This talk of Yoda's age reminds me of a crazy theory I had in high school. I figured Yoda was actually a human. My "clue" was the line "When 900 years old you become, not so good you will look, hmm?". People tend to get more hunched over and shorter as they get older. Hair can grow out their ears. Their skin might also turn an unhealthy shade after long enough. So... Yoda was what happens when humans get *THAT* old. (Of course, this theory came about long LONG before Disney ever bought Star Wars. So well before Grogu was ever introduced. Heck, Lucas hadn't even released all of the prequel series yet.)
@AustynSN In human years he was in his late 60s and yes the dark side had caused lots of damage, as it ages you and plus tge damage from his force lighting bouncing back at him.. I think I recall instances in the lore (probably legends) where Sideous would reflect somewhat fondly on the conversations and time spent with Yoda back when he was Palpatine. Though much of it was due to the satisfaction of being the lord of the Sith hiding in plain sight, it also seemed like it was one of the few occasions he felt like he was amongst an equal. In a strange way, Yoda might have been the closest thing to a real friend Sideous would have had throughout his entire life.
Hey man great video and also wanted to extend thanks for your response for Star Wars theory! Glad to hear from you on that subject! Keep up the great content as always ❤️
I always love when a Sith ends up respecting a Jedi or lightsider because even if they deep down still hate that person they respect power and strength
Between you and Star Wars Theory, you guys are all I watch. And both very different but both have the passion for Star Wars. Thank you sir for your service to the community.
I believe that Palpatine genuinely respected Yoda for his abilities as a Jedi. Especially in comparison to him being able to take down four Jedi at a time before ever using his force lightning, Palpatine knew that Yoda was likely the only member of the Jedi order that could have a chance to defeat him. Outside of maybe Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Obi Wan wasn't remotely strong enough to be a threat to Sidious. Obi Wan's best ability against Palpatine was like Gandalf's role in Middle-Earth: small good deeds, guiding other heroes, keeping the Light shining, etc. Anakin had the POTENTIAL to surpass Sidious, but was nowhere near it at the time of Episode 3. Hence why he was the APPRENTICE, and after losing that potential on Mustafar, he remained the Apprentice forever. It would have been many years of training in either the Light or the Dark before Anakin could surpass Sidious. And this isn't even peak Sidious. Palpatine reached FAR greater power years later. In the novel, Vader's thoughts are shown that he wanted to betray Sidious after facing Obi Wan, BUT... Sidious KNEW this, and planned to use Vader's attempt as a lesson in how much stronger Sidious really was at the time. Then Vader lost to Obi Wan, and the plan he had to attack Sidious went out the window like Windu. Lol. Yoda was the only Jedi who could truly hold his own in a duel with Sidious, but he wasn't strong enough to defeat Sidious. At all. Still, mad respect to Yoda for the battle he gave, despite being knocked out in first 5 seconds by Sidious' lightning. Only reason Sidious didn't take the opportunity to end him, and rather used the Force to more quickly awaken Yoda, was his desire to embarrass Yoda. Remember, Sidious KOed Yoda in the first seconds. That says something right there.
@@JadusMoltrielobi wan is one of the best jedi, clone wars and canon has showed him to be due to him constantly dueling with anakin. The funny how Obi wan has been the only other jedi in the films to use two dark side techniques as a finisher.
