I’m all for the argument that we in the UK need to get better at bringing British coaches through and getting them into top jobs. But until we get better at doing that, it makes sense to appoint an elite coach for our national team. If anything, such an appointment will only make British coaching stronger because of the sharing of ideas that will happen as a result
I’m so glad the comments agree this over reaction to Tuchel’s appt is embarrassing. Anyone would think the NT has a trophy cabinet as decorated as Argentina’s, Brazils or Germanys. PL teams have foreign coaches and supposedly it’s the best league in the world, BECAUSE of the foreign coaches (and players), not the English players. I pray Tuchel wins something and these three will return with their tails in between their legs or feign memory loss.
You don't want the best coach, you want an English coach. Then you are surprised when England can't win major tournaments. This arrogance is why the rest of the world has no respect for the English media or English pundits. Wake up. The British Empire is long gone. You can't bring it back through football.
A foreign coach rarely get's a premier league job unless they've shown high performance levels abroad, sometimes in multiple leagues. If a young English coach wants to get a top premier league job then they should follow a similar pathway to what we see a lot of young English players do and go get experience abroad I.E Jude Bellingham. This is before we even mention how difficult it is for people in the UK to get coaching badges making the talent pool much smaller.
Listening to these opinions, I understand why England don't produce top level managers. Need to ask why are both in Overlap 'US' and a show that calls football 'soccer'. And while at it ask why US don't have a NT coach from US too (they even interviewed him for this exact channel, and Carragher thought it was a perfect fit for US!). Neville should question why perhaps the best manager ever for his club is a Scot, and similarly for Carragher another Scot or in the last couple of decades, a German.
'German manager wins WORLD CUP for England....' Oh come on it's DESTINY! You've got the players NOW you have THE MANAGER! Wonderful seeing Mrs Buckle looking so radiant!

These guys are just traumatized by Capello. Also, current group of players think very differently to these lot and are actually more comfortable and respondent to foreign managers.
Wow, the debate around Tuchel is intense! Honestly, I think having a fresh perspective could be just what England needs. Let’s see if he can bring some of that Bundesliga magic! ⚽️🔥
@@LHBH8 nah. You guys are the xenophobic weirdos. Football is about winning and building culture around quality football. How many English coaches have won the prem?
English managers should move abroad and develop like some English players have too - there isn’t a divine right for English managers to get the top jobs in the prem or for the international team just for being English
You should have recorded this after you had taken the opportunity to listen to the FA and Thomas Tuchel news conference today. Tuchel was cogent, articulate, humble with a good sense of humour. I love Gary and Jamie but they come across as little Englanders and bit provisional. When has an English manager won the Premier League or any trophy of worth apart from Lee Carsley. The Premier league is the best because the best from around the world work in it. I think Lee Carsley will manage England one day but its too soon right now. Look how media treated him during the window? The news conference stated that Tuchel's contract was signed DAYS ago, 10 coaches were interviewed which includes English mangers. They obviously didnt come up to scratch. Now Tuchel is in post let's support him.
Pulisic is playing more minutes for Milan this year than he’s played since he was at Dortmund, so not having him play on a terrible Mexican pitch makes sense. The other four are carrying injuries.
I think these guys have misjudged the overwhelming support from the English fans for Tuchel - it’s up to the fa to appoint the best person for the job and it’s up to English coaches to put themselves into a position where they can be good enough to be considered. Football is a results game it makes no difference what nationality you are.
Not surprise in the lack of English managers, just look at all the ex players. They’re media pundits! They couldn’t bother trying to stick in a coaching career 😂
so they would rather throw an under qualified coach into the role because he's English basically...this doesn't make sense. I grew up watching Sven manage England and it certainly didn't make me support England less cuz he wasnt English... it was those tournaments that got me hooked on football.
Talking wibble lads. Pure and simple, they’ve selected the best man (available) for the job, which is to win in ‘26. You all repeatedly say, the hardest step is to WIN. English Managers don’t win! In time I’m sure one will. Until then. Best man for the job, all day every day.
There’s also NEVER been a manager to win a World Cup with a different nation, and only ever 1 manager to win the euros with a different nation. Don’t think tuchels going to start changing history, do you?
ENGLISH MANAGERS ARE GARBAGE - Says a lot when overrated Eddie Howe is the top pick. I’d have rather kept Southgate than appoint Potter / Howe / Carsley. Big up touché
Speaking of the Big Five, Italy, Spain, Germany and France have all won World Cups since 2000. England's bigger embarrassment is not winning, not appointing a foreign manager
Embarassing to get Tuchel over a non existent quality English manager? No Jamie, not winning a major trophy for 60 years is THE embarassment! Iv majorly heard only these pundits moan about this, proper England fans have sense.
Neville: we are damaging our own coaching program 🤔 Is that the same coaching program you earned a 36% win record with at Valencia it’s damaged already. 🤣🤣 get in the Bin 🗑
What in the little Englanders are these takes? 😂 They’d rather have a worse manager and throw away more chances at international trophies because of a passport?😂😂😂 Southgate made 2 finals because he had favourable draws with a great squad of players, as soon as they faced another top ranked nation, they lost, every time. Not sure if International managers can implement a style of play but should have got Potter because of his style of play? Lampard?! Tuchel took over from him, won the UCL & got around double the PPG during his time there. Gerrard sacked from Villa in 17th, Emery finished that season 7th. An Englishman being manager isn’t going to automatically make English coaches better, and the England manager being foreign doesn’t mean the work at St. George’s Park just stops.
The difficulty of winning a tournament is there’s a lot of variables you can’t prepare for (Injuries, Draws and groups you’re placed in) You need an element of luck to succeed in a tournament.
Hate the way other pundits keep jumping in on Gary Neville! This guy is very special! He’s entitled to have his own opinion, he’s earned it. Lads come on i know he’s german but hes a top top manager
If you can not get Pep or Klopp then Tuchel is the obvious choice. He belongs to the top 5 coaches in the world. We should be lucky and grateful
You don't want the best coach, you want an English coach. Then you are surprised when England can't win major tournaments. This arrogance is why the rest of the world has no respect for the English media or English pundits. Wake up. The British Empire is long gone. You can't bring it back through football.
You're right bro. And I'm English
This is before we even mention how difficult it is for people in the UK to get coaching badges making the talent pool much smaller.
the irony is if klopp was appointed no way would they being saying the same thing
These guys are confused. It is not a shame to beg foreign players to play for England but it is a shame to have foreign coach.
Instant takes are the worst takes. Do better.
Again, another bum not from England on a video about England. Virgin behaviour.
'German manager wins WORLD CUP for England....' Oh come on it's DESTINY! You've got the players NOW you have THE MANAGER!
Wonderful seeing Mrs Buckle looking so radiant!
Southgate took us to two finals with the easiest cup runs in the history if the tournaments, no one ever mentions how easy the routes he had were every tournament
This reaction is embarassing.
3 Brits showing how they lost The Empire.
Nothing embarrassing about finding the best available candidate.
It is, you don’t see it because you’re part of this bum generation.
What they really want to say but dont have the balls to say it is they dont want Tuchel because hes german.
Jamie says "I'll never change." That's what every dinosaur says.
The other four are carrying injuries.
why is there a podcast all about england in “the overlap US”
Yes they spoke about Man U last week. Really embracing American Soccer
Tuchel will be england manager when world cup in America in 2026
Because it's about premier league football for fans in the US, not difficult really
@@louisestevenson1038 what is different about this show compared to their other one then? how is it made for fans in the US?
@@louisestevenson1038 Why can't they just watch the normal Overlap then?
Completely agree. I think Tuchel is better placed having managed in the PL too.
Not as embarrassing as neville managerial career 😂😂
Rogers,Lampard,Gerarad,potter....etc all of them failed with big jobs.
Rogers isn't English.....😂
I’m new to football. Why is it an issue to have English managers coaching the national team? Tuchel will win trophies. He has a great track record.
Eddie howe or porter can't even breathe same air as Tuchel.. Be Grateful he's even accepting to manage England..
Talking wibble lads. Pure and simple, they’ve selected the best man (available) for the job, which is to win in ‘26.
You all repeatedly say, the hardest step is to WIN. English Managers don’t win!
In time I’m sure one will. Until then. Best man for the job, all day every day.
What a load of rubbish it’s like saying Prem clubs should only have English players
People should stop paying these two for talking tosh
Maybe Gary Neville , should have applied for the England job . After all he did such a great job with Valencia.
Gary Neville clearly doesnt like Tuchel
Noone likes gary neville
Gary doesn't like it so its going to be great success 😂
Just when I thought qualifiers and nations league football couldn't get anymore engaging, they hire tuchel as England manager
Neville and carrangher should take over since they know so much about managing
What planet are these guys living on?
Last English manager to win the premier league 🤔🤔must tell u something
There’s also NEVER been a manager to win a World Cup with a different nation, and only ever 1 manager to win the euros with a different nation.
Don’t think tuchels going to start changing history, do you?
@@justincoleman1700 naw he’s a 🤡🤡
What had Scaloni won before taking the Argentina job? Same with Spains manager.
@@justincoleman1700Serena Weigman
ENGLISH MANAGERS ARE GARBAGE - Says a lot when overrated Eddie Howe is the top pick.
I’d have rather kept Southgate than appoint Potter / Howe / Carsley.
Big up touché
International breaks are boring as f**k. Fans hate it so much.
Is this supposed to be for americans? Have they even talked about pochettino yet besides the first episode?
Speaking of the Big Five, Italy, Spain, Germany and France have all won World Cups since 2000. England's bigger embarrassment is not winning, not appointing a foreign manager
Embarassing to get Tuchel over a non existent quality English manager? No Jamie, not winning a major trophy for 60 years is THE embarassment! Iv majorly heard only these pundits moan about this, proper England fans have sense.
Neville: we are damaging our own coaching program 🤔
Is that the same coaching program you earned a 36% win record with at Valencia it’s damaged already. 🤣🤣
get in the Bin 🗑
Imagine the English premiership without foreign coaches 😮
Tuchel is a world class champions league winner, he’s more qualified that any English manager for the job
Really is a shite version of the actual overlap
All jokes aside, these lot need a reality check.
1:08 Nicola sporting the Plastic surgery look
What in the little Englanders are these takes? 😂 They’d rather have a worse manager and throw away more chances at international trophies because of a passport?😂😂😂
Southgate made 2 finals because he had favourable draws with a great squad of players, as soon as they faced another top ranked nation, they lost, every time.
This is why fans get pissed off because 99% of us HATE international break, and we don't care how much you enjoy it.
The difficulty of winning a tournament is there’s a lot of variables you can’t prepare for (Injuries, Draws and groups you’re placed in) You need an element of luck to succeed in a tournament.
With so many talented English players for the last 3 decades I'm surprised England cannot produce a top quality English manager
If England win the World Cup can England really take the credit if it was done under a German manager?
I'm over the moon Thomas tuchel got the england job now we won't need to listen to the "it's coming home" pish 😂😂
Again, another bum not from England on a video about England. Virgin behaviour.
We do not have good managers in England, accept it. So we should appoint another loser so we can have an England manager?
Neville & carragher 100% dinosaurs 100% 🐓s
5:00 You are a normal person love, you just work weekends.
Hate the way other pundits keep jumping in on Gary Neville! This guy is very special! He’s entitled to have his own opinion, he’s earned it. Doesn’t mean he’s always right or that I always agree with him, but guys show him more respect. He’s a hard worker and inspirational! Shut up it’s the truth! 😁👌🤙⭐️✅💯🔥
Lampard and Gerrard aren't fit to manage Kettering Town - or, rather, that's exactly where they should be starting, then proving themselves as capable managers and working their way up. Personally, I find the arrogance of their previous (disastrous) forrays into management so embarrassing I hope they're never offered another job as manager again.
Everyone's talking about Tuchel not being an English Manager, we must have an English Manager. Only a few weeks ago everyone was talking about having Klopp in the seat, or Pepp as the best options! Personally I would like Howe in the seat, but I think Tuchel will do very well!
Who’s everyone? Some people isn’t everyone.
I’m getting bored of listening to Neville and Carragher! Can guarantee if it was Klopp or Pep they’d be wet with excitement. The only realistic English option is Howe and for whatever reason they couldn’t get him so stop your whining. Tuchel is a proven winner
