It was only the later years where he kept picking up injuries that he’s remembered for. I remember him as someone who always gave 100% in every game and I say that as a Liverpool fan.
Phil Jones seems like a decent guy and he deserves a little sympathy for suffering so many injuries that his career was derailed early. However, the reason Man Utd hold some anger towards him (admittedly, a misdirected anger) is because he signed a bumper new 4.5 year deal in February 2019. This was a time when he had already struggled with injuries for 5 full seasons, limiting him to a total of maybe 75 games in that 5 year span. Ole was the coach, Ed Woodward was the CEO, and Man Utd were going nowhere on the park. Phil meanwhile got himself paid, on a crazy contract that would not have been given even by a Saudi club.
So the beef with him is that one of the world's biggest football clubs, with all the resources it had at its disposal to assess players, offered a professional athlete a contract that enabled him to maintain his livelihood, and the athlete had the gall to accept it? Pretty sure Jones isn't the party United fans should have a problem with.

How self-righteous he sounds about getting subbed off at HT. Footballers are so spoilt and have little real world experience that their moral compass is back to front. Childs mentality. It’s not a personal judgement on Phil it’s more the environment that creates this.
He was very unlucky with injuries and you can’t blame him for not giving up when many might have. He genuinely felt he had something still to offer when fit. As a Liverpool fan I can say he always gave 100% every game he played, and maybe even gave too much at times, literally throwing himself into challenges. Plus, its a lot of money to walk away from when you known its a limited career so you can’t blame him for sticking around as long as he could.
Not his fault but I could never understand why we signed Jones. Played all these positions but wasn't exceptional at any. Prone to far to many mistakes as well as injuries. While City signed Kompany and Zabaleta, we signed Jones and Smalling. Was given a new contract when he was still long term injured I remember. I always felt there was a mistake waiting to happen everytime he played. Never had that feeling when Vidic, Ferdinand, Stam, Bruce and Pallister played.
With all the injuries he had being out for long periods he couldn’t really say too much tbf. A lot of clubs wouldn’t have been as patient as Utd were with him. He hardly played during his last contract.
Phil gets some stick and I bet he personally does want play football but man utd keep giving him contracts he's props still on over 70k a week just to go training so more fouls man utd
Phil Jones really needs a reality check. He’s a multiple millionaire who was basically on sick leave for the majority of his career. If any “normal” person was off work as much as he was we’d be out of a job. He is exceptionally fortunate and should honestly feel embarrassed for how little he contributed.
‘Beaker’ will always be associated with our downfall and not his medal won playing along side the greats… keano lost his head all the time thats why he was a winner!
Good for Phil to have his say and give an insight to what the likes of Ledley King and other injury ravaged players go through. Pretty sure he’d give up all the money he earned in wages to have his career back, injury free and another crack at it. Was a really good and committed player before the injuries destroyed him.

Rangnick was the worst by a mile post Ferguson. Jose and Ten Hag, objectively the best two (two trophies each, very similar league positions), Ole the one that made us most consistent game-to-game but couldn’t do the last bit.
He talks like someone who reads about himself and Man United on the internet. Even uses the "man manager" term, which has been hugely popularised by fans on the internet 😅
The more he speaks the more I realize how awful he really was, for most part he didnt play as he was injured but him thinking so highly of himself shows why his career ended it the way it did
It's funny because if you read between the lines, Jones knew he was finished but decided to stay for the last year of his contract and pick up a wage before retiring. Yet he's here expecting pity for being subbed during a shite team performance having not played for 12 months. Footballers live in a bubble.
I can't take anything this total bum says seriously. Jones is of the main instigators along with Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Marcos Rojo to infect this club with a culture of entitlement and idleness. I have no time for anyone who speaks positively about this bum. He was given so many opportunities to go and play first team, regular football elsewhere but preferred to just sit on the bench and freeload off the Club all in the name if the ultimate deflection 'I want to stay at the Club and fight for my place' all because he valued money over playing and it's subsequently rubbed off on other players like Donny Van De Beek, Sancho, Maguire and Casemiro.

Dalot, you cannot run back in the 3rd minute of the game against Tottenham? Well, answer to the hordes, mate
Bruno, you think you're undroppable and can do back heel passes in middle of the park while getting red cards? Answer to the fans mate
Ringing your agent for being subbed kkkkkkkkk
If I were a pro football manager, you simply don't play for me UNLESS you can kick the ball with both feet. It's all I did as a kid. To be the very best version of myself in the game.
And how did your professional career go?
Serving 12yrs in the RAF was a blast!!.
If Mourino was there and the old furniture was removed the team would b best, management of MU is responsible also😅
So not had a shot in the game, losing 2-0, no point having so many defenders on the pitch, they have not made much of a difference, so you need fire power but you have got to take someone off, lets off the central defender that is completely match fit and leave on the one that probably will have to be subbed off to spare his feelings, poor little baby, no point Phil considering going into management as he still gets outraged for being subbed off for an unknown reason, he maybe is as thick as people thought he was.
Jones just can never accept he was shite. One of the worse players I’ve ever seen in a united shirt. Even in this he’s saying other players were worse. No united fan should have any respect for this guy never performed and then faked injuries in transfer windows so he could just sit in the stands and collect a wage
He’s got a hell of alot to say for someone that stole a living. When you’re known for pulling funny faces on the pitch than playing games there’s problems. Well changing holiday destinations was a waste of time
" I was good with my left foot...beleive it or not "
😅
OH MY GOD, HIS LEFT FOOT WAS UNBELIEVEABLE, of course it was Phil, shame you never got to show that, problem is he has had years playing football only in his mind, with players saying the nice and kind bullshit about what a fantastic you are and how we can't wait until you are back, so now in his mind he was that player that Fergie said he was going to be.
It's the same year city's title win is under threat where united finished 2nd
Absolutely speaks volumes about the toxic culture in that dressing room, entitled, childish, cowards. IIRC RR brought on an attacker too?
Have to feel sorry for P Jones, was a great player in those later fergie days. Gets so much shit for no real reason
He was a steady squad player. Injuries killed his career and he did get a lot of stick unnecessarily. He was also happy enough to be paid a big salary and do nothing for years though. So i wouldnt feel to sorry for him.
DeGea said his left foot was lethal .
This guy is unbelievable. Who does he think he is? He is not ashamed that he milked MANU for such a long time without kicking a football; he should be ashamed.
You'd try even harder to play!! Says it all
How self-righteous he sounds about getting subbed off at HT. Footballers are so spoilt and have little real world experience that their moral compass is back to front. Childs mentality. It’s not a personal judgement on Phil it’s more the environment that creates this.
A lot of hate here for Jones, because he honoured his contract 🤯
He was very unlucky with injuries and you can’t blame him for not giving up when many might have. He genuinely felt he had something still to offer when fit. As a Liverpool fan I can say he always gave 100% every game he played, and maybe even gave too much at times, literally throwing himself into challenges. Plus, its a lot of money to walk away from when you known its a limited career so you can’t blame him for sticking around as long as he could.
4 years contract to play two or three games
@@maral-vf5xs who drafted the contract Utd or Jones?
@@bicks82 Ed Woodward
United kept renewing his contract so can’t blame him for seeing it out. Always injured mostly due his lack of positioning
Is he talking about all the managers he didn't play under 😂
Wow that was hilarious,no wonder you had to laugh yourself
With all the injuries he had being out for long periods he couldn’t really say too much tbf. A lot of clubs wouldn’t have been as patient as Utd were with him. He hardly played during his last contract.
Phil gets some stick and I bet he personally does want play football but man utd keep giving him contracts he's props still on over 70k a week just to go training so more fouls man utd
At least he won the Primer league with Sir Alex lol.
Phil Jones really needs a reality check. He’s a multiple millionaire who was basically on sick leave for the majority of his career.
If any “normal” person was off work as much as he was we’d be out of a job.
He is exceptionally fortunate and should honestly feel embarrassed for how little he contributed.
2:39 I’m dragged off I’m upset blah blah then my wife reminded me of the contract and salary = I shut up and when back to collect my salary
And then he fought the club every time they tried to get rid of him because he wanted to sit on the bench and do fuck all
‘Beaker’ will always be associated with our downfall and not his medal won playing along side the greats… keano lost his head all the time thats why he was a winner!
Good for Phil to have his say and give an insight to what the likes of Ledley King and other injury ravaged players go through. Pretty sure he’d give up all the money he earned in wages to have his career back, injury free and another crack at it. Was a really good and committed player before the injuries destroyed him.
He got very well paid! what happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room!
@@frostdarren1390 paid or not, it is not the solution to everything. Dressing room stuff comes out at some point post career for anyone. Player or manager.
This guy stayed in the club for a year without playing but still got paid, wonders!
Man this guy really does everything to be disliked while playing the victim of social media abuse.
Loved mad Dog Rojo
Was it just me who thought, it's Steve Smith in black t shirt.
Jose mourinho to me was the best united manager post Sir Alex unfortunately he had to deal with Ed woodward and the Glazers! If only he had Ineos
Respect and all that but why take a new contract offer from the clown edd Woodward if you was hiding a knee injury ???
I love Phil Jones. A great guy who have taken so much shi#
So he knew he wasn't going to train and play again for Utd on Ten Hag first season but he stayed at the club for two seasons collecting free money. This guy has no dignity or shame
So what?
this comment section is the complete opposite of Rio's
Rangnick was the worst by a mile post Ferguson. Jose and Ten Hag, objectively the best two (two trophies each, very similar league positions), Ole the one that made us most consistent game-to-game but couldn’t do the last bit.
They not gave them time to develop the players and playing style. That’s been problem over the last decade, short term decisions.
Don’t know if it’s just the clip - But comes off as someone very full of himself
Why do they always have to ring an agent.
Because modern players are a bunch of primadona fannies.....
man united isnt looking for a manager, man united is looking for a Ferguson.
To be honest i didn't think he was to bad yeah he had his moments but i thought he wasn't a bad player
Only 16 Phil has had is number of injuries in a season
If this guy rings his agent after a bad match this guy defo was leaking stuff to the press to
Those chairs look so uncomfortable! 😂
Dude is so full of himself. Coach says you're off then you're off! Accept it and move on!
When the closed is a clown like Wreck it Ralph was then Jones is well within his rights to call out his BS.
i feel sorry for Rangnick , he has to deal with this garbage .
Phil Jones Pink boots!
Sounds like a team first guy…
Phil Jones robbed a living as a footballer, that in itself is massively overlooked.
He did all right in the game 😂😂😂😂. Mate you were horrific
Can’t be using the phone in the shower mate. Should know that.
Nothing with this guy makes sense. He uses the phone in the shower
He rang his agent and his wife, the only two people who wouldn't tell him the truth.
Stole a living on the treatment table lol
Is that the world most uncomfortable chair?
Bro he's only remember😂😂
They did wrong to sack Mourinho. When you appoint a manager for Cod’s sake stand by him. Incompetent club 🙄
Let's be reyt . What's happened to Phils eyebrows ?
Who is this guy ?
