    Hi! While following your video there's a part where you added that white substance on top of the chip. The noob that I am, I don't know what that is and I don't have any on me, do I need to use it before I assemble my laptop back together? Will something bad happens if I don't? Thank you for the video!

      Nier hi, this is thermal paste. It better to apply new thermal paste if, but you can do not do this if you won't remove the old thermal paste.

    You havent added anything to external graphic card (thermal paste) and what was that rectangle left on the top of the card? Is it good to not add thermal paste to graphic card?

      I reacted on that too. I think he didn't add paste there (isn't that cpu?) because he keept the old thermal tape. I cleaned all the old gunk and added new paste on all 3 surfaces. I wouldn't trust 5+ year old stuff to perform very well

    Ноутбук acer 5820tg поменял проц i5-460M на Core i7-640m . Биос не видит проц. обновлял bios на 1.22 и 1.25 не помогло. При загрузке винды артефакты на экране. Кто подскажет что делать?

    • @howfixit
      @howfixit  6 лет назад

      i7-640M совместим с 4мя моделями чипсетов QM57, HM57, PM55, HM55 (источник ark.intel.com/ru/products/49666/)
      Информации о совместимых чипсетах i5-460M Intel почему-то не предоставляет, но просмотрев список совместимых процессоров каждого из перечисленных выше чипсетов можно заметить, что в списках i5-460M отсутствует, т.е. наиболее вероятно совместимые с i7-640M чипсеты не совместимы с i5-460M, а следовательно скорее всего и совместимые с i5-460M чипсеты не совместимы с i7-640M. Вот такая вот канитель. Надеюсь я нормально сформулировал мысль :)

      Ну а теперь у меня и версий нет, так как вариант с чипсетами - основная причина подобных случаев в моей практике, и так как других значимых различий я не обнаружил. Может я что и упустил, но сейчас не знаю что.

    Hi, first off thanks very much for the upload and useful video. I need your advise please! I have a 5820TG which I have been using without a battery for the last 3 years. I ordered a new battery about 6 months ago but on the first boot with the new battery the display stopped working from the welcome screen onwards although the computer was running and making the usual welcome sound and skype starting sound. Just the display was pitch black with no light or picture. I tried without the battery afterwards but the display only showed until the starting windows logo and stopped showing anything beyond that. I could however start the pc and display the desktop in safe mode. However, about 3 weeks ago I booted the laptop normally after a long time without a battery through only the charger and it worked as normal, surprisingly. Do you have any advice as to why this issue may have occured? Could there be something wrong with my motherboard or can it just be a problem with the battery. I want to buy a new battery for the laptop but am afraid to do so without getting some pro advice. Thanks very much in advance, I'd really appreciate your advice on this :-)

      Hashan Peiris as I understand the issue is that screen lights doesn't work after entering windows. If you have laptop on AMD graphics the problem can be in new version of driver that doesn't work correct. The only way that I know in that case is to install the older version of AMD graphics driver, try to find V. 13.1, as i remember. Good luck, hope this help you!

      How-FixIT Thanks a lot for that prompt reply and advice! Ok, I understand now; so its not an issue caused by the new battery then. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB Graphics chip. I havent updated the driver for the graphics card since I bought the laptop but maybe it was automatically updated with windows updates. I could try and reinstall the older version of the driver for this card if you suspect thats the root of the issue. One more thing to ask you please; since this has nothing to do with the battery/charger, would it be ok if I purchase and use another new battery for this laptop? Thanks so much for your help mate, liked and subscribed! :-)

      Hashan Peiris
      if there is no problems in MB controller new battery will work correct. And actually same problem with screen light I saw in laptop with Radeon HD 5650M.
