Transformers, Bionic Six, Droids, Ewoks, Adventures of Flash Gordon, etc. All those shows too me back to the late 70s with Flash Gordon from 79, and the 80s with great animated shows. ....Wow!! 1995. ......Sigh......to be 22 again.

To those saying this was season 2 original theme: STOP!! I am a Transformers fanatic and I can tell you that this IS the alternative theme for season two. I used to get the Transformers VHS in my hometown's video store (yes I'm that old) and the music that is played on the DVD releases of season 2 is the original music.
I think it's mostly because unlike the other intros, it actually built itself up into a crescendo while the others already start fortissimo. It made S2's intro unique.
I *knew* I wasn't imaging that this version of the theme song played over *this* version of the opening, before the movie, before Galvatron, Unicron and the Sharkticons! Why do the DVD's only use this theme music on the episodes that come after the feature film? By the way, does anyone recall an episode where this version of the theme played but it was instrumental? And that chorus behind _"Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons..."_ could be clearly heared on it's own... My brother and I almost *died* when they did that! Wished they did a few episodes like that!

I loved season 2 then after the movie, I started becoming uninterested because no more Optimus Prime or Megatron. Even when they brought back Optimus in season 4, it just wasn't the same.
Yeah. They tried to replace Prime and still keep him at the same time with lackluster "Rodimus Prime". They just should have had him *regenerate,* like the way "Megatron" became "Galvatron"
Hot Rod/Rodimus was not a bad character imho. He's just a bit underdeveloped, and a bit forced into the position of Autobot leader (both meta and in-universe)
Same here, i did not like season three for the same thing and because they killed most of my favorite characters in the movie so in season 3 and 4 i had to always just see Rodimus, Cup, Blurr, and wheelie, meanwhile the autobots who survived the movie rarely appeared in the series :/
I think that overall episode plots were better in Season 3, departing Earth allowed them to use new aliens which was more interesting than humans, also batshit insane Galvatron was hilarious
This would have been perfect for scramble city if they had released it properly as season 2 ending before the movie. If only they had included the combines in the movie then it would have been a perfect fit all round
+Alexisrocks The reason the combiners weren't in the movie was because the movie was in development prior to their debut. Though I agree it would have been awesome to see an all out "combiner war."
I don't know why on earth people say this music belonged to season 3? Every since Transformers was on in the 80s and even before the movie came out, it always came on to this tune. At least where I lived. Some people say it opened differently but way before the Sci-Fi channel existed it came on this way.
I bought the dvd reissues and the first season and second season were different from this, I couldn't believe it! I was so disappointed! Many argue that they used season 3 to overplay the season 2 theme. My whole argument with that is: How could that be when season 2 was brand new using this music and season 3 wasn't even created?😐
Highly doubted, Transformers didn't debut until 84 and in 85 during season 2 they were using this opening. It's an alternate opening that was used for season 2 but probably wasn't aired everywhere.

From Grimlock's bite of "Transformers" that transitioned to Thrust, then Dinobots rampaging, Blitzwing's changing from jet to robot to tank, then Omega Supreme proceeding to step on his ass then picked up by Bonecrusher (or Scrapper), Astrotrain changing from robot to a f*king locomotive to shuttle, Insecticons swimming in lava (!?!), and concluding with all-out no-holds barred fight b/w Megatron and Optimus Prime. God damn!
This intro actually didn’t originate from the sci fi channel, it actually was first used during reruns of season 2 in spring to summer of 1986 before the release of the movie and season 3. So this is technically the first time this version of the theme was used
SAME!!! I used to record TF because it moved to 8am, so I would record them before I left for school on a Betamax player. Still have the tape, but a working Beta machine? Nahhh. The episode I recorded that day was "Trans-Europe Express". Since I hardly, if ever, got to watch a season 2 episode from start to finish, I always assumed that seasons 2 and 3 carried the same intro, just different animation.

Hey, I take offense to that. I love the cartoon (especially season 2), but the live action films are what introduces me to the franchise as a whole. But yeah, rabid fans, so put it in our asses.
Well, IMHO, the first and third ones were great, second and fifth were meh at best, and fourth one is absolute BS. Still love G1 though (except maybe Megatron's squeaky voice, because I prefer Frank Welker's TF:Prime voice)

I remember that, at least on our station, the alternate opening replaced the original in the summer of '86, in the leadup to the movie.
Season 3&4 theme with Season two intro. There's also a season 1 version of this. I remember watching it in the late 90s on Sky 1 (I'm British)
