz fan you have to watch bio brolly then just never speak of it again 😂
And that is the Answer to how Trunks got his sword !
To be fair, you don't watch Bio Broly because it's good or bad, you watch it to get the full DBZ experience :P
my favorite DBZ movie I bought on VHS back in 1996❤
Btw you should listen to the original Tapion ocarina theme, it's beautiful.
The only gripe I have with movies like this, cool as they are, is how it ultimately all gets wrapped up with one attack from Goku right at the moment where they are almost beaten. It's just so unrealistic that it pulls me out of it a bit. Like what happens in the original Broly movie. Fusion Reborn also kind of does this, but at least there they did a fusion to achieve the power necessary rather than "Okay, I'll transform" or "Everyone, give me the last of your power." Also the second Cooler movie does this where Goku just throws a ball of energy that blows up the entire thing Cooler is using... somehow. At least the Dragon Fist looks cool, but it still makes me wonder where that power came from and why he didn't use it sooner, other than Goku being Goku.
Dragon Fist
One of the coolest and original move in Goku’s arsenal and it’s not canon….
its sad to see vegeta get owned every single time he makes an appearance but its just that vegeta sets the bar to show how powerful how the enemy really is. hes like the benchmark for villains to demonstrate and present their strength at lol.
The Dragon Fist is one of the coolest and original moves in Goku’s arsenal. Wish it would be used in canon material
It's called the dragon punch. It's a move he learned as a kid
Why'd they change tapions theme?
It's the american soundtrack :/
Long Story short: Tapion. Coolest/Most deep (for Dragonball standards) non-canon character in DBZ ever.
if you think about it Tavion reminds me of a dragon quest character.
so i came across a fan made music video called "anna's villain song" by "Lydia the Bard", it's really good, i recommend it, and read the description for context
So they took Chrono trigger's DNA mixed it with link and added a quart of edginess for good measure
The fact TFS says Bio Broly is better than second broly movie should be the only reason you need to watch it.
I love guys man it’s like a second home here 😭
It's a shame you missed the OG version of Tapion's music, for real, it's literally the best part of this movie.
When you guys finish all the movies, I hope you two give us a tier list!🧐🐲🐉
This explains how future trunks get tapion sword
Super dragon fist!!! Rarely used but unstoppable!
They are also missing Goku's ova and his friends return, which would be the last canon before he leaves super
This is the first time of the franchise we see Goku use the Super Dragon Fist or the Chō Ryūken. It was a popular finishing move in many video games in the early 2000s. However, two years after this movie first came out Goku would use it again again against super android 17 in DragonBall GT. However, it should be noted that the GT Manga released first and in the chapter "An Evil Dragon Appears!” is Goku’s first canonical use of a attack. Which may have predated this movie.
I forgot Vegeta saved people😮. I'm also glad that the movies have they all universe with the exception of Battle of God's revival freezer and on word
I had to give this video like just for that damn noise at the end lol
My personal favorite
This one has the young trunk so it's after Cell Saga during buu Saga
The second DBZ movie that could kinda be considered canon
This is the only of the 13 DBZ movies that feels like real effort went in to tell a unique story. Every other movie was just a remix of something from the series with better animation but writing on par with softcore porn. Granted, a lot of this was a remix of the early part of the Buu arc, but this movie actually did the story here better than the beginning of the Buu arc.
This could have easily been extended into a full-length movie if they would have brought Vegeta in sooner and had a sub-plot of Trunks seeking out Tapion because he couldn't connect with his father. That would have made the part at the end when Tapion asked Trunks to kill him work a lot better if Tapion tried to get him to do it by saying it's what Vegeta would do. Because that's NOT what Vegeta would do. Vegeta would see that as cowardly, sacrificing someone he cared about out of fear of a monster. They also could have set up a better ending than "Goku is just strong enough to kill it" with more time.
I hope you know this is where Future Trunks gets its sword
While this movie fits in the canon timeline-wise, since it takes place after Buu, there's one issue.
Tapion giving his sword to Trunks, since he wouldn't have been freed in the future timeline.
You still need to watch Tree of might, coolers revenge, and there’s just so much more movies you two should react too
I actually recognize the music in this one. Which means, there was no American dub music for this one, OR that the American dub music was the only version available for you to watch. Either way, I like the music they use here cuz it's a little modern, a little theatrical. As much as I have a fondness for most of the hard rock/metal era of the early movies, it doesn't fit into this at all lol, I prefer this approach.
And the original Japanese soundtracks I always thought just sounded too outdated, it's not for me.
I'm not really a Bio-Broly guy. But, if I were to sell you on it, the main characters are 18, Hercule and them little ol' Saiyan boys. It's bizarre, if nothing else, I guess. Not to the extent of Fusion Reborn, but ya know.
Also, you get to hear Android 18's original "non-Kai" voice. And I think they actually bring that VA back for Super, so you'll be hearing it plenty anyway. I'm pretty sure that original voice is the whole reason I like scratchy voiced women, I'll just be completely honest. I mean, okay, it's not *that* scratchy, but it's a lot deeper than her Kai voice. Menacing, but in a hot way lmao.
But aaaaaanyway, yeah, other than 18 being hot & Satan being comic relief. Idk. It's got slight monster movie vibes, but I guess so does this one, huh? Though, this is more Godzilla/kaiju & Bio-Broly is more of a Frankenstein type thing.
Up to y'all, really.
Ken and Bethany The next movie you guys got to see is battle of the gods that will blow your mind is one the most greatest movies I have ever seen fans loved it😊
I think you guys watched all my favorite in abridged format say for this one.
1Broly the legendary super saiyan
2lord slug
3tree of might
4Bradock father of Goku
5Deadzone
6wrath of the dragon
Holy crud, that music and dub...
Well regardless, this is probably one of my favorites, mainly because of the Dragon Fist. Bio Broly is mainly just to see 18 and the kids fight.
As much as I love this movie I hate it is non-canon, because Goten was never born in Future Trunks's timeline and yet it was meant to explain how he got his sword
Just paid for patreon, you guys did not disappoint lol
So, you watched every movie with japanese music, but ironically the one where the japanese music is ESPECIALLY great, you choose the american one.
I have all of Dragonball, start to finish, on DVD. That included the movies. With this in mind: you were right to skip Bio-Broly. It's really bad
The Dragon Fist is an attack that unleashes all of Goku's remaining energy in a single attack. It's an all-or-nothing, desperation move. It was first used in the original Dragonball against a major villain
Bio-Broly had some funny follow-up continuity about 18 having to shake Hercule (Mr. Satan) down for the money he owes her.
It was an unusual dbz movie otherwise. Not much else to say.
You got to see the first series
the last dragon ball movie of the 90s i think
Idk why but this used to be my top DBZ movie back in the day haha. How do yall cut the video out when you talk and bring it back? Love yalls vids like always :)
Despite its flaws i think you'll surely enjoy bio broly
Humans can Fly lol 😂
You should watch Vemon VS Crona (Marvel VS Soul Eater) that was a good fight
Love the awesome reaction guys - keep up the great work!!!
Bio Broly is good for characters, bad for fights. I think it was one of Mistare Fusion's top DBZ movies.
With how often the city gets destroyed....how high do you think the insurance is in this place?
Watch Dragon Ball Movie 4: Path to power!! It's everything great about classic Dragon Ball packed into a single movie. Plus it actually makes Yamcha look cool
