Don’t underestimate the practicality of a cheap plastic changing mat lol. They’re water proof, light weight and can be fully sanitized easily after every use. I use to use mine for travel and to leave downstairs through the day.

The baby bath is amazing I got the same one 5 years ago with my 1st born and I used it for all 3 of my children. I remember my having a break down to health visitor over scratch mitts🙈 because they just used to fall off constantly, she told me to use his socks. Literally a game changer. Your so prepared now your going to be a brilliant mum and baby boy so lucky to have you🥰💙

I’m so excited for you Gemma! Jamie too ☺️ lol. After 5 children and 14 grandchildren what I want to share with you is this. I encourage you to use the remaining time to relax…. You’ll never have this carefree time again so pamper yourself. Also once you have your baby, sleep when he sleeps day or night. It makes a huge difference. The breast pump is great to have because it will allow Jamie to do feedings as well. He will love the bonding time with his Son and it will give you a much needed break. Last but not least, I didn’t use the baby nail clippers until about 6 to 8 months. I bit their finger nails lol. I know it may sound weird but I was terrified of clipping their skin because their finger nails are so tiny in the beginning. I can’t wait to see you as a Mommy Gemma. You’re going to be amazing! ♥️

I really enjoyed baby gowns (added socks to feet) when my kids were first born because they are so much easier to change diapers and keep the legs warm. I have taken care of thousands of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit over 18 years. I agree that first aid and infant CPR are important. Also, a breast feeding class and Lamaze classes are really great.

Gemma I definitely 2nd this! I've had to do the heimlich on 3 children in my family over the years, the last time was on my 1yr old granddaughter and had I not known (& stayed very calm) I'm afraid of what the outcome may have been as at the time we lived so far from a hospital or rescue, it's so very important although of course we pray you will never need it 🙏💛

@@ronicalee3112 I agree with the first aid too, but it should be back blows now, especially on a baby or young child. I also have had this happen to me twice, it's terrifying but so glad I knew what to do thanks to pediatric first aid which I had to because I work with children. X

My son is 6 months old now. I used the baby monitor for when he is in his big bed or when he does naps upstairs.
About the bedsheats etc. I was always told you need at least 3 of everything. 1 in use. 1 in the washing and 1 spare in the linnen closet.

Good morning Gemma! Look up Red Cross first aid kits. I have them in my home. I love watching you prepare, that was me last year. Just know you can have so many things and you'll find cute stuff along the way after he's born as well. Enjoy every single moment left of pregnancy and motherhood. It went by fast with my 12 year old and it's cruising right along with my eight month old 🥰

Mumma of two boys here so know very well about the fountain of wee 😂 A big tip I got was when changing them to undo the front the nappy then put it back on and put tabs back on for a few more seconds! They normally do wees once the air gets to them so putting the nappy back on hopefully catches it 🙈 Then go back and change him! You’ll get very good at being able to tell when a wee is coming 🙈 Metanium barrier cream the yellow version is also a life saver for nappy rash, especially when they’re teething as always seems worse then! Enjoy every second once he’s here and don’t ever doubt yourself you’ve got this, Mummy & Daddy know best 🤎

Recommendation get different dummies baby might not take to the teat but you can buy them later on because not all babies like a dummy , don't know if you will use them but possibly get bibs babies drool alot etc . I’d recommend the Baby Bumco Butt Spatula for applying diaper/nappy cream. Especially if you’re like me and hate anything getting under your nails! Most are thick pastes and hard to wash off your hands ;)
Also, have a look at the Oogiebear - it’s a “ear and nose picker” I find it a a great tool to get the little crusty bogies out their nose (the sucker is good for soft or slimy ones) and it doubles as a tool to pick out earwax. It was designed as well so it won’t go too far up/in noses and ears - important with a squiggly little one!
Good luck! I found it difficult and overwhelming at first, but it’s just an adjustment. You’ll get used to your new normal - and don’t be shy to accept anyone’s help :)

Hi Gemma I just want to remind you to make sure you and Jamie spend as much special time together now before baby comes. Once baby is here there is not a lot of time for the two of you to spend alone.
I never had a first aide kit but a grooming kit is a must.
Most of all remember to enjoy the first year with baby it goes by so fast.
Sending lots of love your way and prayers for an easy and safe delivery.

Dont know if you'll see this but....
    Muslin blankets or squares!
Deffo buy. Bought them for all 3 of mine.
    They are so multi functional
    Over your shoulder when burping.
    To wipe baby's mouth
I now use mine as my baby is nearly 2 now for wiping nose instead of the tissues that make it really sore.
Dampen them down and drape over the pram when its hot to keep baby cool.
Wipe them down with a cool one in the summer to keep them cool. ( i use these as they dry really fast too)
Use as a light blanket in the summer.
I used to lay them on the waterproof changing matts as they can be cold on babys back in the winter and really sticky during the summer so I place one on. Also any accident they can easily be washed and dried!!!
I used the bamboo muslins for mine as they are a lot softer xxx
2 out of my 3 children have allergies and nappy rash was horrific blisters the works metanium nappy cream was the best! Cleared up instantly. However it is very yellow and quite easily gets on to things but its well worth it! Xxx

My top tips are do a first aid and CPR class, it’s better to know than not to!🥰 also I read in a car safety group that mirrors aren’t recommended due to them potentially shattering in an accident, I actually had one and have no replaced it with a camera, it’s so much safer too as I don’t have to keep checking my mirror! Also don’t pump before 6 weeks, this allows your body to regulate the amount of milk baby wants so you don’t end up overproducing and by doing so you prevent getting mastitis! If you need to pump in the early days for relief use a manual pump or massage your boobs in the shower/bath!! Wishing you all the luck! You’re already an amazing mama❤️

I wanted to breastfeed my first but as a first time mum, the first time she didn’t latch properly and struggled to feed I instantly gave her formula and gave up on breastfeeding. I wish I’d have had support to persevere as with my second, this happened again but I just had a bowl of porridge and pint of water and tried again in half an hour and it worked and I ended up breastfeeding him until he was two. I didn’t have any formula in the house second time round so I didn’t have the option straight away at the first hurdle. Everyone is different but I found breastfeeding so much easier especially during night feeds (no bottles to make) and going out (always had my boobs with me so didn’t need to even think about feeding). When I started giving my first baby formula I also went for aptamil as it’s advertised as closest to breast milk but it actually gave my baby bad constipation and after looking it up, it’s well known to cause this. I found cow and gate more gentle on her stomach. Wishing you the best of luck at this magical time. If I could press rewind I would do it over and over again. Remember to make time for self care when baby comes and don’t be afraid to ask for help xx

For your bedside bassinet you won't have to change the sheets as much as you think due to changing diapers quite often. The monitor I hooked up to his baby crib a big must have was no wifi on it as I heard they can be hacked. The halo sleep sack is superior, is it the velcro one that zips up from up from the bottom so you don't have to disturb him too much while changing diapers during sleep. White noise machines are very important! The light is great as well! Yes make sure you just get wipeable changing mat you won't need those pads. Safety first is a good brand for first aid kit. As for the snot sucker I didn't think I would be able to either until you try using the bulb you have that do not work at all. The snot will not pass through. Huggies diapers are the best. For baths they don't need a bath until the unbilical cord falls off, also not to often as they will dry out super fast. Water wipes I find are too wet. For baby bath get the blooming bath as it will fit in your sink and is machine washable super easy. As for bottles I breastfed as well and the bottles my son takes to the best are Avent I have tried so many including the ones you got, they were a big no. For formula if you ever need it I find gentlease is the best. The hakka is good for your let down to catch it all make sure you get the top with it. I would get a Boppy nursing pillow as it is for nursing, tummy time, also naps. For clothes sleepers that zip up from the bottom are the best, then just plain onsies as babies spit up and you will be changing outfits a lot 😉 yes carrier's are amazing even for calming baby down if he won't nap. They also grow out of clothing so quickly! Oh I recommend a back pack for a diaper bag I have both and never end up using my over the shoulder one. I would get more sleep suits and halo swaddles as he will spit up on it and they are so good for sleep. Babies love being swaddled as it mimics the womb. I also wouldn't worry about a jumper for a while. I would look into getting lovevery subscription as it has development toys by age.
I follow you on ig as well and will dm you ig accounts that are very helpful in navigating your bundle of joy! I wish you a easy labor and speedy recovery! Love following you on this journey!

Watching this I was smiling all the way through. You will never forget the excitement of being a first time mum and not being able to wait to try everything out and put all the cute clothes on him 🙂❤️
PS - just remembered I was going to mention, but I am sure you will get advice from your midwife on this too, that it may be an idea to try to get breast feeding established before introducing a bottle? Reason being (as I was told) the bottle is easier for baby to get the milk he needs in the early days so he may stop trying to get milk from the breast and favour the bottle. I did this with my first baby and I remember feeling so disappointed. With my second I persevered with breast feeding and did as u had been advised. Baby was three months old and we'll established with breast feeding before I introduced the bottle. For boiled water, I gave this from a spoon. Hope that helps 🙂

Currently watching, and 100% backing your comments about remember amazon prime 🤣
For baby sheets, I recommend getting 4 x sheets and mattress protectors, and then 'lasagne' two sets of each - so protector, sheet, protector, sheet - so if there are any issues in the night you can whip off the top layers!

Also baby monitor - mainly once they are in their cot, as guidance says they should sleep and nap in whatever room you are in at the time until 6 months. We actually started doing naps in the cot from about 5months so used it then but that would be your own decision to make of comfortable with that 🤷‍♀️

I heard that you can start pumping while pregnant and put it in the freezer and it can be kept fresh for 6 months in the freezer so you can defrost the milk and feed baby xxx

    Two tips.
    1. Place a folded muslin on the mattress where babies head is. When baby is sick replace with a clean muslin not a clean sheet every time.
    2. I too pumped and breast fed. I used to freeze my milk which came in handy. Also never heated milk. Always fed at room temperature. Found it so much easier when out and about not having to heat up milk to the temperature baby was used to. 👶🍼💙

10000% recommend the dream egg white noise machine, Ewan is great but he will only kick in once baby is already stirring / awake where this plays constantly and reduces disturbances. It’s also portable! Xxx

Puppy pads are amazing for ok the go changing out and about. But a wipeable mat works great at home. Shove it behind the sofa if it’s clean.
I love your changing bag! I loved Skip Hop stuff (they do great feeding things when baby’s older). Don’t forget to pack snacks in there for you if you’re out and about. Especially if you’re breastfeeding I found I was always super hungry. I had a set up by where I fed my son with bottled water and snacks etc. just because I spent a lot of time there. I got the Dr Browns bottles (everyone recommended those to me) but I’d just say trial and error for everything because what works for you and your baby can be different for the next.
Slightly random but Amazon Subscribe and Save is a huge help. I get baby wipes and never run out. You can also save a little too because boy! They can can get expensive haha.
Most important advice I got was just do what’s best for you and your baby! Take advice and things from everyone (because you’ll get it) but don’t feel any pressure because you know you and your baby best. Xxxx

You will definitely need bepanthan cream and an electric bottle steriliser is a must have. If your using mam bottles you can get a matching steriliser because it’s better to match the brands xx

Me and my family HATED the Tommee tippee bottles because they made my daughter choke multiple times and she went floppy once. MAM bottles are incredible though! Especially for reflux, colic etc. Also MAM dummies are the only once my daughter will take to this day (she's 1y/o in a week). Wishing you all the luck 🤍✨
