I wish Quatar and Air Dilli should be well informed of that and realise how childish and unprofessional their reaction to Josh reviews of their Airlines was . Congratulation Josh.
The government doesn't need an airline, the people need a flag carrier. The unfortunate reality is that the government simply isn't willing to give SriLankan the attention it desperately needs. Once the right people get their hands on the airline it'll go back to being an excellent carrier.

But the problem is the government is usually going to be heavily involved with a flag carrier. Case in point Air Canada, where are government has been bailing them out every decade since 2004

I flew Sabena in 1990 Atlanta-Brussels- Helsinki and they shortly thereafter went under.

Well I was on Sabena in mid 1990s!
In a way Sabena still exists today, under the new name Brussels Airlines (with flight numbers SN)
I remember seeing sabena airlines for the first time at Singapore Changi airport in the early 1990’s and I thought to myself: " I never heard of an airline , using a female name as it’s airline name "…

I've seen that Air Belgium are phasing out their A330-900's due to ongoing engine issues, any ideas on whats going on?

They are trying to say they the A330-900's are to expensive to maintain and put pressure on Rolls Royce etc to reduce their charges in order to kept the A330-900s in good working order.

It’s really a pitty that Air Belgium has stopped its regular flights. It was the only carrier to offer direct flights to South Africa from Brussels at competitive prices. There aren't many options currently on this route. European carriers are overpriced and transiting through the Gulf costs us a lot of hours. For me, Ethiopian is the only acceptable alternative on this route right now.
