Balerion definitely didn't die of old age. He died after being seriously injured and never being able to fully/properly recover from. If I'm not mistaken, it's not specified, but I feel it's heavily implied Balerion was hurt so severely by a larger, and older dragon beyond the unexplored continent.
There was no dragon bigger and older then balerion? I haven’t finished fire and blood yet but all accounts of balerion state him as being the oldest and largest.
@@Richard_Frost so do you not have anything from the text or anywhere backing this up or is this just a story you manifested? Fire and blood is written as a history book so what purpose would there be to say balerion is the oldest in largest if he isn’t, they would have no reason to reveal that info later on for drama or any other reason bc it’s history it’s just stated as what’s thought to be factual. Yes, he is known as the oldest largest dragon of the Targaryen‘s bc the Targaryen’s dragons are supposedly the only dragons remaining there is no texts that talk about other dragons after the doom of Valeria. Unless you have something you’d like to share like we’re asking….
@@alexh6767 There are countless theories on the web about what caused the massive and severe wounds Balerion had suffered. What is known and does have proof, is that prior to Balerion being injured so severely, he showed no sign of his growth slowing, nor was any dragon known to have ever died of old age. Only after suffering such severe wounds and slowly recovering did his growth stop, and he became lethargic and lacking in strength. As far as proof of my theory about what hurt him, there is none, as the author intentionally kept it a mystery, as no-one knows what really happened or where they had disappeared to in universe. Considering his rider was charred black however, I feel it's heavily implied it was a fight with another fire breathing beast, and considering Balerion had single handedly killed a number of other large/adult dragons without so much as a scratch, it's implied whatever fucked him up to the state he was in must have been viscously deadly. There are also countless rumors in lore about wild dragons existing in the southern continent, in Valeria's ruins, as well as in the far east beyond the grey wastes.
The dragons in the show don't look big. They look like they couldn't even lift a horse, let alone an elephant. They didn't research about animal anatomy. The smallest dragon should at least be two elephants long from head to base of tail, a wingspan at least five times this length in order to take lift, and a tail twice the body length for balance and manoeuvring. Then scale the bigger dragons from this.

Queen.
Vhagar😈🔥!!!
Why has noone mentioned this? Do you have proof. I don't read the books
@@docsuperg3560 Biggest and oldest of the Targaryian dragons. It's never said he is the biggest or oldest to have ever lived.
If the Dragon in the video is Vhagar I am disappointed. I hoped she look a little more like Drogon.
Dragons are tools of war, not cuddly play things
The dragons in the show don't look big. They look like they couldn't even lift a horse, let alone an elephant.
They didn't research about animal anatomy. The smallest dragon should at least be two elephants long from head to base of tail, a wingspan at least five times this length in order to take lift, and a tail twice the body length for balance and manoeuvring. Then scale the bigger dragons from this.
They used Smaug footage lmao, Smaug is a real dragon not the generic lizards of game of thrones
Really really really really???? Realer?
Smaug is not realistic
Fine, they look more real in GOT but they age like humans lmao
