I’ve had an arc gouge most of the welded teeth off and replaced them on huge cutting drums for a mill around Lake Charles! A company we had a contract for their maintenance! They would deliver the drums to our shop and we would replace everything and balance and paint them! When we were finished they looked new again! Gouging those off was a job, you definitely have to wear your leather sleeves and big gloves! Sparks went everywhere!
Thanks for the video of changing the cutter teeth 👍 plum wore out great job 👍❤️❤️. Take care of yourself and family and be Blessed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.
I love watching Munchie making mincemeat of that brush pile. That's awesome work. You and your family have a very Merry Christmas Devon and a prosperous New Year. See you on the next one.😊
i always give a like, before I watch...I'm sorry I didnt watch the last vid properly...i skipped and skipped lol...I love the time-laps and music....soz...anyhoo, im looking forward to seeing some munching...A merry xmas to you and yours hun x
The only reason I can figure why those stumps didn't burn is the fire wasn't hot enough and didn't burn long enough next the owner needs to poor some used motor oil and gas on the brush piles before lighting them
Interesting video, how much are they and how long on average do they last I was a underground fitter in the British coalfields and changed many picks as we called them pretty tough .
Those were some pretty lazy looking welds that hold the tooth mounts to the drum in that TMC. I don’t think they would have passed muster back in the day when I was a fabricator. But that said, I’m sure they’ll hold up just fine.
Not lazy welds, but rather specifically engineered failure points to protect the drum in case of a sudden violent stop. Bringing a drum head to a sudden violent stop from 2200+ rpm will damage the holder irreparably, and if not for the fail points would deform the drum head essentially scraping the whole mulcher. Those welds are designed to fail at the same time as the holder to prevent such damage as the drum is expensive enough to render it economically unfeasible to replace just the component. This being said it takes some major impact with some sort of steel with a narrow edge, AND the knife catching it just right to hook. That right there is what we call Murphy's Law (or sh1t luck take your pick).
Job well done...that mulcher is a beast. Burnings these massive stumps will be for free but it is harsh on the environment I guess...good luck and keep up the good work.
Good job on videography and informational aspect of changing teeth. Gotta say it appears that you do stay busy. Do you change your own oil on all the machines? Merry Christmas Davin!
Stumps like that always have rocks and gravel entrained between the roots on the bottom. Really hard on the teeth. Carbides would probably be better for this kind of mulching.
@@cyndikarp3368 It’s not very likely that it’s 100% clay. And even clay is made up of abrasive grains of rock. In any case the stuff captured between the roots is harder on the teeth of the mulcher than the wood it is designed to chip.
Merry Christmas Davin. Hope you take time to enjoy some of the holiday because this was a tough year emotionally for you. GOD bless you man.............❣
Good job on the stump. If you get another job similar, perhaps grabbing a handful of the mulch over to the side where safe, a dash of fuel, the client can then symbolically “burn the stump”. 😇😇
Just the shock from the impact alone could snap the holder off think about it. You're running 2200+ rpm and you bring that violently to a stop? Yes that vibrational shock is going to cause damage without holder reinforcement (in this case being a 2 piece design), or added dampening. Spring steel, and hardened steel are both weak when it comes to shear forces. You start taking alloys, and that's a different story. Spring steel has great tensile strength, but poor shear strength, hardened steel has excellent tensile strength, and good torsional strength, but it's very brittle leading to a very poor sheer strength. Alloys being ductile allow the holder to deform to a point without shearing off. You can repair a bent holder, you cannot repair a sheared off holder.
I'd save and resharpen those slightly worn side teeth, for when the center ones get badly worn or damaged to swap out with, so you get a better balance as teeth wear.
So I noticed that you had switched mulching heads after putting new teeth on the other one. Did you not get the other 4 teeth for that one yet? Another question is on the other ones that you had put new teeth on I remember you had gotten it from that company to review. Did you decide to purchase it or did they give it to you or is it still on review? And which mulching head is your favorite between the two? I was really curious about how much wear it would put on the new teeth grinding that huge tree stump. But then I noticed that you had started using the other one 😂.

Looks as though that is a good solution to disposing of stumps, but I don't think it is the best, because of it being hard on the teeth of the mulcher. Probably wouldn't be too bad if the stumps were still green. Could be wrong, just a educated guess! Had a good holiday.

Nice to see you mulching the stumps etc and not burning, keep up the good work !!
Mulcher performed very well, great job as always.just continue on doing what your doing and be safe.great video 😎😎😎👍👍👍

Davin, those stumps didn’t stand a chance against munchie! Awesome video sir! Take care and I’ll see you down the road…

The property is looking better all the time. Wishing you and your family a very blessed and Merry Christmas..
Good job and video Brother. Oh the joys of being an owner operator.

WOW! The comparison of old to new? Amazing! Question: Do your equipment cabs have an air filter so you breath clean air?👍👍
Well done again. Happy Christmas Davin. See you in the New Year no doubt. X

1 So these "Teeth" were the originals from TMC?
2 What does a set of teeth run $$$...approx?
Would also know the tooth cost
Interesting video, how much are they and how long on average do they last I was a underground fitter in the British coalfields and changed many picks as we called them pretty tough .
Very good info on changing teeth. Do you ever change out the worn middle teeth and move the less worn end teeth toward the middle?
Why does more debris come out when you back drag than when you go forward, or is it the configuration of the teeth?

Huge stumps! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope the new year brings you peace and love.
Great video great job thanks Davin
And those teeth take one hell of a beating too! How often do you have to change the bolts Davon and how much does a set of teeth cost you my friend?

Where's your cordless impact wrench 🔧 😊
This was a good one. How often do you have to change out the treads on the 120?
Thank you for an excellent video! Also Merry Christmas to you and your family!🙏🌲❤️
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
No impact driver? It would speed up that process.

New teeth are going to be nice. Little Munchie works great, too. Use caution grinding muddy stumps, is there any rocks or metal?

These stump had lot of clay. @@Dave-ei7kk

Great work! As usual!
You should have time lapsed the teeth change. We would have loved that. Plus. Get an impact wrench.

You destroyed that pile of tree trunks.
I TOTALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO DAVIN 😊

Yeah, about two minutes after I posted that, you said that's what you're doing.
That M450 is undeniable…..
that was impressive
What do you do with the old teeth, do you send them where they can be melted down and redone.
They are scrap.
Nice job!

Would they not burn if the wood was cut down with a chain saw?
Those stumps look big enough that they may have processed the tree trunks for lumber or pulp depending on what species they were. $$$

Good. Job.
Awesome job, Merry Christmas have a blessed day
Thank you! Same to you!
Wow
Put the better ones in the middle and the others on the outside.
Merry Christmas !!!
10:20 what is the flavour of that tree stump that won't burn? 23:21 Red Oak?
Yes I think both of the larger ones were red oak.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas!
Nice teeth. But what is more important: Merry Christmas!🎀⛄🎁
👌🏻
It's easier to dig a big hole and burn these stumps in it. Why break the mulcher?
County and City restrictions on that kind of thing might have prevented him from doing that.
Then bury the stumps in this hole.@@TTM1895
Dude, get an air gun please
Do you think it would have been cheaper to burn the stumps? Save your time and the teeth wear
